    Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. Enchanting. How lovely to see them both - hope that it's not too long before I can see Mr and Mrs Scholl at the Wigmore Hall very soon.

    Gorgeous rendition, with the silkiest undertones! This is the very song that made me fall in love with the music of Purcell when our extraordinarily-gifted 9th-Grade Music teacher sang it to our class while accompanying herself on the piano. She had a glorious voice that influenced me for the rest of my life.

    Genius Purcell - so much so that one listens to one of his ground bass motifs and thinks, "I could write one of them!" But come put pencil to blank stave and suddenly the truth dawns ... Purcell was the Master, home and safe, while I am about to be caught out running for first base! And I'm tolerably musical!

    Scholl mesmerizes yet again. His gentle nature shines through everything he sings. However, I am certainly not an expert on harpsichords but there is something wrong here. Even Halperin seems agonized about having to play it. Why is it so metallic?

    Belle interprétation mais je ne retrouve pas vraiment la souplesse, la subtilité de la voix d'Alfred Deller. C'est tout de même infiniment mieux que la version Jarroussky, si désagréable. Regret: l'accompagnement assez minable.

    • @CPCPierrick
      @CPCPierrick 7 років тому +1

      Cher François Lebedel, l'accompagnement "assez minable" comme vous dites, se justifie par les conditions d'enregistrement, il ne s'agit pas d'une version studio, ni d'un récital, mais d'un ensemble de chants sélectionnés pour être interprété par Scholl et Halperin, son épouse (qui est au piano ou clavecin) dans une émision de radio de Maartje van Weegen. L'accompagnement est par nature modeste et résolu à son plus simple appareil : une voix, un instrument, prenons donc soin de ne pas dire "assez minable". Écoutez une version Studio ou récital de ce même morceau par Scholl, vous y verrez un accompagnement vraiment différent et un travail vocal naturellement différent.

      +Marvin Narbonetajr This is not ridiculous! In one of his interviews he shows how everyone can do this!!!! He got his academic education (Réné Jacobs)... and there are many countertenors. Maybe you have to listen to one of the interviews! and ....... when he speeks he has a normal voice!!!!!!
