Southern Italy has many hidden gems - cultural, scenic, and culinary.
We discovered one during our trip in June 2019 in the town of Ruvo di Puglia.
Mokambo Gelateria is located on the small side street - Via Nella Rosselli.
Ah, you may think, but there is wonderful gelato everywhere in Italy. True but none measure up to the unique and artisanal flavors of Mokambo. Vincenzo and his sister Giuliana are bringing some old family recipes and techniques to their gelato shop. And there is one secret ingredient that no other shop in Italy will ever have - that would be Zio Franco, un grande e deciso istruttore! On our visit we had the good fortune to spend several hours with Zio Franco mixing a batch of pistachio gelato and tasting it of course. He also instructed us in preparing a remarkably simple but tasty pastry, baking it, and enjoying gelato sandwiches from our handiwork. It was a delightful morning with a warm and generous family. If your travels take you to Puglia, make time for Mokambo - their gelato and their hospitality will be a highlight of your journey!
🇺🇸 🇬🇧 The Mokambo Experience is a 360° immersive experience in the world of ice cream that allows you to discover how an ice cream is born, starting from simple ingredients up to the finished product at the moment of tasting.
The experiences consist of a part of study and knowledge of raw materials and their origins, of a processing part where we will "roll up our sleeves", work side by side and learn "how to create ice cream".
A real ice cream class where you will be followed step by step in understanding and combining the right ingredients to create something that has been called "the most exquisite ice cream in the region"
Choose this experience and have fun with your family or friends making ice cream by combining a few simple 100% local and natural ingredients.
The experience ends with a complete tasting tour of all the ice creams made up to that moment and with a series of little surprises to take home.
