I love the artwork coming down on the blank wall of your stairwell… Replacing the heart basket. Every day you would see it and think of how sweet your dad was to get it for you.
No joke I was just in those thrift stores and Northrop Antique store. I purchased an old watering can from that booth with the jugs. Loved Southpointe!
I love the picture by the stairs on the empty wall. Write down the story of your Daddy surprising you and put it in an envelope and tape it to the back of the picture.
I would love your painting that your Dad surprised you with either in your living room or stairway going upstairs. Giving it a place of prominence will let know how beautiful and special his gift was to you. Sweet Dad!😘
My mom was an amateur interior designer; her home was always lovely! Her philosophy was, “buy what you love, don’t worry about where it would go. When you get home, just walk around with the piece until you find the perfect spot for it.” 😊 ~Cathy
Great thrift haul. I think that you would enjoy seeing the painting every time you walk down your stairs, it's so sweet that your dad purchased it for you. The Stuttgart piece would look great in Mike's study area or by his side of the bed. Isaiah is so sweet asking kitty which way do you want to go. 🐈⬛
The *Stuttgart* placque, I see in a little gouping on the wall, with a couple of black and white photos from your husband's childhood. A grouping of three is always nice. Maybe a baby photo of him in an oval frame?
I agree with another comment, the picture would be nice in a prominent spot where everyone who visits can see and admire it, but most of all would make your dad smile knowing he got it for you and you love it!
I was amazed at the incredible pieces the host discovered in thrift stores - it really goes to show that you can find stylish and affordable clothing anywhere. I got so many ideas for mixing and matching different pieces to create new outfits!
Thank you for stopping in and giving The Painted Mermaid a shoutout! Awesome to find and follow you too. Hope to see you again on your next trip! :) - Amy
Isaiah he’s so cute especially when he was speaking to the cat. I think the artwork would look good over the beam. I love the way you decorate your home. Andrea, thank you for sharing your thrift finds with us. Blessings to you and yours.
Laughing at Isiah. as he raised both his hands at the dining table, seeming to say, “I dont know.” I am guessing you asked him where you should place the lidded basket. Loved the clip of him interacting with your cat at the front door also. He’s adorable and what a good and patient kitty. Your videos are so calming and relaxing to watch. I am needing that comfort today. Thank you.
Hello friend! Love the painting. I thought it looked best on the wall above the beam as you go down the stairs. Or on the wall as you go up the stairs. Glad you had a wonderful vacation. God is good and faithful. 😇
Love seeing your finds and how you used them. My favorite part was seeing your son play and talk to the cat. My boys are grow and most of my grandchildren are so I miss this age. Looking forward when my little rainbow great granddaughter Stella will be born in September. Please pray for my granddaughter Ashley and her precious rainbow baby Stella.
I made each of my four kids a photo album. They all thought it was the greatest gift. I love the oil painting your dad got you the best on the stair wall.
So glad you’re doing that for your children. I did that for my granddaughters. All their photos are on their phones, just like most people nowadays. I love the photo albums.
Awe, sweet daddy! And yes, art work on the wall near the couch Ok, above the stairs wit the heart is really good too. You could still keep the heart there Awe, what a little cutie pie talking to the kitty ❤
Your sweet son talking to his cat brought back memories. When my youngest son was about his age(he's now 25) he would have many a sweet conversation with our dog. My son was blonde too. Just precious.
I think you should hang the Stuttgart tile in the nook over your stairs and move the oil painting the the stairway and add a couple more paintings there. I love seeing your finds!
yes over the stairs or going up the stairs, but i think you will enjoy it more over the stairs. I love prints or paintings with old country roads (those dirt roads with a little cure to them), so sweet.
Family is so important to have around, I wish I had my dad still with me. Isaiah is so cute playing with the cat and when I saw him going after the cat, I got so scared for him not to climb the stairs. That large baskets can be placed under the table, where the chalkboard is hanging. It doesn't really need to be on top of a table.
I’m from Wilmington & we lived in Southport/Oak Island for 6 yrs. It’s so cool to watch someone from so far away showing places that were my “go to” shops for yrs. Glad y’all had a good time. Everything looks great.
How fun to spend time seeing your beautiful home and decor. I like the picture on the wall over the stairs and the books in the white bookcase in your living room. But where ever you decide it will look perfect. Thank you.
I just love your house and to see that wood on the ceiling of the bedroom upstairs, I swooned. Your kitchen is perfect. I love it all. I do think a picture wall next to your couch in the living room would be a lot more interesting than those wire baskets there now.
I know they were only for decor, but with your beautiful blue oven, I can see the pie crimper and meat mallet in your kitchen.😊 I love the basket with the canvas cover that said waschen. Adorbs.❤
What a great trip! Thank you for taking me along. Love the gifted books and where you put them. How about putting your new platter with the other 2? Lower the bottom one and center them? Until your rack gets built. Great idea! I have been wanting one too. I think above the beam is a perfect place for your new picture! Great way to greet your day as you “take the path” down stairs. Would your husband enjoy having the Stuttgart tile placed somewhere he could view it? I love all your finds. AND thank you for introducing us to Liene Photo machine. Might just have to purchase one. 😁 Enjoy your weekend!
You make want to go antiquing! 😅 I love Thrift and Antique stores, lately I've been thrifting more than antiquing! My 27 yo grandson loves to go antiquing, I enjoy shopping with him, so I'll wait for him to want to go antiquing.. its more FUN when you share it with someone special. Your little boy is so Cute! Love your channel and your house!
Blue paint on the upper walls in the dining area would make all your white dishes pop and look really pretty. Would tie it into the blue accents you have been adding around the rest of the house.
Andrea, I would hang the scalloped ironstone platter with the other two, making a group of three, and I think the oil painting above the entry, three tier basket was a perfect spot, it will show up so well there for everyone to see! As for the little handmade pottery dish, I liked it in the first place you sat it!
I thought for sure you would have purchased the pie crimper. It was so adorable. I love when Isaiah was talking to the kitty. All your boys are adorable..😂❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hi Andrea..Isaiah talking to the cat is priceless!! He’s a doll ☺️ What a nice trip 😌 I like the picture at the end of the couch and over the steps.. you could always move it back & forth.. it’s beautiful.. what a sweet surprise from your Dad 😌 Love the baskets.. I’m a basket lover 😅.. Thanks for taking us along. 😊
Years ago when my two kids were very young (they are now young adults), I found a stash of white restaurant ware at a garage sale 10 mins from my house. Multiple plates, soup bowls, smaller bowls, coffee cups, all plain white, heavy, and very durable. I bought a bunch (I remember boxes!), and we are still using all of it! I know I couldn't have spent much because then I didn't have much to spend. Your white plates reminded of it. Great buy!
What a great family tradition to pass on to your boys. Your son is adorable! I love all your treasures you found. Be very careful if you try to remove the Stutggart tile from it's frame. It could crack on you. I think it would look very nice in the stairway wall with the painting your dad got you. Maybe one on top of the other? Or in a spot that your husband likes to hang out so he can see it and appreciate it. Have a blessed week ☺
I would also hang it on the stairwell but slightly higher up so that it shines in its own right with some white space around it. Thanks for taking us along in NC and showing how you style these items in your home.
Artwork from your dad: love it either on the stairwell as the start of a gallery wall...or where you put it above the staircase. Stuttgart tile: I see it has a hook on the back... you could start a gallery wall up your stairs, starting with baby pictures of your husband, and that tile since he was born there...and one of you,...and momentos to hang amongst the pics...then your kids...do a Family Tree Gallery Wall and include all sorts of things!
Hi, the Stuttgart tile would probably look nice in the front foyer wall next to the window going up the stairs, you could use the W.Germany coasters alongside the tile (W.Germany grouping). You could maybe find framed pictures of your husband's ancestors /or family to continue the theme going up the stairs. Thank you for including your son having fun with the cat. The oil painting (Dad's surprise) would look great going on the wall upstairs above the beam. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing your home and your decorating expertise. Blessings, from Jersey Ann from NJ😄😺
Hi Andrea your little boy is adorable. All the things you picked up are really pretty. I think the scalloped plate is so pretty and that was so sweet of your dad to get you that picture. I liked it in your entry way. I aways look forward to your videos. Thank you for sharing!
Love your taste! And for some reason we always remember what we left behind but it's nice to see you use what you have. I would pop the tile out and use as a trivet for hot dishes on the table or store it standing up on the kitchen counter. Enjoy
The stutgart tile would look nice in the kitchen. Maybe on the counter on a plate stand. It is dark and so is the counter. Trivet would be nice too, only if it does not get scratched.
Your home is so beautiful! I love your thrift finds. I think that the painting looks the best above the beam where the heart basket was upstairs . That scalloped dish looked great next to the wooden duck on side table, and that smaller basket might look great in your dining room on the bottom shelf of the little table ( it was behind you in the video as you were talking about it). You are a great designer, any place will look amazing. 😊
Love it all! My grandfather was German so I’m also very intrigued when I find antique German things! I don’t have much from my German heritage so I love finding those collectibles to incorporate into my decor. 😊
Lovely video Andrea! I love the art above your staircase. You seemed to have loved it there the most as well…so that was a good indication that’s its home. Your son and kitty are so cute! You apologized for showing that adorable interaction on your video…never feel like that’s a burden on us. Most of us are mothers and know and love those sweet moments as well. My son is a freshman and my daughter is in 5th grade…so toddler conversations are a thing of that past that I miss so much. Thank you for sharing that with us. Love all of your finds!!
How sweet, In the beginning of the video I noticed the blue/gold, Chuck Yeager bridge in my home state of WV. NC has some of the greatest thrift/antique stores.
Hello! I love the artwork on the wall going up the stairs! A three-piece collection would be stunning! I prefer the crates on the wall in the living room. You’re such an inspiration! I have a thrift stacked basket, but mine has four!
The wall where you have your platters hung would be a beautiful spot for a plate rack. I love decorating mine with dishes for each season. It could also be a great project to share.
I love the artwork, which is beautiful and a good deal thanks to your negotiator dad, on the crate wall. Hang it and the two crates. That wall can take all three IMO.
The art work looks beautiful hanging in the staircase on the blank wall. I love it there and everyone will be able to admire it there. Glad you had a wonderful vacation! ❤
Oh, that little laundry hamper with "Wäshe" embroidered in blue - *in German* ! Wouldn't that have been cute in your laundry room? 🩵 I love your Dad's painting over the stair beam!
Hi Andrea! I liked the artwork going up the stairs where you can still see it from the living room and entryway. That gives more people the opportunity to see it and enjoy it. You will see it more as it is a more prominent location, I agree that it is a little "moody" and seems dark when it was in the living area where the other pictures were hung. The white matting on. the cow print lightens up the area more than the heaviness of the painting. All of us that love to decorate know we have to "live" with decor for awhile before we can decide where the item fits the best. And the best part, is we can move the piece around which changes the dynamic of the decor around it. I was thinking come Fall the painting may look great in the living area next to the others as colors are darker and more moody in Fall/Winter.
Loved seeing my favorite town. Lived on Oak Island for 20 years on NE 54th street. I miss it so very much. Have only been in Florida the past 3 years. I loved seeing my old thrifting haunts. ❤
When you tried the painting in your sofa corner, it pulled together the darker tones of couch and lamp. So a moody painting would look really good there - but a slightly bigger one.
Hello Andrea, it looks like the signature on the coasters is from the Fürstenberg Porcelain company (founded in 1747). I love your interior design style and I look forward to every video. All the best from Germany. 🥰
I agree with another's comment, the art looks great descending the stairs. I do like the option of it going up the stairs with other pics to create a gallery wall as well. The pretty white scalloped plate should defintely replace the Pfaltzgraff plate. So pretty!😍 I just love your choice of baskets too! Oh, and I ended purchasing the lantern you have above your dining table for over my island in the kitchen. I just love it!!! You're channel is one of my favorites!🙌🤗💕
I love that picture in both places by the stairs, it fits perfectly. In your living room it is too small for the big wall. Homer Laughlin made the best dishes! So many beautiful patterns and styles.
What a lucky find on those dishes. I collect them as well. They remind me of the old vintage crocks which I have as well. I love finding the small pieces that match them as well mugs, bowls, platters. So many different pieces. Old restaurant ware dishes!!
Your home looks lovely. The beautiful painting looked beautiful next to the window going up the stairs because of the light shining on the painting. It is a dark painting and on camera looking at it on my phone, I could see it better next to light place. If that makes sense. I live in Germany, my partner is German. 😅 I dont live the Stuttgart tile in the frame but I think it would make a great truvette to place a hot teapot on, in the kitchen. As you said, the tile would look better out the frame. Ir, you could use white chalk oaint to pant the frame and distress it abit to fit in with the athestic of your home. I am Italian and English, and love the white Italian dishes and can see them in a plate holder too. I thrift alot in Germany and jeep an eye out for Italian pottery and glass. You are a girl after my own heart. Your son talking baby talk to the cat is so cute. Thanks for sharing your family home, memories, thrifting expeditions, and yoyr photo's. Enjoy alk your lovely finds. 💖😊💐🤗😺👋
Great finds! I think the german tile would look wonderful in your sunroom/your husband's office. It would be a little reminder of where he grew up and also add a small touch of black to the room.
Good morning Andrea, I just loved going along on your trip and seeing the lovely items you brought home with you. I was curious what you were going to tell us about that little wire basket, the video jumped to something else and I thought I had missed something so I backed it up. The picture looks perfect above the steps. I think you should put it there, it’s your home and even though you share with us, we don’t need to be able to see everything. You need to make your home unique and special to you. The tile showing where your husband was born would look amazing on a wall in your dining room or used on the center of your table to ground a vignette, on your counter for hot pots, so many ideas. I even thought of your laundry area. Something to put on the wall or stand at the back of your counter with jars of soaps in front. Seeing your little Isaiah was so special, reminded me of my 2 year old grandson.
I love the artwork coming down on the blank wall of your stairwell… Replacing the heart basket. Every day you would see it and think of how sweet your dad was to get it for you.
Thank you! 😊
No joke I was just in those thrift stores and Northrop Antique store. I purchased an old watering can from that booth with the jugs. Loved Southpointe!
Me too!
I love the picture by the stairs on the empty wall. Write down the story of your Daddy surprising you and put it in an envelope and tape it to the back of the picture.
Thank you! Great idea! 😊
Your dad getting the painting for you after pretending it didn't work out, my heart! So sweet!
He really is! 😊
I love the idea of going up the stairs with the artwork. So sweet of your dad to get for you. I miss my daddy. ❤
So endearing. I miss my dad still.😢
I would love your painting that your Dad surprised you with either in your living room or stairway going upstairs. Giving it a place of prominence will let know how beautiful and special his gift was to you. Sweet Dad!😘
Yes, he is very special! 😊
Watching your little boy talking to his kitty...warmed my heart. Precious. 💜💜💜
He is so precious 🥰❤️
My mom was an amateur interior designer; her home was always lovely! Her philosophy was, “buy what you love, don’t worry about where it would go. When you get home, just walk around with the piece until you find the perfect spot for it.” 😊 ~Cathy
Yes, the painting should be up the stairway in either place! So beautiful.
Thanks! 😊

I agree that seeing the artwork when descending the stairs would be wonderful 😊
Oh the artwork above the beam!! Dad’s are the best❤
Thanks! And yes, he is!! 😊
This is my favorite spot too
I was amazed at the incredible pieces the host discovered in thrift stores - it really goes to show that you can find stylish and affordable clothing anywhere. I got so many ideas for mixing and matching different pieces to create new outfits!
Since the Stuttgart tile is raised above the frame, you can use it as a trivet for hot bowls on your table or next to your stove when cooking.
Isaiah and the cat at the door! “This way, or that way?” 🥰 So sweet!
😊❤❤
Thank you for stopping in and giving The Painted Mermaid a shoutout! Awesome to find and follow you too. Hope to see you again on your next trip! :) - Amy
I love the art work on the beam above the stairs.
Isaiah he’s so cute especially when he was speaking to the cat. I think the artwork would look good over the beam. I love the way you decorate your home. Andrea, thank you for sharing your thrift finds with us. Blessings to you and yours.

Looking forward when my little rainbow great granddaughter Stella will be born in September. Please pray for my granddaughter Ashley and her precious rainbow baby Stella.
Thank you! I will be praying for Ashley and Stella! 😊❤
I made each of my four kids a photo album. They all thought it was the greatest gift.
I love the oil painting your dad got you the best on the stair wall.
My mom has done the same. Thanks! 😊
So glad you’re doing that for your children. I did that for my granddaughters. All their photos are on their phones, just like most people nowadays. I love the photo albums.
Awe, sweet daddy!
And yes, art work on the wall near the couch
Ok, above the stairs wit the heart is really good too. You could still keep the heart there
Awe, what a little cutie pie talking to the kitty ❤
I like the painting on the stairwell wall above the heart basket.
I love that your sweet Dad surprised you with the painting! And Isaiah talking to your cat was so sweet 😊
Check out the plates. If they are chipped and IF they contain lead, be sure they are only decorative.
I love the painting on the stairs where you look at that wall every day! What a cool thrift find, the plate with the German town your husband is from.
Your sweet son talking to his cat brought back memories. When my youngest son was about his age(he's now 25) he would have many a sweet conversation with our dog. My son was blonde too. Just precious.
Awww!! Thank you! ☺️
Yes, I love the artwork coming down your stairs!!
I think you should hang the Stuttgart tile in the nook over your stairs and move the oil painting the the stairway and add a couple more paintings there. I love seeing your finds!
Maybe it would look good by the front door. You could also use it if you do any retiling… maybe you will need to at some stage
Thanks for the ideas! 😊
I would put the artwork on the living room wall and move the wire baskets to the entryway right above your three tier basket. Beautiful
Love the attitude that people treat old stuff in USA.
I vote for the collage of artwork going up the stairs
I think the crates look better in the living room. The dark picture looks fantastic above the stairs. But you know best.
Thanks! 😊
yes over the stairs or going up the stairs, but i think you will enjoy it more over the stairs. I love prints or paintings with old country roads (those dirt roads with a little cure to them), so sweet.

Yes the painting actually looks great on the beam! Perfect! But it would also look good centered on a nail.
What a great trip! Thank you for taking me along.
Love the gifted books and where you put them.

Stuttgart tile..add little feet and make it a trivet /riser
Great idea! 😊
That's A great idea!
Enjoy
I would do a larger scale piece by the sofa, where the crates are. It would fill the wall out nicely, or a gallery wall.
The stutgart tile would look nice in the kitchen. Maybe on the counter on a plate stand. It is dark and so is the counter. Trivet would be nice too, only if it does not get scratched.

Antiquing and thrifting paradise. So many treasures.
How sweet, In the beginning of the video I noticed the blue/gold, Chuck Yeager bridge in my home state of WV. NC has some of the greatest thrift/antique stores.
Use the tile for a trivet.

I love the artwork, which is beautiful and a good deal thanks to your negotiator dad, on the crate wall. Hang it and the two crates. That wall can take all three IMO.
Stairwell...so we can all enjoy it...and it gives enough light to see the beauty of the painting
I love the picture on your stairwell wall upstairs - in the place of the heart basket. Fun finds!❤
definitely art work on the wall as opposed to the metal baskets. More high end and mood evoking. love your style ans sweet voice 🥰
I liked the artwork in the space coming down the steps❤
The art work looks beautiful hanging in the staircase on the blank wall. I love it there and everyone will be able to admire it there. Glad you had a wonderful vacation! ❤
Oh, that little laundry hamper with "Wäshe" embroidered in blue - *in German* ! Wouldn't that have been cute in your laundry room? 🩵
I love your Dad's painting over the stair beam!
Hi Andrea! I liked the artwork going up the stairs where you can still see it from the living room and entryway. That gives more people the opportunity to see it and enjoy it. Loved seeing my favorite town. Lived on Oak Island for 20 years on NE 54th street. I miss it so very much. Have only been in Florida the past 3 years. I loved seeing my old thrifting haunts. ❤
Aww! We love it there!! 😊
Put the artwork with the crates especially it would be a group of three which always looks nice❤
When you tried the painting in your sofa corner, it pulled together the darker tones of couch and lamp. So a moody painting would look really good there - but a slightly bigger one.
I think the Stuttgart tile art would look great in your kitchen.
Your picture on the stair wall looks perfect.Lovely finds.😄🎉
I love watching your videos Andrea.😊 Love the picture by the window or wall where your heart basket is displayed most.
Hello Andrea, it looks like the signature on the coasters is from the Fürstenberg Porcelain company (founded in 1747). I love your interior design style and I look forward to every video. All the best from Germany. 🥰
Thank you so much! 😊
What a great dad! Noah is adorable!
I love that picture in both places by the stairs, it fits perfectly. In your living room it is too small for the big wall. Homer Laughlin made the best dishes! So many beautiful patterns and styles.
Aww children r so precious ❤
I would hang the Stuttgart picture up as art work. It is beautiful!
Way to go, Mike, thank you. It looks beautiful. Just keep an eye on those beadboard corners use plaster tape prevent cracking
By the stairs for that art print. So pretty.
What a lucky find on those dishes. I collect them as well. They remind me of the old vintage crocks which I have as well. I love finding the small pieces that match them as well mugs, bowls, platters. So many different pieces. Old restaurant ware dishes!!
I love the art work in the stairway. How nice that your dad surprised you with it.
I love the artwork going up the stairs
Your home looks lovely. The beautiful painting looked beautiful next to the window going up the stairs because of the light shining on the painting. It is a dark painting and on camera looking at it on my phone, I could see it better next to light place. If that makes sense.
I live in Germany, my partner is German. 😅
I dont live the Stuttgart tile in the frame but I think it would make a great truvette to place a hot teapot on, in the kitchen.
Please excuse typo's. 😅
Great finds! I think the german tile would look wonderful in your sunroom/your husband's office. It would be a little reminder of where he grew up and also add a small touch of black to the room.
Great idea! 😊
I like it on this new wall. Put the crate on top of each other. Tile in your bedroom.
I love your videos and your home, and would love to know the wall colors that you use, particularly the light gray! So peaceful and beautiful.
Good morning Andrea,
I just loved going along on your trip and seeing the lovely items you brought home with you.
How fun!! I live in Southport and shop Oak Island and SPT both. I've gotten many thrifted treasures for my home. Thanks for visiting our seaside town!
