Thankyou kind sir! I was feeling lost in life and suddenly today while cleaning my book stack, my 5th grade computer book fell upon me. There I found this chapter and thought I should give it a try.
I was a programmer using Basis Business Basic on the MAI Basic Four computer, a small mainframe that could support up to128 users. I coded for clients in nursing, insurance, overnight lending, distributorships and real estate management. I retired in 2001, but occasionally see posting for jobs and called BBX and BBJ Basic. I never used Basic on PCs the younger programmers I worked with did and that lead them to becoming programmers.
I do most of my Coding in Liberty basic, and have been for a few years. I still like to push it, and think out of the box and come up with unique ways to do tasks in Liberty, most of the commands are similar to Replit. but like you said each individual system has its own syntax. I started off in Apple basic in High school. "Class of 84" I also had a TI 99-4A at one time and a Basis-108 that could do a form of basic that was a Apple basic clone, and CPM I love, Sleep, dream and practically eat coding! 😍😀
Sounds like we are roughly the same generation - I started off with a Timex Sinclair 1000 (ZX81), then went to a VIC-20, and finally a Commodore 64. Good times!
@@TokyoEdTech absolutely! I'll get an Idea for a program, and work at it , and if I hit a snag, I put it aside for a while and go back to other programs that I haven't finished yet. luckily, there is an online forum for Liberty basic, so if I get really stuck, or the help file is no help at all for what I am trying to do, I can get help there.
Old school coding remember with a glint in the eye, forget the slight issues, programing then trying to load the next day from a tape, getting the volume right. (beep feee beep) . That's after negotiating with siblings for use of the TV (which normally involved money) mine to them. Ha ha ha
I don't see YaBasic. It came with Play Station 2. It's been emulated on PC. Great for writing tool like programs. It's best feature is the print and text screens.
Hi, I have a old book (circa 1977) with some BASIC programs using MAT keyword. Could you suggest me some modern computer BASIC that still have these keywords?
Sorry - no idea on that one. I did some googling and it looks like Basic Plus. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/BASIC-PLUS Check out @OldSkoolCoder on You Tube and join his Discord. Someone there will be able to tell you.
I’m currently invested because I have a basic programming application on my New Nintendo 3Ds xl ; essentially pong could be remade into pong 3D using b.a.s.i.c
I'm not able to go into replit, and I didn't go anywhere as the signup feature took me to a blank page, I did go to your : Download the code here and I'm not sure what to do there man
@@mikayelalikhanyan1587 Sorry, I can't help with repl.it. You can try a different browser to see if they helps. Otherwise contact their customer support. The link takes you to s page with the programs I wrote in the video. You can read them or download them or copy and paste into repl once you get out working.
@@TokyoEdTech would you happen to know about the basic that’s on the Nintendo 3ds? I’ve found a lot of good resources but I still don’t understand which one I’m working with

BASIC launched thousands of IT careers - it's a classic for a reason!

Those were the days! Hard to believe how far we have come in just one lifetime....wonder what the next lifetime will bring!
Awesome video man! Like to watch your videos while I’m working.
Thanks - soothing background music!
Idk why, but I love the idea of numbering lines of code by tens
@@Seth_Stewart It has a nostalgic appeal for sure!
I had a old Sharp Digital diary. It had basic lang inbuilt, even had downloadable programs.
BASIC was everywhere back in the day!
Great video! Sorry I missed the live :(
Happy Valentines Day! 💕
Thanks - next time!

Cool - I didn't know about that one...there were hundreds of variants over the years. The legacy and reach out BASIC is amazing!
i use chipmunk basic for my mac laptop and comodore basic for my ipad.
Cool - I will have to check them out!

There are a lot i dint understand. I need assistance, REM, LET BASIC itself.
Try going through slowly one step at a time.
Could I code a basic header like on our phones?? Like small like with time and date etc
It really depends - if you can find a BASIC interpreter you can probably write simple programs.
And I was wondering about your new videos... 🤔😏
Yeah it's been a while. I've been quite busy.

@@TokyoEdTech ok, honestly i think text editor could work as a basic ide to run your code

Will you cover graphics?
I doubt it. Graphics varied greatly from machine to machine. I do have a Rock Paper Scissors tutorial coming up.
Why there is grid?
You can use it to draw graphics.
What about style in basic
Not much style there...too old school.
27:45 that close parenthesis automatically being typed made me snort :D I bet you pressed delete just as you were about to write a semi colon :D

Excuse me… did you just say b.a.s.i.c. Is “apple II” as in “AppleSoft “BASIC””
There were dozens or perhaps dozens of versions of BASIC over the years. I used Commodore BASIC which was made by Microsoft.
