    Have you ever tried making Jerky at home?? It is soooooo much better (and cheaper, by ALOT) than the store bought stuff!! Thank you do much for being here with me again today!! This is another one for the Turkey series but added a bonus Beef version as well 💕 both are very yummy!

    curing salt has nitrates in it which is not good for you. You do not need the nitrates to cure contrary to popular belief. Using regular salt the meat will shrink in size but will have no adverse impact on longevity but will be much better for your health

    At the end you said you would put them in a jar. How do you store them and how long can they be stored. Thank you....I've got 3 turkeys set out to do your lunch meat, jerky and canned meat and broth with :)

      Hi Kimberly! They will last for many many weeks with a moisture absorber in a sealed jar in the refrigerator. You can also store them in a ziplock bag in the refrigerator.

    How long does the turkey have to be in dehidrator?

    • @KristinatMiniSliceoffarm
      @KristinatMiniSliceoffarm  2 роки тому +1

      That depends on the thickness of your jerky and your dehydrator. Typically anywhere from 8 to 12 hours to do it. I generally check it every few hours after 6 hours

    I was shocked that I couldn't even tell these were made with the sugar substitute!

    Why would you need nitrates and nitrites in such a small batch I know the industry uses it because it needs to sit on the shelf for such a long time but for home use I don’t think it’s needed plus it’s very toxic to our bodies but to your own research knowledge is power

      Great video! So clean and just what I needed to use my excalibur dehydrator.
      I agree with you, personally I won't use it and I know the jerky won't last really long in the house 😉
