What I've always loved about Evanescence is that yes, her music is dark, it's ponderous and emotional but in a beautiful, brilliant way not in a macabre or depressing way
True that. We just connect to our own sadness but not in a devastous, suicidal way or in a way that makes we angry against humanity etc. It's a therapeutic, soft sort of way. I use to believe it is because Amy compounds really inspired and with her heart, not her mind. So only beautiful things come out.
Give me a reason to believe that you're gone I see your shadow so I know they're all wrong Moonlight on the soft brown earth It leads me to where you lay They took you away from me but now I'm taking you home I will stay forever here with you My love The softly spoken words you gave me Even in death our love goes on Some say I'm crazy for my love, oh my love But no bonds can hold me from your side, oh my love They don't know you can't leave me They don't hear you singing to me I will stay forever here with you My love The softly spoken words you gave me Even in death our love goes on And I can't love you, anymore than I do.
Thank you, the subtitles is absurdly hard to read, they move to a place one minute and then move to another place another minute! And thanks to you now I'm finally being able to sing it! T H A N K Y O U !
I heard this song in the past but never really connected with it, that changed two days ago whn I heard it again and the tears started streamin' down my face (six weeks ago my soulemate, best friend and love of m life died after just a few months we had been together, yet it felt like years) and there was even a time where I could see her right infront of me, not in flesh and blood, like half transperent, yet it felt like there's actually someone, her, behind that image/silhoutte... it might just be my mind playin' a trick on me to handle the pain better, or maybe our strong soul to soul connection still works, who knows. Either way, it's still an breath takin' experience that I had while listenin' to this song!
I've always been a fan of the riff on the original but when I heard this version I got chills. It's a much darker approach and you get to truly feel the meaning behind the song.
Yes, the original ones had a spark to it, yes, it may not be as "perfect" as before but I see no problem with mixing it up a little or trying something different, especially if it works. I like what she's done with this piece. It's not as loud, which means it cuts deeper in a way, so to speak. I hear this, and what comes to mind is an initially tough brazen warrior revealing his more vulnerable and softer, true, self. Besides, I think we've all seen what happens when people try to copy past formulas in the movies. Or when they stick to one formula for too long
All I see is people saying this is NOT as good as the original Even In Death, some even say this is not "goth". You people don't have a clue about all the emotional, pure , dark and sad version this is. Personally I think this is the real "face" of the song. Besides It's a new version.
i would have to agree, now that i have heard both versions of this song. as much as i love the hauntiness of the rock song, i have to say i'm siding with piano version. there is just so much more raw, powerful emotion shown in this song compared to the rock version.
Same. Maybe it's because I prefer strings and piano a lot of the time, but for a song lamenting death, I heard this version for the first time a couple of days ago and I just got chills like I didn't get with the original. I feel like this version is so much softer, darker, and more emotional with those terrible minor notes that just haunt you with their tonality (note I use "terrible" less as a "they are bad" and more as you might describe a frightening monster - they're perfect for this). I just think this is so much more fitting for the themes of this song and it's glorious!
I absolutely love her. She is a beauty and I love her dark lyrics. My writing is inspired by her. As is my artwork. Her songs like this speak to me deeply.
Hearing this song brings back memories of my lost love. And I feel how strong the love still is even so many years later. Never has anyone gave my heart the peace he did. December 2 it will be 8 years 😭 Thank you Amy Lee for this song

Amy Lee wrote the song in 1996 about a hypothetical of loving someone so much that you'd bring them back from the dead. It's 1 of 5 pre-Fallen songs to be played on radio. Additionally, "Even In Death" is the only pre-Fallen song to ever be performed live on radio. Amy re-recorded the song for the compilation album Lost Whispers. The intro uses a sample from White Zombie's "Ratfinks, Suicide Tanks and Cannibal Girls", which was released four years prior. The same sample was also used later in "Snow White Queen" from 2006's The Open Door. The song also features a clip from the movie "The Crow". Amy's quote about the song from a 2004 Metal Edge magazine interview: "It's interesting - I don't understand why, but it's more sexual, not necessarily in the lyrical content, but just in the feel of the music for me, the song seems really sexual. I have no good reason for that, but that has always been that song for me, it's cool because that song is kind of different. The song wasn't written from life experience, it was basically just a cool story." Ben's quote about the song from that 2003 interview: "That was so long ago...I was like eighteen, and we just found this little loop thing, and we just thought it sounded really cool and crazy and we thought it would be really cool to build a song around it. Then, one day, Amy and I thought about someone who's in a relationship, they lose their loved one, and they kind of flip out, and they go and dig them up, kind of like [Tom Petty's ]"Mary Jane's Last Dance" - We kind of thought we'd take that one step further." In the Metal Edge interview, when asked why the song wasn't on Fallen, Amy said: "Well, we have a lot of songs that I think are pretty good that didn't make it on the record. That's one of my favorites that didn't make it, one out of maybe six." In 2016, speaking about the Origin demo and her re-recording of the song on Lost Whispers, Amy stated that the song was 20 years old, from 1996, and stated: "That song was a little bit of storytelling about not wanting to accept the death of your loved one and just going nuts-to the point that I would go out and dig up the grave. We rerecorded it for the box set because the only recording I had was a rough demo from [when I was] a kid. [The album it’s on,] Origin, is made up of very old embarrassing journal pages from middle school. [The new version of] “Even in Death” is still a cool song; it honors the things I loved about the original, but it’s now in a beautiful light that speaks to who I am today. It feels like redemption." "Even in Death" was remade for the compilation album Lost Whispers and specifically for the release of The Ultimate Collection box set. The instrumentals of the remake are solely piano-based with a cello (by Dave Eggar) playing occasionally in the background. Amy on the re-recording of the song: I looked through Origin for the first time in many years this year, through this experience, and that song has always been one that has a good heart and I still like the lyrics. [But] our old recording of it is really bad, it’s us as kids with whatever we can find to record with. I think that’s the hardest part for me. You can always redo production but lyrics are lyrics; if the lyrics are dumb, I just can’t get my head around enjoying it. I think that ‘Even in Death’ has some beautiful lyrics that actually are very much in the art and vision of what Evanescence grew into. So I took that song and redid it with my collaborator friend Dave Eggar, on cello, in New York, and we made this really different version that I love. It just felt like redeeming the song.
This is an amazingly good version. The vocals, the piano. Almost perfect. And I say almost because I miss the guitar part at 2:36. This version is darker, but it's missing the explosion of tragic and desperate feelings that those guitars gave it.
honestly i lve both versions of this song. this one and the original. i feel like they're so different, so i don't both comparing them or picking a favourite. They both have a place in my world, because they're both wonderful
Dedico esse hino para meus avós paternos e principalmente para minha vovó Laura ,te amo muito a cada segundos e no dia que nós encontramos vou abraçar como nunca bjs te sua bisneta Jaciara 😢😢😢🙌🙌🙌❤️
Circa 2006 I always used to skip Even In Death when it came up my Itunes (I had downloaded it from Limewire. Good times). I see a lot of people in the comments saying they prefer the original, but I definitely like this version a lot more. The strings and piano are beautiful.
Oh wow. I loved this song from their first album Origin, but this is just as good. Perhaps even better, now that Amy's vocals have improved. Without the guitar and techno from the original version, it really adds more power.
Even in death - Evanescence. Give me a reason to believe that you're gone I see your shadow so I know they're all wrong. Moonlight on the soft brown earth It leads me to where you lay They took you away from me but now I'm taking you home I will stay forever here with you My love The softly spoken words you gave me Even in death our love goes on Some say I'm crazy for my love, oh my love But no bonds can hold me from your side, oh my love They don't know you can't leave me They don't hear you singing to me I will stay forever here with you My love The softly spoken words you gave me Even in death our love goes on And I can't love you anymore than I do
I can't believe I didn't know this version existed until today. Evanescence never dissapoints me
I guess they re-recorded it, cause the other version of this song is unreleased actually
What other version is there?
People die, but real love is forever.
I love this version ten million times more than the original but I am bummed that part was left out
"The Crow..."
This definitely hits different during this pandemic. Love to all who have lost somebody. What a year!
3:19 that voice crack at "you gave me"... Pefection
What I've always loved about Evanescence is that yes, her music is dark, it's ponderous and emotional but in a beautiful, brilliant way not in a macabre or depressing way

This version.. it's even more haunting than the original. I'm getting shivers. So perfect
Yep, I prefer this version.
I'm not ashamed to admit this one got me misty eyed.
I love both. Is that weird?
Love this. The piano made it sound so dark. I love it
Give me a reason to believe that you're gone
I see your shadow so I know they're all wrong
Moonlight on the soft brown earth
It leads me to where you lay
They took you away from me but now I'm taking you home
I will stay forever here with you
My love
The softly spoken words you gave me
Even in death our love goes on
Some say I'm crazy for my love, oh my love
But no bonds can hold me from your side, oh my love
They don't know you can't leave me
They don't hear you singing to me
I will stay forever here with you
My love
The softly spoken words you gave me
Even in death our love goes on
And I can't love you, anymore than I do.

@@ScourgeofShadows9869 Mabye it´s she who are death and can see and hear everything her alive love walking around her grave and talk and sing to her.
I didn't know this version existed. So beautiful.
How anyone thinks the original is better, I will never understand. Her vocals on this... holy shit.
I agree entirely...
She's nothing short of amazing!!
That piano is just heart wrenching. That womans heart is really broken.
This voice give me chills omg, Amy sings with so much passion...my fav singer ever!!!
I'm used to the original version but this one is nice too.
I've always been a fan of the riff on the original but when I heard this version I got chills. It's a much darker approach and you get to truly feel the meaning behind the song.

This version is way better.
which is?
All I see is people saying this is NOT as good as the original Even In Death, some even say this is not "goth".
You people don't have a clue about all the emotional, pure , dark and sad version this is. Personally I think this is the real "face" of the song.
Besides It's a new version.
I agree
i would have to agree, now that i have heard both versions of this song. as much as i love the hauntiness of the rock song, i have to say i'm siding with piano version. there is just so much more raw, powerful emotion shown in this song compared to the rock version.
It's pure Evanescence!!! The soul of Amy, dark and beutiful in this version 🖤🖤🖤🖤
Same. This is my favorite album! This song is so beautiful. It lifts my soul.
A voz da Amy, esse solo de piano e cello.. 😍😍❤❤ é arrepios do começo ao fim nessa versão!! (Nunca conseguirei decidir se prefiro a original ou essa 😻)
Hearing this song brings back memories of my lost love. And I feel how strong the love still is even so many years later. Never has anyone gave my heart the peace he did. December 2 it will be 8 years

This is totally deep
This song made me cry, gave me goosebumps

honestly i lve both versions of this song. this one and the original. i feel like they're so different, so i don't both comparing them or picking a favourite. They both have a place in my world, because they're both wonderful

Tha voice if this woman is super she is an angel not human ❤
How come this song doesn't have a million likes?
Wow,simply wow
Circa 2006 I always used to skip Even In Death when it came up my Itunes (I had downloaded it from Limewire. Good times). I see a lot of people in the comments saying they prefer the original, but I definitely like this version a lot more. The strings and piano are beautiful.
Ahhhh (wo)mann!
Makes me sad but so happy and relieved at same time.
1:53 - 2:04
wow....just....wow
love you so much for revisiting this song
Oh wow. I loved this song from their first album Origin, but this is just as good. Perhaps even better, now that Amy's vocals have improved. Without the guitar and techno from the original version, it really adds more power.
Even in death - Evanescence.
Give me a reason to believe that you're gone
I see your shadow so I know they're all wrong.
Moonlight on the soft brown earth
It leads me to where you lay
They took you away from me but now I'm taking you home
I will stay forever here with you
My love
The softly spoken words you gave me
Even in death our love goes on
Some say I'm crazy for my love, oh my love
But no bonds can hold me from your side, oh my love
They don't know you can't leave me
They don't hear you singing to me
I will stay forever here with you
My love
The softly spoken words you gave me
Even in death our love goes on
And I can't love you anymore than I do
I Love you evanescence
Essa voz 💜💜
Welcome back from Egypt we missed you so much ❤❤😍😊
Even with simple music and simple lyrics Amy Lee can captivate you, missing old days when Evanescence had Ben Moody :(
