  • A fantastic sounding example of a mid '50s hollowbody featuring a trio of dog ear P-90s. The ES-5 was first introduced in '49 and was the first ES guitar to features three pickups. This particular example has a spruce top which was only done on a limited number of ES guitars in the mid '50s.
    This '56 once had a Bigsby which has since been removed and replaced with an original ES-5 tailpiece. The guitar has a replica pickguard made by Joe Glaser, replacement tuners (originals in case), and a replacement bridge (original in case).

    What I respect about JD is that he knows what that particular guitar (any guitar) he happens to be behind is suppose to sound like..

    I am such a fan of jump blues and vintage guitars from that era! This sounds so good, so present and you can feel it the moment the first notes are played.

    Came for the guitar, stayed for the playing. That is absolutely killer, you really don't hear that every day.

    this is great. i always like to research guitars and hear them but so many people on youtube who do demos just really can't play well enough or record with no gear and you can't hear the full tone of the instrument

    Finally!! An ES 5 done right! Thanks For those clean pickup choices.

    Damn that sounds good, out of all the guitar demoer's your setup sound the best, the clearest, and the highest quality!
    I would love to hear some personality and I'd love to hear the people playing these instruments talk about them
    But hey, awesome!

      Agnesi is a different style - I watch him more for the background that he presents on the guitars and his own personality.
      Mr Simo is a truly fine player, although Mr Agnesi does well also.

    • @CurtisMcLeodMusic
      @CurtisMcLeodMusic 6 років тому +1

      Could you imagine if Agnesi did the narrating and then when it was time to actually play the guitars he did videos like Carter does? (With phenomenal players) omg that would be the most amazing channel EVER. I hardly ever stick around to watch Mark play anymore. I love his personality though.

    Would like to hear someone go through all five pickup combinations here through an amp that isn’t overdriven/distorted, to get a better sense of its tones. Some jazz chord comping. Some blues stuff. Some country stuff. Maybe even some folky Americans fingerstyle arpeggios- you know- someone who can and will flesh out the full sonic capability of the guitar via various styles, in a demo of the guitar.

      Chromatick well good looks would attract more people to discover his talent, so its not an unreasonable wish

    • @EBrassfield
      @EBrassfield 5 років тому +1

      He doesn't need
      "discovering", that is a word for people with not enough talent who's focus is fame, and not there for the music. 15 yr old girls with their hair and make up on, lip-syncing on youtube is "trying to be discovered" . Last time I saw him was over 15 years ago, he was still a teenager. I don't care how people look, its how they sound. He played his ass off then and he plays his ass off now. If you're a true artist, you don't want people to come to your shows to look at you, you want them to come and feel the music.
