Falcon 9 Rocket Dawn Launch (not so spectacular!) Raw Footage Clip V23316

- I was hoping for a repeat performance of last year's spectacular light show resulting from the launch of a Spacex Falcon 9 rocket in the twilight minutes before sun-up, but it just wasn't in the cards. The event was less than spectacular, but interesting none the less. This portion of the raw footage shows how the launch looked from Santa Clarita, California - over 100 miles away.
Tune in to Vandenberg AFB website here for the latest upcoming launch info: www.vandenberg....
Contains JCMDI video catalog #s: V23315

Wow, staging and skirt sep from the ground! Pretty spectacular to me! 👍
It is pretty cool to see it in person - even from 100 miles away. Thanks so much for watching and commenting! =)
Great. Thank you. Greetings from Germany
Thanks so much for watching - I'm happy you enjoyed it!
cool video. Thanks for sharing.
I'm lad you enjoyed the show - thanks for stopping by! =)
Thank you JC...great to see regardless of how
spectacular....Thank you for getting up in the
wee hours to film it !!
Thanks for the kind words =) Funny you should mention the getting up early thing - this launch had been delayed 4 or 5 times before finally launching this time, and I had gotten up early for some of those as well! =)
It's always so cool to see a rocket launch no matter if you're far from the launch site. I'm hoping I can film the space station solar transit today. I hope there will be no clouds.
I hadn't heard of that - I'll have to see if it will be visible in my area. It's totally clear here and I have the proper filters for solar events... Thanks for the heads-up! =)
No prob. I'm in Florida so it will be visible here in different parts of the state at different times. You can use the website Transit Finder and put your coordinates in it and it will tell you if there will be a transit, lunar or solar, near you. That's how I found out about this. That's cool you have the filters. I made a cheap DYI for this and had a different one when I filmed the Eclipse. I have that video here if you haven't seen it. I think I showed my camera set up for that.
Looks like it's VERY location specific. Nothing coming my way for at least a month of so... I'll keep an eye on it!
You can open the map for a certain date and see there the middle line is. I know they can't predict it more than two months out. But it is a good website to keep checking. I'm sure it will around to your area soon.
I was able to film the ISS. I just put the video up.
You could hear the sound of the launch ?
Unfortunately it's much too far away to hear anything - I was 100 miles from the launch point, and it only got father away as it climbed into orbit. Even sonic booms made by the vehicle would be unlikely to travel this far. It's a shame, too, since some good dramatic audio would have really made the video more interesting! Any sounds you hear in the audio track, besides the music, is noise from a nearby road. Thanks so much for visiting! =)
Nice capture and I like the soundtrack. Has the fog lifted there ??
There still may be some morning overcast along the coast, but things are sunny and getting a lot warmer here after the last 2-3 weeks of early "June Gloom" (as we call it). I prefer the cooler temps with cloudy mornings and sunny but not too hot afternoons. Soon, it will be hitting 100+ here. Not looking forward to that! =)
Oh, how I do agree. We have had a lot of rain and fog, also. I think summer is upon us. The older I get the more I prefer the cooler temps, as well. Looking forward to more of your stellar work ! Stay cool !!
