Now that is what I call washing clothes. I was just a little boy back then my neighbor had this same Speed Queen washer and I remember going into her apartment and watching it wash. I also remember her and I having to hold it down when it spun because sometimes it would move around she would have to stop it if it moved too much and then started it back up again.
petermazbabie yes Speed Queens need a solid foundation to sit on. They really weren’t ever refined enough to be sitting on unstable structures. That’s something to think about, but also one of the reasons they performed as well as they have.
Mike's Channel those old buildings lucky they held us up that building was so old that it didn’t even have central heat in it. my parents had an old gas radiator that boiled water inside. Yet my mothers 56 GE did not move during spin.
Speed Queen's new design could be a failure. Someone made a video of the new 2018 Speed Queen washer washing on a empty load with two rags, and the rags barely moved around at all. Sales will definitely sink like stone for Speed Queen now since Speed Queen changed the design. I blame the EPA/DOE for forcing Speed Queen to change their design!!!!
Before long people will come to there sinces and spend there money on a more reliable appliance like Speed Queen. Like the old saying goes "You get what you pay for".
Jerome Davis the only modifications are electric pump and the inverter drives brought over from the front loaders otherwise the basic top loader machine design remains unchanged

Sean 1976 the last design up to 2017 wasn’t all impressive when that was introduced 30 years ago either. That’s when Speed Queen truly died!
