Dude I cried when halig died, I really got invested in this show it hit me really hard. I enjoy that the wicked priest got what he deserved along with the slave master, King Alfred is extremely smart in making sure Uhtred stay by his side.

The moment between Uhtred and Hild is beautiful. I love the friendship between these two characters. Despite the differences between their respective faiths and personalities, they have created a beautiful friendship built on trust and sincere affection. I am really glad that these two are friends. Great reaction to and analysis of this episode.

Man David Dawson’s portrayal of Alfred is truly remarkable. Even though he wasn’t in this episode as much, he still was fantastic. Easily the best character on the show and the one that holds it altogether for me.
Next episode is great so can’t wait!!

Leofric was written out like that already in the original books. I see him contributing to the growth of young Uhtred. He also makes way for new companions to come. He could've never abandoned Alfred for Uhtred but Uhtred will have men of his own that are loyal to him and men who guide him much like the way Leofric guided him through tough love and banter. 🙂 Losing Leofric hurt but I see it as a necessity for Uhtred story and growth. It made him realise that no matter how tough you are you may still lose in battle. You are not invincible.
Hanna Lindén Well said, and great comments, Hanna! It is nice seeing how quickly Uhtred mature throughout the series. And, I agree with you, Uhtred ended up with some brilliant warriors to fight alongside and watch his back, in and out of battle, so far. I think, even the most elite and season warrior tended to forget that any fight could be their last fight. It is good that Uhtred had a good set of men to remind him of that.
Ragnar saving Uthred got me too! I had watery eyes, true manly tears... Who has a brother can understand. Great reaction man, as always!

I love me some Finan!! He's such a special warrior and strong too. Taking out an enemy, even when he's badly wounded, Finan is the man!! And, he's wise too, like an old soul. Also, I love how Ultred protects his ladies when they are in trouble, and also his character is starting to find his own rhythm. I still say Ultred is a fascinating warrior, and then you add Finan who equally has his own personal swag going on..... From this very moment, this series is going to get better and better.
Yes man, this was a hard and sentimental episode to watch. Also one of the greatest in Season 2. Halig's death, Ragnar's rescue, Uhtred broken and his physical weakness, his scene with Hild... dude... i love this show! All that GOT missed last two o three seasons is here.
Awesome reaction man. Honestly that was the episode where I felt that the show is leveling up. So emotional. It's also great seeing Alexander Dreymon really evolving as an actor through the journey. Remember that soundtrack, starting at 14:55. They always choose that piece for every emotional scenes and mainly for the turning points of Uhtred. Now every time I listen to it, i get goosebumps and tears in my eyes.

The reason Leofrich was killed off Sith is because he died at that point in the books I think
Uhtred and Aethelred are cousins in the books through Uhtred's mother. Also, when Uhtred returns from slavery in the books, he actually respects Guthred's decision to send him away and doesn't resent him for it.

Fun fact: The scene where Mark Rowley (Finan) goes and kills the slaver and says "pull" was done in one take. They told him he only had one take to get it and astoundingly he pulled it off perfectly in my opinion.
He really did fall in the escape. There's a video making this episode on youtube. He couldn't lose the amount of weight he would need to lose to look starved for one episode so wardrobe put him in oversized clothes. The pants were huge and he had to constantly hold them up and he tripped over them in that scene.

The first 3 episodes have been the hardest episodes to watch without becoming emotional or having a feeling of disgust. They should've gotten an award for their acting, because it was truly remarkable what they went through in the first 3 episodes alone. I love the last Kingdom & can't wait till season 4. Destiny is All!

Why do people keep defending Alfred, he's clearly using his Greatest Warrior. Alfred use everyone to his advantage, even if it put that character ambitious off to appease his.

This is one of my favorite episodes of the entire series. While this show has many emotional moments besides the loss of his baby in the first season this moment really hit. To see Uhtred So broken and ashamed of being a slave was very hard to see.The moment with hallig on the boat and the pain you can see in his face as he's being forced to row harder so that he may essentially give his friend a faster death so that he does not suffer. I can't imagine what something like that would do to a person, especially hearing his screams but not seeing him. I think another thing that gives a show the gravity in weight is the music. I find their music to be very emotional and touching. I also love the relationship between Hilde and Uhtred. They have The Last Kingdom soundtrack available on UA-cam, and it's has some fantastic music from the first 3 seasons. Great video Sith, in trust me you're not the only one that gets a bit teary eyed in some of these moments.

Started watching this series a few weeks back after Vikings ended and this ep was by FAR the most powerful episode I’ve seen to date (on s2 ep6) . Holy crap what amazing acting on Alexander Draymons part. Totally sold me on the relationship he had formed with Halig...poor dude. And am loving how loyal Hild is. This episode made me really really like this show. Friggin Guthred is a weak ass prick and the brothers Erik and Siegfried are an interesting part of this mix. Hope Finan sticks around a little while.
Little fact: King Cheowulf from Mercia is the executioner dude in Braveheart.
In the books ragnar goes out in 'the red ship' and chases em down.... Finnan is my favourite character hope they dwell more into his stories from the books

David Dawson Is great in this series but Alexander’s portrayal is why I keep watching. He captures the irreverent yet loyal personality the young actor in the first series instilled. You love him even when stupid is his nature.

I agree, those last episodes were good, (SPOILERS) especially either episode 5 or 6 (?) when Landry was armed to the teeth with weapons, to seek revenge for some of his fallen knights, that were killed brutally in that forest. He went into that fight not knowing if he would survive. Landry is my favorite
character on that series. Do you think there will be a "Knightfall" season 3?? I read that episode 8 was just the end of season 2, not the series end of the entire show.

I haven't read the books but I'm guessing Leofric just got killed off by Cornwell at the end of book 2 so the show just kept with that. I miss him too though.

You should react to HBO-s Chernobyl. It is very well done and it is only 5 episodes long. Top tier mini-series.Its a true story on the nuclear accident at Chernobyl! True horror story, cant recommend it enough!
