  • I had really crappy seats at the last two Cult shows. Not this time, MF!
    The Cult is:
    Ian Astbury: Vocals, tambourine
    Billy Duffy: Guitar
Charlie Jones (Robert Plant, Page and Plant, Grammy award winner): Bass
John Tempesta (Exodus, Testament, White Zombie): Drums
    Mike Mangan: Keys

These Guy's shoulda been the next massive ACDC with Billy tearing it to pieces ... Now they play Night Clubs & Indian Casino's when they could be headlining Glastonbury

Yeah, I agree. I'm wondering if Ian specifically chose to do the Indian casino tour so he could increase his knowledge for "cutural appropriation". Not that I give a rat's azz about that, or any other identity politics, but I always found his obsession with American Indians interesting. Last two times I saw them were in larger venues.

So much better for it. Seeing them up close and personal vs a massive souless stadium - as a fan I know that is prefer...

@@davebarnett4262 Yes, this was an amazing experience for everyone in the crowd. I just wonder if the band feels the same. Love that they did a Death Cult tour after this.

Rick Rubin wanted to make every band AC/DC, The Cult, Danzig, every band he signed up to produce. Thank goodness he didn't!
      No dis to AC/DC!

@@kristopherkrueger4617 Yes! Rick Rubin was really trying to AC/DC and/or L.A. the crap out of every band. I've always thought the same thing. The cool thing about The Cult is that they still sound good when they morph to different styles. I absolutely LOVE the Manor Sessions with Steve Brown, and I think even The Cult knew that those songs were cool, eventually releasing them. However, Electric ALSO rocked, and those songs have a special place in my heart as well. So fortunate to have both! Yes, I also love AC/DC!

Loved the Cult past tense , Ian needs a major overhaul I think the Cult is representative of a group that wasted golden opportunities multiple times thanks to Ian, sadly the Cult realized their potential long after their popularity had eroded and they now seem desperate to breathe life into a fire that's long dead but for the nostalgia. The Cult is like a chicken with it's head cut off the feet are still kicking but it's already dead RIP

Ian is getting pretty old. He had a giant book at his feet. There was a setlist as well, but the book may have been lyrics (for the new songs?). He changed the pages several times during the show. He also seemed irritated at times that I was filming him. Can you imagine wanting to be a rockstar, and then being irritated by exposure and attention? I'm not sure what was going on in his head, but the whole band seemed stiff, and not having a good time. I did think they sounded pretty decent, compared to shows from a decade or two ago, where they were just loaded all the time. Final note: Back in the day, The Cult should have stuck with producer Steve Brown. The music was really cool back then, and I prefer The Manor Sessions (now the Peace album) versions of Electric songs, over Rick Rubin's versions. That said, it's cool to have both versions, and even Rick's results were decent.

@@derrickmiller3562 Filming is something that came along after he got into it so it's understandable. For one, the audience is watching him through a phone which takes away from the live experience and then there is always the bad night that invites ridicule. Still, nice upload.

@@derrickmiller3562 I agree entirely regarding Steve Brown versus Rick Rubin. However, I must say that the latest LP "Under the Midnight Sun" blew me away. To my mind (and ears), it's easily the best thing since "Love". I would also add that the Death Cult show that I saw at Brixton Electric last year (featuring a guest appearance on two songs by Jamie Stewart) stands as one of the best gigs I've attended in well over thirty years.

@@derrickmiller3562 Thanks for your comment! The Death Cult concert was indeed amazing. I was in the front row, to the far left from the perspective of the audience. As such, although I wasn't exactly opposite Jamie, I ended up being nearer to him than any other member of the band.
