They would have to keep paying Ferrari for the engine, and they wanted it to be their own design. I can appreciate the engineering even if I don't absolutely love the sound.
@@flyingphoenix113 what? Maserati and Ferrari are owned by the same parent company. The engine in the mc20 is pretty much a beefed up Alfa Romeo quadrifoglio engine which itself is based on a Ferrari engine 😂😂😂
Personally, I love the low, bellowing sound. It reminds me a ton of the Lancia Stratos, and the design is beautiful. Plus 600+hp out of a tiny 3l V6 is witchcraft.
@@luigiwastaken, how much did the 2JZ make stock? Also, the 2JZ is substantially larger, more than 100lbs heavier, and has a higher center of gravity. This is an engine bred for circuit racing, not drag racing and dynos.
@@luigiwastaken what tiny little v6 from 30 years ago can hold 1500hp? Even the absolute best tuner motors today very rarely crack that on an unopened engine, only one I can think of is the R8/Lambo V10. Also a 2JZ isn't making anywhere near this power level while complying to modern fuel/emission regulations. There's a reason Toyota threw it in the trash & started using a Beamer engine instead.
That’s better and the exhaust tips are beautiful! But that car deserves the Cielo model and to scream so much more to make a proper super car statement! 😎
I like the fact that it’s the only modern supercar that’s not trying to kill you every time you drive it. But changing the exhaust makes it sound cheap
Nah, this has a nice low bellow to it. The Ford GT and Ecoboost F150 sound like a riced out 350Z with an aftermarket turbo kit. They have that awful V6 rasp that 60° V6s normally produce.
@@flyingphoenix113 i don't get to here many vq car by me but there's a ton of f150s . Always thought they sounded closer to 3800 Pontiac cars. These are oddfire V6s like the old GM engines that were used in Jeeps back in the day. They have a solid crank pin like a V8, so they fire in 90-150 degree intervals. I think the oddfire nature of it is what gives them that V8/UEL like rumble, since the exhaust on these should be equal in length.
@@DJ2226 It does have a unique growl to it, but I still prefer Audi's even-firing 90° V6 engines especially at higher rpm (kinda partial since that's what I drive haha)
If they were going to go with a V6 they could've at least made it sound good. Ferrari did an amazing job with the 296 V6 engine. Its a super car it should shout and sing.
The V6 is ok but for a supercar it isn't I mean a Nissan 3.7l sounds better than any Turbo V6 just add a high rev v6 with electric keep the theatre damn Let me put it this way would you drive the Ferrari Le man V6 or Alfa DTM V6
3L V6 with twin turbos is never going to sound good unless they make it high revving like the ford GT or F1 cars. If they could shove the hellcat engine (both owned by Stellantis) in to the MC20 maybe it would be a monster.
Because of emission & noise regulation. The F154 V8 sounds amazing with a Novitec, miles better than any German twin turbo v8. GT-R to my ears sounds like trash so I can’t really comment on that.

If I have to be honest, I don't like this car at all... What do you guys think of it? 🤔
I think it's sick!
Why is that NM? I like the look and performance however the sound sucks
Looks of the MC20 and engine of the MC12. They should have at least wen't with a high revving V8 for the MC20 imo
Também não gosto, sendo uma cópia da 296 eu iria escolher obviamente a 296
It‘s an Alfa from Maserati I think… like the Alfa 4C
I wish they kept a V8 platform on these things...

V6 is lighter and shorter, they managed to keep the weight lower, and honestly this engine sounds good.

good looking tractor
Power craft exhaust or kreisieg and this song amazing
