On day 3 we planned to reach Chitkul. We had our breakfast in Jhakri, a small village just after crossing Rampur. We could see many hydel power plants on this route. After crossing Jeori, soon we reached Kinnaur valley. We found a waterfall on our way, which was quite amazing, many travellers and tourists halted by the side of this waterfall to take a glance at it, so as we did.
On our way, we found many hydel power plants before we reach Tapri. And I had to fill my tank here, but the fuel station was closed that day. So we had our lunch in Tapri and then continued towards Karcham.
From Karcham we a took a diversion for Sangla. There is a huge dam built over Satluj at Karchham. We stood by side of this water reservoir for some photographs and then we crossed a bridge towards Sangla.
The valley starting from Karcham till Chitkul is known as Baspa valley named after the Baspa river. This valley is also sometimes called as Sangla Valley
Soon we reached Sangla and I found a Petrol pump there and fueled up the tank. Sangla is famous for Nages temple and Kamru Fort. The Sangla Valley is rich in apple orchards, apricot, Wall-nut, Cedar trees, and glacial streams with trout.
We then crossed a few more beautiful villages like Batseri, Rakchham on our way to Chitkul which is the last village on this road. Before we reached Chitkul we need to stop by a check post as to register our vehicle. Chitkul is a beautiful small village located right next to the Baspa river.

Nice video. Is it an all tarmac road upto Kalpa/Sangla or are there still some dirt track sections along the way? Any bad patches along the way.
It's all tramac towards Sangla. U'll find some rough patches towards Chitkul once you cross Rakcham.
Bhaiji, videos are a great work but the music in the background lowers the information you provide in between. Please look into this next time. Are you planning again for a spiti ride this time ?

Thank you Radha Negiji, for your invaluable feedback....in fact for last 15 years or so , I have been going to hills only in peak winter between November end to Jan end ....in Himachal Pradesh , only kinnour and lahaul & Spiti valley left out...anticipating blockade due to snow , we never tried to go to Kinnaur in Dec /Jan..I don't think , cold temperature will be a problem for me...provided during that period weather remains clear ( For which we don't have any control at all ) . Yes , I do agree , middle of October would have been best for me, but unfortunately I am nt in a position to make it...thank you very much. Regards , CA Bijay Agarwala , Guwahati Assam.
