Hello from Woodinville! Loved the update. Some of my veg looks similar to yours (beans, squash) but my cabbage and potatoes are just "hanging out", not struggling but not thriving either. Hoping the sunny days ahead will help there. Also, our basils could be twins. Thanks for covering them in the video because its encouraging to hear that it's probably temp-related. I don't have enough space to grow everything I want and I find it valuable to see what you're planting together and how far apart things are. Good luck with the blueberries! I inherited mine so can't take credit, but they're having a banner year. At least "somebody" likes a rainy June :)
I organic garden from seed in Zone 8b and out of all the videos I have watched on UA-cam, your garden is the only garden I can relate to!! Except for the peas, I just started a week ago. 😂 Everybody I've watched in zone 8b videos are already harvesting their groceries and I'm scratching my head like.. how? Watermelons?Red Bell Peppers? Gotta be box store starters, gmo's, grow houses or indoor starters. Thought I was doing something wrong!! 😂😂😂 great video.
I completely agree with this! I’ve felt my garden is behind because I was comparing to other gardening videos I watch. It’s so validating to see another PNW garden.
My garden is going pretty well all things considered. A lot of life things have been happening some frustrating, some triggering, and its been difficult to put enough attention into the garden. My chickens (building the coop and run) have been way more work than I had thought they’d be. Definitely would have been a good idea to wait on chickens and get something easier like cats. Really tricky to get the amount of compost I want. I got over zealous and tried to do too much too quickly in too small of a yard. I overplanted tomatoes and potatoes thinking I would give or sell some to neighbors but now I wish I had more space for other things. Potatoes look good. Tomatoes were in pots for a little too long. Its been an anxious spring and Im ready to be out of the suburbs.
I love Jujubes. I have two and they are easy to grow.. You can eat them at different stages. The initial stage is when they are hard crispy and juicy like an apple. They taste a little like an apple too. Or you can leave them on the tree and the insides become pillowy and light like a dry marshmallow and they are much sweeter then- like a date but not as dense or chewy. You can completely dehydrate them and freeze them and use them to make tea as well. They sell them in the frozen foods section in Asian markets
I should say I'm in zone 8 SC and Jujubes don't mind our incredibly hot summers. I'm not sure how they'd be in cooler weather - maybe they'd do even better.
Oh wow, now I am even more excited to grow them. I did read that they don’t have any pests in our area and are pretty drought tolerant. I need to get them out of their container and into the ground soon. Thank you for sharing, I really appreciate it. How big do they usually get? Are they more tree shaped or like a bush?
@@littlerootsranch They are tree shaped and grow quickly! I have been using tree branch separators so that their branches grow outwards rather then upwards and produce more fruit rather than grow too tall. My youngest, a Sugar Cane Jujube produced fruit last fall and it had only been in the ground since the winter and was planted as a bare root tree. Now it is about 5 feet tall. The older tree a few years older is now about 9 ft tall and would be taller if it weren't for my pruning. I think it is a Lang. Make sure they get plenty of Sun!
So happy I found your channel! I just moved from Austin, TX to the PNW and it could not be more opposite in terms of gardening climate. It's so strange what I'm able to grow and when. Thank you for the awesome tour and looking forward to more of your videos!
Oh yay and welcome to the PNW. Berries grow like crazy here and so many other things with our temperate summers and winters. I hope you love it here. ❤️
Wow, I'm just south of you, 2-3 hrs? My garden just now wanting to grow, slugs, moles have destroyed my plants from seed this year, had to resort to peppers from store, an couple tomato plants. peas are finished, I love the more ya pick the more ya get. Beautiful garden, you have to be so busy all the time 😊
Yellow rose of Texas 😂! Hello again. Jk I love purple too.! My bday is in February so amethyst is my birthstone. I also feel purple is good with summer or fall arrangements so very versatile!
It's fun getting a tour! My potatoes look great too. Winter squash has me worried because theyre so small but I see yours are the same. The cold weather has slowed everything down. I plant flowers in my garden too... it brings me joy and makes my bees happy too.
Thanks for the tour! Love to see all the different things you’re growing! I live near Bellingham so watching your videos has been helpful. When I moved my tomatoes and peppers outside initially, I put a cover over them for a while which helped during that wet cold spell and then later removed it to put up my trellis and stakes. The tomatoes are growing and doing well so far but my peppers are just sitting there. Probably not liking all the cold! My peas are abundant too, of course they are loving the cooler weather! LOL Always happy to see a new video from you! I really enjoy your channel!
Hello from Lake Stevens! Thank you so much for your updates, my partner & I are gardening for the first time and we’re learning a ton from you! This area is a bit fickle to garden in so it’s massively helpful to see how you’re doing it. Your sweet peas looks great, when did you start them? I started mine at the end of april and they’re still just 6-8in with no blooms. They’re from the “Old Spice” mix. Cheers!
My greenhouse got away from me (weeds) so it is out of commission this year while I get it back- but I am sure missing it with this cooler summer. Thank you for watching.
Love your garden tours!! 🩷 Especially seeing where everything is at with the weird weather. How do you keep your strawberries from taking over the beds? I've been trying to stay on top of the runners but they get out of control! I finally gave up and let them go wild 😅
I so appreciate seeing where you are. I'm down in Portland, OR and my tomatoes and peppers are just a bit ahead of yours. Seeing you dont have huge ones right now unlike the other gardening channels makes me feel better. I know different growing areas... but you always worry.
How to keep the rabbits away??? I had about 12 producing snap pea plants and one by one the rabbits ate them. Then one day I came out to find 18 out of 25 of my corn sprouts gone, they were only a few inches tall. They have decimated my marigolds and the ladybugs left. I am allergic to rabbits so a catch and release solution is not an option for me.
What I have found to work, in the most ethical control is to grow a garden for them if space allows. Each summer I plant an obscene amount of carrots that I leave in the ground and they get all fat. In the spring, I pull them out and throw them in the brush that lines my property. I presume the bunnies eat them because I don’t have the problems I used to have before then. Then, once my clover comes in (in the grass) the bunnies abandon the garden all together. I think they like clover more than anything and my grass is heavy with clover.
Hi Christi! Do you have any ability or interest in fostering / adopting a rooster? His name is Rustee and hes very handsome, bit of a talker, I pick him up alot and hes used to getting hugged. I love him but roosters aren’t allowed in Shoreline. I would love to be able to move to somewhere larger that allows for roosters maybe within the next year. Not out of the realm of possibility.
Thank you. The cattle panels came from Tractor supply. Any farm store should have them. I have had these for many years and I just keep repurposing them.
Cucumbers are looking awful this year again. I have started them a few times. The only ones that are looking good is the silver slicer in my greenstalk.

Scarlet runners? Hello from Wickersham!
Yesssssssssssssss!!! I couldn’t remember that for the life of me. Lol.

Do you grow comfrey?
Where did you buy the lemon grass?
From Christiansens in Mount Vernon in the back left greenhouse.
@@littlerootsranch Thank you!!!! 😁 I will be going to get one .
Is it too late to start basil by seed?
No, not at all. It grows really fast and this cold weather isn’t doing anything for ones already planted. Lol.
