I would not suggest to use ARFouncation/ARCore/ARKit SDKs alone for indoor navigation, if the tracking will be lost during the walk - game over.

How did you get indoor navigation working with ArCore ?
I've been using it with Tango ( using area learning ) , but not sure how it can be achieved with ArCore ( which doesn't have area learning as far as I'm aware ).

Would be interesting to know how to find a decent fix for location and orientation without using images or markers.

I think to do this, first make some strong features of your maps to navigate in advance. and next if you find some features of your map, you could revise the R|t from arcore's relative positional information with R|t matrix with your acquisition from features
