Yeah back then in the 80’s and the 90’s in hip hop you used to have to send demos to the record labels or fly out to wherever they are at and show them your raw talent now you got the internet which can get you noticed more quicker

That's why their talent levels back then were so much higher than today's artists. You had to be good and actually leave your house and travel to make it. By the time you get signed you're already a pro

Respect. This why Bone deserves all the awards, millions, fans etc. they got because they really went after it. But their talent is what made them legends. With social media and different platforms now, new artists can push their products hard there, but if the talent ain’t there, might have to switch it up. If you got a dream and drive, you can level yourself up!

Wow, that clip of Tone Loc. I haven't seen him in so long. I'm very glad that we still have him. I mean, it's nice to know that they addressed it together many years later. And it's also nice to see that Layzie understands now that he's a legend himself. That shit made me genuinely feel bad though when he described himself and the rest of the group as "hungry little kids". That's exactly what they were. But look, their struggle paid off.
I have a strong appreciation here for the WAY that Layzie told this story. I think a lot of artists would take the defensive, or embellish it. But Lay did that shit with such humility- it was a humbling experience he had as a younger man, and they persevered. I am very grateful that they did because Bone Thugs n Harmony is a very big part of my life and music throughout my life. Their music is associated with the very few happy memories I have as a kid which turn out to be just the time I got to spend with my brothers.

Love Tone. Will never deny he’s a legend. But that this point, and I say this with as much respect as I can, he’s in the golden years of his visibility and career. He’s not exactly “on” anymore. So what was Bone going to do? Start the next East/west beef over it? 😂 I’m sure they were like “meh, we made it, who cares”.

@@wraithyoshidj6702 well, like I said. Who knows? I guess my point is that it’s over and so far in the past, that who cares? Is Tone Loc going to go viral over it? What percentage of today’s audience do you even think KNOWS who Tone Loc is?
The members of Bone Thugs are in their 50s now lol. Should they have taken it as disrespect? And if so, was this going to go to Verzuz? Beef on records? Beef on the streets. Just old samurais telling stories man. That’s it. Nothing more. You can’t look into everything that deep. We can have this conversation if we’re talking about whatever young guys are out now that DEPEND on this kind of publicity. But something tells me that it’s just not that serious. One time as a kid, I got yelled at by an old neighbor in my parent’s neighborhood. She still lives there. God has given her a nice long life. ATTENTION!!!! Thank God Tone Loc didn’t sign Bone lol 😂, wouldn’t be a Bone Thugs !! Their look and style and DJ UNEEK beats??? They would of been No Hit Wonders for real, perfect example, (DO OR DIE ) under Twista’s independent distribution way before the Jamie Fox, Kanye West collab, yes Do or Die was known in the Midwest in the mid 90’s but never ever touched a LA Radio during those years , neither did Twista until 2003, Tone loc was never a certified rapper with a real music deal , he only had a Distribution Deal meaning , (1-2) Hits with a follow up (EP) or those hits went strictly on a soundtrack!! Prime example, Kid Frost was with EAzy E also but guess what ?? Eazy signed him only to a Distribution Deal not long term, that’s what he mentions in that interview about receiving (500k with a Cadillac) , Tone Loc was in one of those deals lol 😂, Wild Thing easily made 10 Million even more , it was a crossover hit but he probably only got paid 800k for it and a lifetime 2k dollar monthly royalty check 😂, lol , Bone should be thanking the Almighty each and every day about the avoided failed Slave contract that Tone Loc didn’t sign them too lol 😂, blessings in great disguises

Selling dope, shooting each other , one way ticket looking for a record deal, hit it big with a unheard of style that would change the game 20 years later cause they were so ahead of the time, inner turmoil. Making huts with eazy, pac, biggie, pun, Mariah, Phil Collins, Sade. Come TF on. Where is the mini series biopic??
