great modular system zed i have 3 paksell bags 1 for my clothes 1 for shelter kit [ pegs ,tarp, ridgline ] and 1 for my food but looking at this system i think is better because your utilizing maximum space so dave will be getting a few orders off me in the near future thanks for sharing love the channel
Hi friend, sincerely appreciate the kind words and also insightful hearing how you pack your gear ~Peace~
Thanks for showing us how to put it all back into the pack! Always easier to unpack than to pack! Nice video.
This is the most satisfying thing I've watched in a while. I've been keeping and eye on David's system for a while now.
Honestly Davids work is some of the best out there, i've incorporated a lot his pouches into my own set up and it's transformed the way I pack my gear ~Peace~
David work is amazing very good person Alot of heart go's in to he's work
Amen to that Carl and he's someone who tests out everythig he makes before bringing it to market ~Peace~
Just bought this bag, but with the rocket pouches. I think having seperate pouches, whether that be like the ones you have or I have are essential to make your bag work. I previously had a 65l bag but just with normal side pockets and that really impacts on the main compartment of the bag causing you to have much less room to put things. This bag is an impressive solid piece of kit tbf.
I have the 45l with side pouches too and indeed it's an awesome pack! ~Peace~
Zed quit reading my mind! I seriously have been looking at this pack all week. Most of your recent videos have been on point for the information I have needed. Thanks for the great content!
My man Josh how goes it, sincerely appreciate your kind words dude and this pack is awesome,. I have the version in brown and have incorporated a lot of Davids pouch system into my own set up whcih has transformed the way I pack my gear. Do let us know if you decide to pull the trigger on this bad boy! ~Peace~
@@Zedoutdoors It goes well. Thanks for bring David on. I have been looking at his pouches to help me out.
Tnx for sharing my friend... looks like you two had an awesome day ;)
I always enjoy watching videos like this lets you see how and what people take on there adventures thanks for sharing atvb Jimmy 😎😎
I couldn't agree more Jimmy and i'm the same as you when it comes to videos like this! ~Peace~
I purchased one of David’s pouches last month and it is very well made. More purchases to follow from me.
I’ve been toying whether to get those Karrimor side pouches on his SF for my Predator 45. Like you, Zed, I have 15lt PLCE Bergen ones.
Thanks for sharing this chaps 😉👍🏼
Like yourself i've been eying those side pouches up too and after filming this video with Dave i'm most likely gonna pull the trigger on them. Appreciate you watching and for your kind words dude thank you ~Peace~
Zed Outdoors I’m terrible for accumulating tools for work and it’s rubbing off onto my BC life too, Zed 😁
It would be rude not to buy and try wouldn’t it 😊
Look after yourself pal 😉👍🏼
Tim
Hey Zed,,, I’ve done a lot of backpacking on and around the Appalachian trail(from the age 15-45 years old),, 61 now. My first thought was,,, how much did his pack weight,,??? Joshua
Hi Josh this pack is not designed for long distance hiking, it's for day to day Bushcraft activities ~Peace~
Informative and handy there man. Just ordered the sabre and cant wait to get out with it . Nice one 👍Peace 👌
Oh nice, hope you enjoy your new pack and many thanks for watching ~Peace~
Great video zed, like you I've been very impressed with David's pouch systems, can't wait for mine to come. May need a few more too.
Thats awesome to hear John and I say it with complete sincerity that you won't be dissapointed. I've now incorporated a lot of Davids pouch system into my own set up and it's transformed the way I pack my gear now. Do let us know how you get on with incorporating his pouches into your system ~Peace~
When is Zed visits MCQ with this bag in Sweden Bushcraft video? 😂😂😂. D🤙🇺🇸😎
Hope to visit MCQ in Sweden when circumstances permit, he's invited me over but alas it's finding the time! ~Peace~
Thanks for the video. I own the Karrimor SF 45 but I have the two large side pouches. I really like those side pouches for better organization. Sorry if I missed it, but what specifically are those side pouches you have there in the video? I went out to your Etsy store and did not see them but I saw some of those lovely hand bags that could go into those pouches.
Thoe modular side pouches are made by Karrimor and David makes the smaller pouches custom to fit inside them. Indeed they are very cool and i'll be adding them to my Karrimor too ~Peace~
this is impressive, an excellent backpack, a good set of tools and equipment, with this you can safely go to the forest for a week, or even a month) Zed, thanks)
Amen to that Andrew and the great thing with David is that he actually uses all this gear so it is tried and tested. Stay well my friend and many thanks for watching ~Peace~
I have found over years of experience using all types of military pack and bergans is to have the right size pack in the first place with out all the extra pouches . All these pouches add up in weight which is OK if your a car camper but if you like proper adventures and like to get to places which require a good hike . This is not about being a super lightweight camper but its about enjoying your experience. I used to be the same and have pouches for this and poches for that , kits for my seasoning , brew kits fire kits with everything . It got to the point of being ridiculous and the weight was shocking . I know use the right back pack with out all the clunky extra add ons pouches and unessary pointless gear eg having 100 different ways light a fire , fire kit 🤣. My experience of camping has now changed and my adventures have grown from strength to strength .
Yep. After a few wild camps involving a trek, the SF now get left at home. I went through a period of buying various SF pouches for ‘this and that’, but the weight just got silly. The good thing that comes from all this is that you eventually learn to unzip all the ads ons and pack lighter.....
As with everything there's no right or wrong or one size fits all. Everyone has their own needs as well as preferences. What works for you doesn't necessarily work for me, and vice versa ~Peace~
Fantastic video. Thanks. Do you have a link for the Karrimor side pouches?
Thank you kindly, there are tons of retailers for the Karrimor side pouches so all depends on where you are based ~Peace~
I just got the Karrimor SF Sabre and it instantly became my new favorite backpacking bag. I did want to know more about the side pouches shown. Is this the SF Predator side pockets being used on the Sabre?
Hi Andrew, indeed yes he's using the predator side pockets on the sabre, something i'm going to be doing myself as well ~Peace~
Was looking for a canvas mat. That one looks great.
Indeed David is about to make some more of those as even i'm eager to get one, they really are amazing and extremely tough material ~Peace~
Nice vid....weight of pack with all gear?
Hi Andy, many thanks and alas I don't remember the exact weight but it wasn't much, even though it seems like the pouches make it heavy which they don't ~Peace~
good video - what is max load for comfort on this Sabre 45?
Thank you kindly Gregory, weight wise there's no set weight that is comfortable to hold. Everyones physique is different, saying that this can hold a lot of kit! ~Peace~
Really like his pack system.. I've been looking for something like this... also trying to decide on what size Sabre, 45 or the 60-100... but my system is a mess. All different brands and sizes, from Osprey, Snugpak, and eberlestock.
The 45 is suffice in most cases unless you're packing lots of extra kit, yeh sorting ones kit is a long but worthwhile process! ~Peace~
Oh thats how you bring your axe with a bag. Nice
Indeed yes thats a very cool feature with this pack in particular, and it's a longer axe then you can tuck it under the lid of the pack ~Peace~
Cannot take away from David the fact he does make good pouches, but, packing a rucksack, any rucksack, is not a science it's a personal preference. That Karrimoor is the first bergen I've seen that has a neck narrower than the body, strange concept, those side pouch setups have been out for year's mate, where have you been. All the best Zed. Paul.
Those side pouches were new to me hence when Dave posted a picture of it I was really intrigued. The karrimor definitely has inetersting shape to it but I like it because essentially it's a simple design but with real quality in mind. Hope all is good on your end Paul what with this zombie apocalypse going on ~Peace~
@@Zedoutdoors Yep fare shout Zed and all is good in the hood mate thank you, hope your well and all the very best to you.
Auscam "tarp". We call it a hootchie. I not got one lol. Mine is 35 yr old n khaki. It is about 2.4 x 1.2m.
Designed to be used alone or as a buddy system. Press studs on it so you can clip 2 together to make a larger A frame. Or 3 or 4 or more get enough tou can make anything
Oh nice I appreciate the heads up on that! I learn something new everyday ~Peace~
what size is the spare clothes pouch please David at 15.30 in time line
Hi Paul, all the details regarding that pouch are on this page - www.etsy.com/uk/listing/739302771/large-box-pouch
Where do you get the side pouches from
They are readily available online, do a search for 'Karrimor SF Predator Side Pocket Olive' ~Peace~
This is a great setup, was eyeing up a sabre for a while. Cheers for sharing Zed. I’ve acc just uploaded an external frame system on my channel (as promised) which you might be interested in!
Bodhi
Nice going i'll be sure to check that out, yeh the Sabres a solid pack and you can get a lot in it when packed right ~Peace~
Tjm metal works site is down anyone have any simillar?
Hi Jay his site is working perfectly fine, here's the link - www.etsy.com/uk/shop/TJMMetalworks
Hola, buenas noches...
Great vid, but don't understand this UK pouch/organizing fetish. The guy is carrying the weight of a extra backpack in pouches.
Appeciate you watching Jay, reg weight the pouches weigh very little to the extent the combined weight is neglible ~Peace~
If carrying a folding bucksaw...I would leave the large hatchet at home.....save on weight. I can do better crosscutting with the bucksaw and prefer to carry a large-bladed knife.
You can find out more about the pouches here - www.etsy.com/uk/shop/DavidFriarsShop
Any chance you also got a link (or at least the name) of that backpack ?
cooperation?
I’m following him on Etsy now, thanks to you! When my budget allows, I’ll be purchasing several! Thanks Zed.
