    It looks like you had an amazing time at the Mytholmroyd fell race in West Yorkshire. The snowy landscape and friendly people made it a lucky and memorable day. Thanks for sharing this adventure with us, dear Olga! 👍

    I think it is very cool how everyone wears their club shirts. That is a cool running culture. It was no snow then a lot of snow. I felt cold watching them. It was very beautiful area in the snow.

      Thank you, Richard. People are proud to wear the vests to represent their running clubs. Not everyone belongs to a running club though, fell races are normally open to everyone. I love snow!

    Enjoyed watching this in wintry conditions - such a marked transition as you climbed out of the valley to the snowy tops. It was a late June/early July event in the 90s, starting on a sports field near the canal. The Community Centre is a great facility, it wasn't built when I ran this race, but I've done bike races which use it. Well done for capturing the race at different points and from different perspectives.

      Hi Gordon. I was thinking about you when I went to Mytholmroyd remembering or cycling stops there. Yes, a community centre is definitely a good addition to the place.

    Very christmassy looking race, I did a road race in Blackburn and that was slippy enough, well done for finishing 😀👍

      @OlgasBritishFells  Рік тому

      Well done on your Blackburn 10 k. (Remind me what your name is, please.) I think sometimes it's more slippery on the road. The snow was crunchy and it was ok in fell shoes, they are quite grippy.

    Not ideal conditions olga. Really enjoyed this one bit different due to the conditions thank you for uploading the video

      The snow wasn't very slippery so it felt great running on it. Love it how it makes everything look so white and pure. Thank you for your support, Martin.

      The conditions were actually really decent underfoot, nice compact hard snow made for some decent running. My feet didn't even get wet until a couple of bogs that revealed themselves just before the last descent

      @@pontericky3506true, made it even better underfoot with this snow.

      It was around 0°C or a bit higher that day, not cold. The day before that was colder.

      Нет, не скользко особо. В наших ботах нормально. И снег был не скользкий. А Вова был с друзьями.

    Just pressed the wrong thumb sorry will have given you a thumbs down. wanted to say have never done Stoop but did Withins Skyline from Pennistone country park in October and have done Stanbury Splash a couple of times. I looked at stioop but John McDonald from Trwaden told me about a New race they have on the 17th Wycoller Wander. I am doing Parkrun and Hurst Green Turkey Trot saturday 16th and probably Wycoller on Sunday. We are at my daughters for Xmas in the South but a good Boxing day race in Rossendale is Whinnbery Naze Dash fancy dress and a tube of smarties at the top. on your trip to Mytholmroyd you must have been directed to the Long Causway and through Heptonstall because it is the shortest route and actually the way I went. There is a race over the moors up there on 20th Jan called Hoofstones and Stanbury Splash from Pennistone country park on Saturday 14th. Good running whichever you decide on

      Oh, thank you Neil for all this information. So many different races! I hope you enjoy your races. I did Hoofstones before, it's a good race. Have a good time with your daughter for Christmas.

    Here is a silly question for your viewers. You are too young to know the answer. Who or what was muragatroyd.

    • @OlgasBritishFells
      @OlgasBritishFells  Рік тому

      I was trying to Google it but all that it comes up with is a cartoon and a fish and chips shop.

      @@OlgasBritishFells a children's TV show from the 70s called magpie. At the start they ran a competition to name the bird and a young girl in Wales win it with muragatroyd. Im guessing it was a Welsh saints name. Even though in Ireland we were fortunate along the east coast to pick up british TV channels, well 2 anyway. Some really great shows at that time. How long have you been in your adopted country.

      @@OlgasBritishFells well you are very easily understood. I'm always amazed how we in Ireland don't get the extremes of weather that parts of gb get. You did mention of course that Preston did not get a lot of snow either. Explains how tough them fell runners are.

    • @OlgasBritishFells
      @OlgasBritishFells  Рік тому

      @@wideawake914 Preston is a bit flat, that's why we don't get snow, but only about 15 minutes East on a motorway from Preston, hilly areas start and they get snow there. It's so odd, so close and the climate is already different. As per your lovely Ireland, maybe you have warmer streams around the island that keep the weather mild? I don't know, what do you think?
