If an oath of glory paladin is grating in their arrogance, then just point out that they are not Heracles or Achilles. They are Jason, and Jason died when he didn't have his group to watch his back.
At first glance I didn’t like the Paladins aura change from initiative to walking speed, but then I started looking at this features interactions with the spells and features that this paladin has. The speed boost would work on the mount you choose with find steed spell. Then also that the haste spell on this Paladins domain list. It would also affect the mount if the paladin was on the creature and the paladin targeted itself with haste due to find steeds spell description. A war horse in the aura and hasted would be able have a move speed of 140ft. The war horse would also be able to utilize its action and additional hasted action to dash, potentially 420ft in one turn. The features synergize well and make possibly the most mobile subclass in the game. There’s also the fact that once you get into combat, the hasted paladin and hasted warhorse could team up. Paladin could dismount after casting and the warhorse and the paladin could throw down vs a creature with their extra attacks. Works well with a rhino too.
The oath of heroism was actually so much fun to play as a paladin that was self absorbed in their own heroic journey to the point of denying their own mistakes and ignoring inconveniences
I still, getting away from musical bards, want to see an actor bard. Whether that would be thespian, pantomime, improvisation, or even something potentially silly like puppetry, maybe from an Asian setting. You could then flavor them based on Noh, traditional shadow puppets, or water puppets.

Oath of Glory could also be construed as an "anti-hero". If you create a warrior that only cares about personal glory w/out worry of offending anyone, that has the potential for a character to become a D&D version of Deadpool. You're not a hero, but you're not a villain. You just enjoy killing shit because you can. There's so much roleplay versatility here!
What if you were to play the Oath of Glory almost as the traditional bard trope? Yes, they know they themselves are destined for glory. But they visualize their glory as part of the group. They know that as a group they are meant to sunder titans and wrestle world enders. That paladin could be the party hype man, liaison in political situations, and battle rally tank. Don't get me wrong, I think this character could easily be the party prick. But I also think this could be the "heart" player of a party.
You can use the pole arm master and sentinel feats to get most of the way there. The problem with polearms is that they require two hands, so get an animated shield? Really you have to work with your DM to get the flavor you want.
Pedro F I know there are options, but a spear with actual reach would be cool. At least if you’re trying to make a spartan. Pikes and the rest are two-handed. Regular Spears are mostly just bad swords in 5e.
I've always wanted to play an oath of justice paladin, I even made a paladin/bard multiclassed character that revolved around that concept before oath of heroism or glory were a thing. The character was not a copy but was strongly inspired by Amelia in Slayers. So, I was disappointed when they shifted away from oath of heroism since it was close to oath of justice. Oh well.
They changed the bass on the sound of the gun. They made it sound stronger and it made it feel better by doing so despite not changing any of the stats of the weapon.
(disclaimer! new to dnd) i've got a question, but it's not about this. it's about the Redeem a Key feature over on the dndbeyond website. let's say i buy the player's handbook irl. would this have a Redeem a Key code inside of it, or do i need to buy a digital copy to have that?
certain box sets have included codes before like the essentials kit box oincludes a code to get the difital copy for free and digital phb for 50% off. Theros book has a discounted digital version as a preorder bonus code for getting the physical book. Unfortunatly unless the put exta packaging on the books (which has a bunch of environmental isssues attached) they cannot really include a code on the standard books. (also there is an issue of if they did it now with the phb it would be unfari on everyone who currently brought it)
'using divine power' from who or where does the divine power come? Godless Paladin's cannot access Divine Power unless there is some mindless vestibule for Divine Energy, and if so, how does a godless Paladin access it and why then can't someone of more potential have seized control of it to become a full god? Godless Paladin's don't exist.
what changed to the oath of glory ? other than being bad ? yeah thats what changed :D :D :D really one of the most disappointing changes yet to happened.
It kind of sad that the League of Legends Runeterra crossover sub-classes are better than the ones in the Theros book. And why is the Leonin so much worse than the Tabaxi?
@@finderfinder4290 The Rogue and the Fighter in Runeterra are very flavorful and cohesive, they could easily be retooled for other settings without losing any of their flavor, which is what I personally love the most in a subclass. The Barbarian is way more limited, because it is 100% dependant on being around large bodies of water. So yes, they are all very cohesive and flavorful, but the Barbarian is very specific to it's setting, where are the Rogue and Fighter have a more adaptable flavor, but they are also all very powerful subclasses.
The Leonin are so close to being good, but they dropped the ball in so many little ways that the whole race suffers for it. All they had to do was take the Tabaxi base and make it Str instead of Dex, but they tried to hard to make them different that it feels like they cut too much out of the Leonin to compensate. I hope they do some errata to fix it later, or some folks on DM's Guild will probably do their own fixes for the Leonin? That'd be cool.
@@Hey-Its-Dingo Id rather have race that is different but worse than just have a different ability score change. At that point, it's just a variant tabaxi
I have to agree, League of Legends Runeterra class are more interesting. I had someone switch to path of the Deep Barbarian and it is so flavor full and fun, we did have to Nerf the level 6 ability though as it was way to strong but now feels really good. None of the classes from the Theros book make me want to play them and don't get me pumped like Runeterra.

Jason is probably the "hero" in greek mythology I hate the most, and what you noted is kind of part of the reason.

Bruh imagine using a griffin xO
Fuck, I didn't even consider that, nice catch
larkin gatt
I believe the aura is specifically a walking speed boost, but haste still works.
Ah rip, but hey it's still cool
Wow, that is almost 16 mph! That hasted pony could just about catch Usain Bolt.
Wish they had more subclasses, though I like the ones included.
The oath of heroism was actually so much fun to play as a paladin that was self absorbed in their own heroic journey to the point of denying their own mistakes and ignoring inconveniences
Basically 80% of Greek Heroes.
That's cool. Mine is a good 'ol boy country kid who just happens to always be there for his allies. Just a wholesome kid

I desperately want a College of Mime Bard so that I can play D&D like a game of Charades
I played an Orator Bard, inspirational speeches, allegorical stories, poems, and parables.

Can we finally make a hoplite style spear + shield fighter??
nothing is stopping you from using spear+shield

Probably just what the "gun" looked like.
I know about game design and didn't get either. No idea of what "base" meant in this case, probably just the visuals on the piece
