I don’t consider myself a true collector of LEGO Star Wars but I do have a room full of sets. I liked this set as a play set and I do think it isn’t very display able but is still like it. I’m not one of those people who hat on others opinions and I really liked your criticisms
The real question is why they have downgraded the snow troopers in the 2019/2020 sets. (They don’t have the backpack and the skirt thing they used to have around their legs)
This set will always have a special place in my heart. It was one of the first sets that grabbed my attention and got me into Lego Star Wars. I saved for MONTHS for this baby. I agree it’s probably not UCS, but this is a damn good Lego Star Wars set and no one can convince me otherwise. As a kid, I absolutely loved it and that’s how I know the playability worked.

@@killachicken7577 It's a way weirder take to say that an entire set is bad just because of the title. Does the title change the piece count, the minifigures, or the build? The box art clearly shows all of the contents of the set, so you know everything you're getting just by looking slightly to the right. I rarely even look at the set's name when I buy them, I buy the set for it's contents. It's just fans being petty. ☠️
Love this kind of documentary style/lego history type of video, as it is super professional and high quality in my opinion, super entertaining as well, and I am very much looking forward for more to come in the future!!!!

This was the first Echo Base-style set from LEGO that I _didn't_ buy, and for precisely the reason that Ryan gives: it felt like a compilation of several previous sets. But I really wish LEGO would release a separate, movie-accurate shield generator set. I'd buy that in a heartbeat.
This set is actually really good in my opinion. People keep judging it way too harshly just because it's labelled as a ucs set and it's name. The builds i actually quite like and when you have it all spread out on a table you get a damn lot for your money.
Imo, UCS sets should be vehicles only because you can’t make a structure Minifig scale, but you can do that for vehicles. UCS should be for vehicles. Master builder should be for structures/buildings (could city, echo base, Death Star).
Unfortunately, because of the bad circumstances of this set's release, we may not get more of this type of set, like a Master Builder Series Endor. I'm not a big playset person(more display), but I love the Cloud City and this, and I would die for an Endor one
LEGO even kept the unnecessary look out tower from the UCS Assault on Hoth to even the Action Battle set Assault on Echo Base! The Look out tower is even in the exact same spot!
Your videos are getting better and better in style, Ryan. I enjoyed this but think you have misty taken previous content and made it look better... the exception being the information about it being delayed. Would LOVE to see more of this kind of stuff..:maybe on exactly what you criticise about the Hoth sets, collections of smaller sets that go well together. Or more in depth reviews of UCS sets, including new info on the context of their releases... Very “slick” video to watch, mate.
Nothing to do with the video but important: we could be getting a new lego gun part/skin for the medium rifle blaster for lego star wars, if you look at the first order part in the lego the complete saga trailer you can see a first order stormtrooper holding a blaster rifle with a black and white gun for the first order it will be cool to see this and I think this could become an actual thing soon because almost everything in the lego games are actual lego sets.
LEGO should start making Starwars sets that could be smaller sets that when combined would make a larger battle. Ex. Have a small tree with a Ewok and scout trooper and then have more small sets for Endor. I would like this more than the one off sets they’ve been doing
It's time for a Master Builder redo of this set. The AT-AT is out, and the AT-ST is here as well, I really do believe the upcoming large cost set is going to be a MB version with a lot of the flaws fixed and renamed simply 'Defense on Hoth'. If you pair this set with the original Echo base on Hoth and the Bacta tank set, it's fantastic with at least one AT-AT and a squad of Snowtroopers.

@@Rand0mN0rwegianGuy agreed! And it probably wouldn't be that hard to get the parts needed to add one more nodule to the shield generator. I would not be surprised if someone has already adapted that section of the set to be more accurate to the film in that regard.
With an atat coming out later this year it would be a good idea for Lego to re release this not call it a ucs set but an mbs. Fix the Wampa cave, the ion cannon, the generator and throw in a few snow troopers. Possibly add a slightly smaller atst to work with the scale of the atat. I reckon it would sell pretty well

The ONLY reason I bought this set was because it included my absolute favorite Rebel pilot, Wedge Antilles. Only to see the exact same Wedge figure released in 75268 for waaaaaay cheaper.
In those clips of the designers talking about the set I felt really bad since they sounded so sad that the set they made was hated so much. I also think the set is not good but still it’s just sad
All they needed to do was ad about 5 or 6 snow troopers, one or two more imperial snow speeders,a tie fighter (with a pilot) to go with the Rebel snow speeder ,And I wish it had another ton ton because I love the mold And all the stuff he said

Most UCS sets are pointless because they really don’t go along with any other non-UCS sets. The only good UCS sets are this set, the Ewok Village, cloud City, the Death Star and if you count it, the Tantive-IV. But I respect your opinion about this set.
The point of UCS sets is to be display models for adult collectors. It’s fine to not be into that, I’m not really into that, but saying that this is the best one because it goes with regular sets just makes it sound like you’re not into UCS sets as a concept, because if you’re judging it by the interests of UCS buyers this is pretty indisputably the worst one

Another couple of notes of why the set was hated: 1. The inclusion of the Tauntaun feeding pen and lookout tower, and not a medical bay or larger command centre. 2. The minifigure selection. Leia, Chewbacca and General Rieekan were notable exclusions. 3. Regarding the lookout tower, the justification for its inclusion was that it was assumed 'every' base had one. A fair assumption, but Echo Base already had some; the Trenches! Just shows that designers seemingly don't know a lot about Star Wars.

I like this video a lot. Do u think it is possible u could do a video of the 2016 UCS Death Star? I know a lot of people were upset about considering after how long the 2008 version was on shelves. Also, could u also do a video on the 2018 imperial landing craft vs the 2007 version? Like how Lego tarnished the troop carrying compartment and only gave 2 sand troopers in the 2018 when it was meant to be an army builder set?
The most likely reason that we have a Master Builders Series is due to the backlash over Assault on Hoth being referred to as a UCS. As far as the name goes, who cares? A name is a name. My eyes can still see what I’m getting regardless of what it’s called. I bought it. I got a Tauntaun, a Wampa, a second snowspeeder, a bunch of rebel Hoth troopers, and the whole door set-upworked out for a MOC. Sure it may have been mislabeled but that’s hardly solid ground to trash something.

By calling it UCS, Lego’s saying that this set is meant for people who buy Lego display pieces, when in reality the set has very little display value and would mainly appeal to kids who wanna use it as a toy. The only thing I really like for this set is the door entrance the rest of the set is plagued with too many playability features which take away from the design.

Mandr, I know this doesent really have to do with this video but I have a set idea. 501st vs 212th on umbara from the clone wars umbara arc. The set would include waxer and 2 troopers on their side and captain rex with 2 troopers on his side. I imagine their would also be some foliage for the troopers to hide behind and that weird sarlac looking thing. With lego's pricing nowadays I acpect the set to cost around 40 dollars usd. Hope you read this love your channel

The Rebel Ion Cannon is one of my favorite scenes in all of Star Wars. I would love to see it done greater justice with a larger, more accurate build.

Mandr, I know this doesent really have to do with this video but I have a set idea. 501st vs 212th on umbara from the clone wars umbara arc.
The set would include waxer and 2 troopers on their side and captain rex with 2 troopers on his side. I imagine their would also be some foliage for the troopers to hide behind and that weird sarlac looking thing. With lego's pricing nowadays I acpect the set to cost around 40 dollars usd. Hope you read this love your channel

When it was out I always wanted it because I loved the hoth battle but it’s incomplete, and there’s no at at. If you’re gonna make a play set include the people leading the assault.

Not really. The people complaining were never gonna buy this set because it wasn’t meant for them, it was meant for kids, this issue is Lego marketed it to them despite it not being meant for them
Maybe make a video about the action battle sets that released last year, and why you think they flopped. Since we haven't seen them again this year, then they must not have sold too well, (and they also went on sale on LEGO.com in Denmark, don't know about the rest of the world)
