Considering a chunky sumo guy is considered an assassin that went after John and needed two-three headshots to take down... wouldn't say no. :P The Continental's reach seems to be far and wiiide.

I remember Keanu talking about how they warned him not to make direct eye contact with the dogs on the set.... That or not to break eye contact, I can't remember which it was (I'd have been eaten by now) Anyway, i remember thinking how absolutely insane that story was, while also being the most badass story i'd ever heard.

Not worth it, I'll try some other exotic food instead. It's one thing to, you know, try bungee jumping or cliff diving - this is just hoping you don't eat poison due to a pro making that one time mistake in his entire career just happens to be on the day I try it.

On the fear of being kicked by a horse: completely valid. I worked at a few stables, I was never kicked, but I have had my foot stepped on more than once, and that, frankly, was more than enough. I've seen stall doors kicked off, 2-inch wooden planks kicked through, if a horse catches you in the head or chest with a full strength kick it's over. They are tremendously powerful animals, who are scared, quite literally, of their own shadows. That said, a calm approach and making yourself known to the animals helps a lot.

You mentioned Halle's training being evident. It should be she trained with the same people that trained Keanu how to be John Wick. Also, she spent 3 months training with those dogs (it took 5 of them to composite together all the scenes for the two we see on screen). And it becomes readily apparent that she has the dog's attention, and loyalty. It's a subtle thing, but in most movies dogs tend to look off camera for their cues from handlers on what they're supposed to be doing. But that scene at the back of the car you can see the dogs looking at *her*, and not off camera. All that training paid off. It shows on camera, and it blows away all other dog action I've seen on film.

Glad you grasp the fact that there are sub-groups under the High Table that have their own rules and codes to which they must adhere, even if they conflict with the HT. Other reactors gripe about the rules "not making sense".
The Adjudicator is indeed haughty, but bear in mind that she is the representative of the High Table, and as such, wields considerable power and authority. She speaks for, and on behalf of, the HT, hence her use of the "royal we" when expressing declarations. And no doubt deleting her would carry a penalty far worse than breaking the rules of the Continental.

    1) It's not that everybody knows who Wick is and what the coin means; as we saw in the prior movie, the Russian mob controls the taxi companies and uses them for smuggling, so drivers are more likely than most to have some understanding of that world.
    2) The ballet school is a front for a Romani crime syndicate that takes in orphans and trains them to be killers. There is actually a spinoff show in the works where the main character is one of the girls shown in that scene. You may notice that the heavily tatted up guys have been shown in several prior scenes, but have never tried to take out Wick--this is because he is a member of their group.
    3) Halle Berry was trained by the same people at Taran Tactical as Reeves. She spent hundreds of hours training for the part.
    4) The assassin organization is an amalgam of different criminal groups in history. For example, the "consecrated" neutral ground comes from the Italian mob and taking the finger is straight out of the Yakuza.

    • @Kaylakaze
      @Kaylakaze 2 роки тому +2

The finger isn't from the Yakuza. They take the fingers starting at the pinky. The ring finger is from the Hashashin which the High Table iseems to be based on.

I think my favorite meta joke i've ever seen is in this movie, if you pay close attention during the scene where Morpheus gets his seven cuts, the guy doing the cuts only cuts him 6 times because the camera cut away right before the 6th cut. All the way through the movie she keeps talking shit about '7 cuts in seven days' and whatnot, making a huge deal out of the number 7 in general, and it was JUST so people would pay attention to the cutting scene and MAYBE count it up and find the joke. That's a ballsy, artistic move that's also hilarious and they have my respect.

Part of what makes John Wick so special as a series is the fact that so far it really hasn't seen that immense quality drop that tends to happen in many action series. You look for some older action stars like Stallone or Arnold and a lot of their big series dove off a cliff by the 3rd movie. John Wick has produced 3 fantastic movies that arguably have been getting BETTER and it really doesn't look like we should expect that to change with Chapter 4. I won't be too surprised if Chapter 4 becomes the first billion dollar movie of the series.

Atomic Blonde ended up being way more of a cold war thriller than I expected, really enjoyed it being at least a little more than a "dumb" action flick. I think John Wick had a similar effect on the industry to the first Die Hard: it reminded studios that an action movie CAN also have a good story and people will really appreciate it, and for a few years after we had a run of really great movies pushing the envelope until everything sunk back down to "lowest common denominator" territory.

Something about the knife fight scene I don't think gets enough mention, but once John knows he's not outnumbered, he pulls out the most grotesque kill with the knife through the eye, and then finishes off a guy he realizes isn't dead with an axe to the head, and both those moves are extremely calculated imo. Leaving a warning to anyone else who wants to go after him and is going to see the result of that fight.

And maybe certain movies are immediately before/after he enters/exits the matrix. It's the one subconsciously fighting to get back to reality. Or even sometimes being subjugated by the machines into being an enforcer. It's really just a fun what if theory I've had ever since the 4 the matrix got announced. Like I think his life as John Wick is right before the Matrix 4

I think you would really like the Jason Bourne series if you like these types of action movies. I dare say this series in the early ‘00’s set the stage and inspired the modern gun-fu movies with the revenge seeking one man army such as John Wick, The Equalizer, Taken, Jack Reacher, etc

I was thinking 'this guy reminds me of Frasier Crane' and then you said you did ballet. In the last JW reaction you knew all that art stuff. So I've diagnosed you as fancy. I'm gonna guess you're a professor of some kind. 🕵🏽‍♀️
Anyways, this is my favorite of the series. I'd really like to see Stahelski do something fancy as well. A film instead of a movie. For now it looks like he's sticking with straight up action. But right after this I was hoping he'd do a musical since the choreography here was so perfect. JW4 looks like it's going to be even more grandiose.

My only problem with this movie is they way overextended the lore, to the point the assassin underworld is no longer the underworld, it's the world, and civilians now inhabit the underworld.

Check out Bullet Train. It's directed by the uncredited co-director of John Wick 1, also a stuntman turned director, David Leitch (he did Deadpool 2 too).

Killing the Adjudicator would've been an act of escalation. Events would've gone from a small quick response force attacking outmatched but entrenched defenders to the High Table simply erasing the building itself with something like a drone launched ground penetrating bomb. In a global cabal that is run on such heavy ritual, often the only way to have a chance to win is to stay within the game's own rules.

I did ballet for almost 8 years, with 2.5 months of En Pointe, couldn't make it 3. Had no toe nails for over a year.

The director was the stunt coordinator on one if not all of the matrix movies I can't remember. The doctor that was sewing John up, he played the key maker in The matrix.

Not sure if anyone has commented, but there are a few behind the scene videos of the training that went on for John Wick. A suggestion if you haven't watched "Nobody" yet, that should be next.

I'd highly recommend checking out some bts footage for these movies. Specifically, this one the stunt work they did was amazing.

Chad Stahelski has only directed the John Wick series.... he was second unit director on Birds of Prey and Captain America: Civil War..... he was also the stunt double for Brandon Lee in The Crow and the replacement for Lee in the film to finish it after Lee died...
