That teacher is a keeper. My high school English teacher took us deep sea fishing when we were reading Hemingway's The Old Man and the Sea. It was too rough to even get past the inlet and the captains of our chartered boats turned us around at, probably, the last possible moment. I looked over at my teacher on the other craft as she herded students inside. Her complexion was as green as the water which swept the boat, front to back. We got back into the bay and we putt-putted around catching some bluefish.

ECKohns Not every superhero movie. Remember Batman wasn't chosen, he was needed. Star Wars? Luke wasn't chosen (at least I don't recall).
Not really sure Mortal Instuments is part of that crowd. Though they definitely tried to force it with the movie.
Twilight doesn't even deserve to be on that list.
Ender's Game was way older than this. It was written way back in the 80s.
And remember, it's SUPER important that the main character is pale. And everyone else has to be somewhat pale as well, except for that one black guy...

"We are going to sort you into arbitrary groups that define the rest of your life in the harsh way our dictator decides upon! (Mostly, they're to keep you uninformed and complacent.) You don't want to be sorted? We have a Very Literally Named Threat for you to face! As you fight against The Man, you find love in two people, and have to choose just one; they have little to no real say in the matter. In the end, you win, but the most lovable character in the book dies and changes you for a few chapters!"

***** Amen! Harry is absolutely several leagues apart from a cookie-cutter, post-apocalyptic love triangle story like all the others. I think Twilight started the YA brain-fluff movement, but all of the Hollywood execs definitely encouraged it by making films with multiple hot guys falling in love with awkward, relatable actresses because they knew teen girls would eat it out of their hands after Twilight. Thus, the mind-numbing, never-ending cycle began...
(And I hate to say it, but at least Twilight was fairly original, compared to The Hunger Games, Divergent, and every other story this video is making fun of.)
