Yes, The DCM can be used to compensate for chromatic dispersion from 10 Mbps to 40 Gbps data rates in ultra long haul coherent networks, such as SDH/SONET, CATV, and DWDM systems.

Your answer is incorrect. The question is whether DCM is required for coherent network. DCM is not required for coherent network due the development and capability of hardworking ADC & DSP. Non-coherent networks (10G and some 40G networks) are non-coherent, and therefore require DCM.
@@OpticsTrans In coherent network, DSP can compensate any amount of CD & PMD. So no need of DCM. Please elaborate then why we need DCM?
