Many reviewers miss the fact that the Marshall portables have a speaker on the back along with the port. Put this speaker in a corner or closer to a wall and the sound will project and be much bigger than what you hear than just sitting out in the open. The Marshall wins hands down.
There, he gives it away in the end. Excellent analysis. “ i would go for Kilburn only if I am not planning on getting another speaker in future.” Well that says it all

@@davidbell549 Don't know. Part of the whole deal besides from being good sounding speaker is that look. Now I bet the JBL is more dynamic and I normally go from performance over looks but with the KIllburn 1 I made an exception. Glad I did.

I wasn't looking for simultaneous connections, however second beats first would have been preferable for my use case. Loved the sound though. I wished they'd put a Kilburn 2 into a Kilburn 1 case
As an xb501g owner is like to clarify a few things. From my experience it is fine to watch videos with, there’s no latency with most video apps I’ve used like hulu, Netflix, browser videos. The only app that has latency is UA-cam. As for battery life I definitely doesn’t get the full 16 hours with all the bells and whistles on, but I bought it for partys and its typically lasted all night, dying or needing a charge some time in the morning. I’d say around 10 hours, possibly just under. Audio quality: I can’t speak for how it compares to the other 2 speakers as I don’t own them and videos will never do them justice. But it definitely gets loud enough to fill a room, although can get distorted at max volume. It is most likely the muddiest sounding of the bunch but depending on your taste you may not mind a less clear sound but punchier bass. That’s my piece, I enjoy the speaker quite a bit, although I’m definitely keeping the extreme 2 in mind now since it definitely wins in the portability department and the bottle opener would be a nice bonus for party’s
Kiefer Wickham is out loud enough for a party? And is the sound quality still good when it’s loud and is the bass good? Or is the bigger Sony speakers better
I have the same speaker too and it doesn't lag on videos so I could confirm this. Overall I do like now it sound and it does get loud. The bass is punchy but it doesn't get as low as the HK studio 5 of mine. The Sony does sound better when casting it to it tho so people need to consider that as well. WiFi audio will always sound better then smh BT transmission due to higher stream rate. The only thing I don't like about my Sony is that the battery doesn't hold well when it's off. Just strange as if they used some cheap battery or so but it's a Sony!
Thank you for this (and your other reviews)! I was torn between the Xtreme 2 and Kilburn 2. Your arguments helped me decide to get the Xtreme 2, although my heart was bleeding for the seemingly more natural sound of the Marshall. Not an easy choice.
i have the jbl xtreme 2 but i love the marshall and im thinking of buying one (and probably selling the xtreme 2) i love the metal grill and the knobs up top and those crispy highs, also i think for such a big speaker a port is a lot better than passive radiators and having one big driver is better than two smaller ones for bass performance
Idk but I’ll never compare Marshall to anything else. Marshall is just something else it’s sound is exactly of my taste. Proud Kilburn II owner tho I’ve Sony too
I'm sticking to Sony. I currently own an xb40 and I'm very satisfied with it even after seeing video reviews which didn't do it real justice. I previously owned an xb2 and was also satisfied with it. With my Sony speakers I don't just hear the music, I feel it too. The music quality is more than good enough for me and the bass is solid which is just my thing. I'd purchase the Sony 501g over these other two without thinking twice even after seeing this review.
