Planet of the Apes is a 2001 action-adventure video game in the Planet of the Apes franchise. The franchise's first video game, it was released as a tie-in to the 2001 Planet of the Apes film, though the plot is inspired by Pierre Boulle's 1963 novel and the 1968 film adaptation. Fox Interactive contracted Visiware to develop the game for PC and PlayStation and partnered with Ubi Soft as co-publisher. Torus Games developed a Game Boy Advance and Game Boy Color versions, which are based on the 1968 film and its 1970 sequel.
In Visiware's game, the player controls Ulysses, an astronaut who crashes on a future Earth where intelligent apes dominate humans. Ulysses explores various environments, aiding a human resistance movement who regard him as a prophesied savior and uncovering the secrets underlying ape society. Versions of series characters, such as Zira, Cornelius, Zaius and Nova, appear alongside new characters and species.
The game's release was delayed for three years due to problems with the long postponed film remake and Fox Interactive's decision to co-publish with another company. The delays were such that the game missed the film's release date. When it finally debuted on September 20, 2001, it met with largely negative reviews on the PlayStation and PC along with mixed reviews on the Game Boy versions, with the chief criticism being its weak controls and gameplay.

This game was such a challenge to me. There wasn't really any reliable and good controllers for computers then so I had to learn to use the mouse/keyboard.
if they had employed the WASD/mouse method it would have been even better than a controller. the odd way they did it seems to point to controls that were not there!

I heard about this game, apparently it has abysmal controls beyond human believe.... as if an _Ape_ would've programmed it...
The PS1 combat system is horrible, the lock on enemy is broken, the pc version is just fine though.

I actually managed to complete it around the year 2009 if i remember correctly. Don't know how i did it since the ps1 version has even worse graphics. I don't remember much but it having interesting levels later in the game

this game has the same atmospher and moodieness as "The New Adventures of the Time Machine." unlike that one, which uses similar controls for gameplay, this one runs well. TIme Machine is impossible to run! I wish I could play it too!
Had what I was looking for! Sub'd and hit bell :) AVGN did a nerd review of the PS1 game and made mention of it releasing on PC 1yr prior (can you believe things used to be that way?? I mean... I can, I lived thru it) I was unaware of it's release period so I had to check it out! Thanks for the upload! Comes as no surprise... Looks far better than the PS1 ver. as all games that crossed the 2 platforms did LMAO

How did you make it work under Win 10? I can´t make it run. I tried all the compatibility settings and still no luck
Try DgVoodoo2, it's a old graphics card emulator that's used for modern machines to help run old games, just configure it up and give it a go make sure to download dgvoodoo V2.x.x.x, here is link to the >dege.freeweb.hu/dgVoodoo2/dgVoodoo2.html
Also if your not sure on how to use it you can always you tube dgvoodoo2 and watch any tutorial set up doesn't matter what game it's the same way for all games, apart from the way you may need to configure

Could you upload the .bik video files? Because for some reason all of mine are 1kb files and they don't play like yours do. If you could upload them from your Data/Video folder that would be great!
You must have the ripped version where they take out all of the cinematics to make the game smaller, look around for a larger file version. I think this game is abandonware.

not to difficult to get this to run on W10 if you play your cards right. 11 a different matter. I'd prefer a 32 bit copy of Windows 10 Pro(not home) and if home offline. too much auto update crap! this kicks you to desktop and causes the game to run perpetual "windowed" and it is not designed to run "windowed" at all! this game had great music very atmospheric and much like the classic movies, It had decent storyline good enough. campy gameplay but loved it anyway, just one of those games!
