It's not that he doesn't want to be romantic, it's more like he doesn't really know or understand how to be romantic and it's hard for him to learn about it. On the other hand, Gem is a natural at this and it's so sweet when he turns those affections on Fourth (whatever character Fourth plays). Gem and Fourth really do have amazing chemistry together. It's just this particular series doesn't really capitalize on it as much in this version/series. Sighs. On the other hand, Ticket to Heaven looks like they will be REALLY good together in that one. This series (MLM) isn't really bad but it's not really anything special and people probably wouldn't rewatch it unless they're just diehard GemFourth fans lmao. But there's nothing truly special enough about it imo either. I did like the two changes they did in this one though - turning the homophobic teacher into a gay man (I kind of have it bad for Papang though, he's one of my bias's and STILL hasn't been given a main BL lead role yet... always a support character...) who had a partner (but still keeping the part where Fourth's character (Aoki) thinks the teacher is against being gay etc...) and also the part where Half actually dates Matmi. In the original Half (Aida) doesn't date Hashimoto (Matmi), he tells her he wants to still be friends but doesn't have any romantic feelings for her. I like this version better when it comes to those two things.

Mudmee’s acting here deserves so much recognition. She teared up when Half asked her to be his gf. It was a expression of relief and joy as a result of all the accumulated hardships, heartbreaks and disappointments over a one whole year. She represented it really well by tearing up, so natural and beautifully done. I was really moved and amazed.
When Half finally asked Mudmee to be his girlfriend and when they hugged, gosh Mudmee must’ve felt so fulfilled, so relieved, like the luckiest girl on the planet, to finally have the love of her life 😭✨
