You misunderstand what PDB files are. These are program debug files, and they store symbols. Symbols act as a link between compiled code and uncompiled code, allowing the debugger to be able to have access to your uncompiled code to say, point you to a line throwing an exception. Because of the nature of .PDB files, they contain a 'skeletal model' of the source code. This schema model is important to modders because it lets them develop code that can interact with minecraft code without having to do a full painstaking effort of reverse engineering the game's code to understand, say, what parameters X function takes. The PDB files are never modified during modding - they are only an important reference to minecraft's source code. However, PDB files are discouraged from production (release) because they provide a window into your source code that can be used by malicious actors looking to, well, modify the game. Think, cheat / hacked clients. Source: 5+ years a software and web engineer
Also to note: Removing the .pdb files is not instant death for mods, it just makes developing the mod apis people use and the mods themselves MUCH more difficult. And with Java edition having such easy mod support, its not hard to see bedrock modding die entirely. but its still possible to use old .pdb files as a reference and reverse engineer new source code, but the amount of time and effort would be beyond painful.
Addons and actual mods for bedrock are completely different. And the marketplace is not the only way to download content on bedrock, that is just wrong. There are plenty of apps, and also websites, where you can download content such as addons, maps, and texture packs, for free. And also, most of these mods, were mostly client based, and didn't really change too much about the game, just more of adding simple stuff like Optifine zoom and UI changes. And another thing, a majority of the community didn't even know actual mods for bedrock even existed. Most people would buy addons and other content from the marketplace or get free content elsewhere. So the fact that the community is outraged, when a majority of them didn't even use these mods at all, is just kind of silly. Microsoft probably saw that these features weren't being utilized enough by the community, and probably found it best to just do away with these features. And if Microsoft did want people to use pdb files, they should've made proper documentation for it, and showed how it works. Also, I'm not really sure if the same rules apply here, but a couple of months ago, Mojang removed a feature for addons, that a lot of the player base didn't even know about. I was actually one of the people who utilized it btw. I actually asked one of the Mojang employees, and they actually confirmed that the main reason why it was removed is because it was costing them money to keep supporting this feature. And since it wasn't too well known, it was pointless in their eyes, to keep paying for it to be up for like the 5 people probably using it. And after they removed it, sure, I was outraged. I complained for days, and so did others. However, there was nothing we could do, the only thing we could do, was move on. And it's best that everyone who worked on these actual mods, move on to. And I'm not saying just simply give up, but rather, stop complaining online, and acting like Mojang/Microsoft actually care about your opinion, they don't. They won't change their minds. This isn't as big as a problem most people are claiming it is, it is still a huge problem don't get me wrong but modding in bedrock was never really huge, the "mods" most people know are called addons which are sold on the marketplace and available for free on sites like MCPEDL or MCBedrock, true these site only work best for PC and mobile. The PDB files was mainly for server modding, to my knowledge, which the default software provided by mojang isn't great and prone to loads of bugs and exploits hackers take advantage of to break the game and make an unfair advantage for other players. This is one example why the PDB files were so necessary, to mod and fix these issues and make the overall experience better. As I have never modded the game using "Amethyst" or any other mods, I only have very limited information about what was truly capable with modding and the PDB files. I would also like to say that removing this is not good at all, it should be restored, I'm just correcting some information about addons and mods, as well as inform about MCPEDL and MCBedrock as for everything I've seen, looks as if many people think the marketplace is the only way to get addons, which is very much false.
as a java player who plays with mods this is unfair for bedrock players to pay to download mods. mods can help you get more creative and makes the game more fun. mods are the thing that made Minecraft popular
The rules of Minecraft Microsoft has to follow Players are able to change what Versions they play. Examples: beta 1.7.3,1.12 etc A Minecraft world must be able to update through the versions of Minecraft Players can use Mods.
@@absolutezero9507 I was wondering the same thing, when I imported an add on onto Minecraft, nothing happened,so it really doesn't affect addons,it just affects a different type of mods that are used for exploits
Mods on Minecraft Bedrock Edition should be unbanned because they offer players greater creativity, flexibility, and community-driven content compared to the restrictive nature of the Minecraft Marketplace. While the Marketplace limits players to pre-approved content, often paid for, mods allow users to create and share their own custom experiences for free. Unbanning mods would foster a more inclusive and vibrant community where creativity isn't confined to commercial interests, and players of all backgrounds can explore new gameplay mechanics, features, and worlds without financial barriers. Additionally, it would encourage learning and collaboration as players could develop and share their own mods, contributing to the game's growth and accessibility. (ChatGPT wrote this)
Mobile player can still download mods for the game through Minecraft addon apps and even addon makers, idk if these gonna work but if i can make mods on my phone then definitely
They stand true to their name. "Marketplace" almost nothing there is free. (Except during the Build up challenge & especially the 15th anniversary where Mojang released a free official mod from themselves) Which is why as a MCPE player, i use mod apps to download mods. The decent mods i currently have in my MCPE are almost all from MCPEDL.
Considering what modders and hackers do in Minecraft Communities and how they solve the problem, picking a fight with them isn't good idea. Hacking Mojang will be inevitable.
They Removed It Because It Makes hacking Easier. The File Was Replaced With Something that is a little harder to understand. Yes, It means project Amethyst and a few other mods need to shut down, but it is a good change so that hacks are harder to do.
Eh. Good change? Not really. Even if it did make hacking less easy, they still brought down a very large community with it. I guess it just depends on whether you see hacking as a big enough issue to make the change the way they did.
@@AllMightyOsros most mods are still possible though, because of blockbench, and other mod making softwares that let you make a mod without knowing coding. Most moders are nearly unaffected though
And this is why i was scared of microsoft taking minecraft, minecraft to me felt like a game centered around sharing and creating, sure mod makers could put up pay walls to access them which is totally understandable for really big and expansive mods but there is a reason why curse forge and people made their mods free, it adds new life to minecraft in ways that would form new communities and forge the base sandbox of minecraft. But now with microsoft now not only making it a challange to create new mods but also profit on others works... lets just hope java remains intact and they dont make mods, really the only thing keeping minecraft afloat rn, just a waste of time to create to fund a company that doesn't seem to really care about the community.
I don’t see the downside to this people that really care about mod Minecraft can sell it in the marketplace and earn money for it. I’m 48 years old. I’ve been playing Minecraft since it came out on PC. I now played it on the Xbox series X it’s more economical for a gamer to buy a console nowadays and it is a big PC rig unless you’re born with a silver spoon in your mouth which most families nowadays aren’t I would gladly pay $10-$15 for better on bedrock, RL craft, actions and stuff, and any other big time mod that has been put onto PC and Java. This is a great way for to make extra money and mine coins are so inexpensive that my son can buy it with his allowance. As an adult, I don’t see the downside to this. I only see it as positive.
I made that mistake when I first started tryin to mod a server, the most important issue and difference between installing mods and market mods is not even close an a complete waist of money when u can't combine any the mods u buy, u play them all strictly alone by itself an was a complete waist of money
Actually bro mojang wants Everyone buy addons from marketplace, they dosent want we download mods for free Because mojang cant make money by third party addons, and also marketplace addons price is more than minecraft price so mojang can make more money than buying minecraft + minecoins also gets by money Mojang wants to make money fr fr
Bedrock is already struggling right now with half of the community agreeing that it's trash, mojang for the love of god don't make that amount increase further!
yea at this point im glad i don't play Minecraft as much as before, and this just supports it even more now :/ i played bedrock more than java cause on just how easy it is for modding and the fact it can be played on some pretty old hardware easily is neat too, but now Minecraft doesn't feel the same anymore, mojang doesn't seem to be involved with the community at all and at this point, why even support a game that they hack and slashed to the point where it's only life support might be cutoff,
The head of the marketplace guy"brinkmanship" is now discussing about this! they might want to keep this in, so they are actually listening to the community
@@AllMightyOsros as someone playing in mobile, the mods you can download in certain apps, in my case MCPEDL, varies so it really depends on the mod quality. But luckily, i have mods here as good as some in Java.

A Minecraft world must be able to update through the versions of Minecraft
Players can use Mods.
It’s like the Minecraft 10 commandments lol
Mojang shit himself for no reason and then he fell on the stairs and fell down📉📉📉
Petition to get minecraft bedrock mods back

You guys do know this dont affect addons right?
@@AWC-Gamingyou can get addons from outside the marketplace. Mcpedl and modbay are great places to get mods.
This doesn't affect add-ons though..?
(ChatGPT wrote this)
Mobile player can still download mods for the game through Minecraft addon apps and even addon makers, idk if these gonna work but if i can make mods on my phone then definitely
alot of those do end up breaking after a while sadly
The marketplace has no purpose other than profits
They stand true to their name. "Marketplace" almost nothing there is free. (Except during the Build up challenge & especially the 15th anniversary where Mojang released a free official mod from themselves)
Which is why as a MCPE player, i use mod apps to download mods. The decent mods i currently have in my MCPE are almost all from MCPEDL.
As long as Java mods stay
Java players would most likely probably tear them apart if they tried
@@andrewtyler7648 fr
@@andrewtyler7648for real. There would be plug ins to manually remove any form of mod detection crap they might try.
Considering what modders and hackers do in Minecraft Communities and how they solve the problem, picking a fight with them isn't good idea. Hacking Mojang will be inevitable.
Microsoft will kill off Minecraft interest by removing the ability to customize the game
If Microsoft were to ever do that, i'd play the game's older versions where mods can still be installed to the game.
The funny thing is, this actually gets rid of bedrock hackers too. So everyone loses.
Mojang: we have a game that brings us millions of dollars, lets destroy the game and make people not play :D
Mojang:no more mods
Me:no more Minecraft 😂
@@TCMCGMBNo one fucking cares about hackers minecraft will get boring if mods get removed
You can install mods on bedrock for free using MCPEDL
The Mods has been removed, not the mods entirely but one of the most important features for the mods to work
@@Zeebolious_689it’s been 4 months the mods I use works because guess what everyone moved on
minecraft added java script and bedrock modders are to brain dead to understand java script mods are still a thing
Mojang just fell into the backrooms, not the stairs, the FUCKING backrooms 💀💀💀
I think people forget that hack clients use the same things to function so I don't really mind
I don't think Minecraft will last long without mods..
I made that mistake when I first started tryin to mod a server, the most important issue and difference between installing mods and market mods is not even close an a complete waist of money when u can't combine any the mods u buy, u play them all strictly alone by itself an was a complete waist of money
The whole "forcing people to pay for mods" idea is extremely unpopular, and people will not cave. Gamers are stubborn that way.
I didnt even know minecraft bedrock had mods outside of the marketplace
It sucks even more because the marketplace mods suck in my opinion.
Actually bro mojang wants Everyone buy addons from marketplace, they dosent want we download mods for free Because mojang cant make money by third party addons, and also marketplace addons price is more than minecraft price so mojang can make more money than buying minecraft + minecoins also gets by money
Mojang wants to make money fr fr
When was mods ever banned because I’m trying too bring bedrock back
Didn't take them as the greedy type of people but I guess I was wrong.
Bedrock is already struggling right now with half of the community agreeing that it's trash, mojang for the love of god don't make that amount increase further!
I agree. If people were to actually play it instead of watching a couple of YT videos, they'd see it isn't as bad as they think it is.
I wish bedrock wasn't always so far behind java
yea at this point im glad i don't play Minecraft as much as before, and this just supports it even more now :/
i played bedrock more than java cause on just how easy it is for modding and the fact it can be played on some pretty old hardware easily is neat too,
but now Minecraft doesn't feel the same anymore, mojang doesn't seem to be involved with the community at all and at this point,
why even support a game that they hack and slashed to the point where it's only life support might be cutoff,
Minecraft is slowly becoming greedy 💀
If Minecraft Banned Mods
IDK BUT PLS DONT.
Mojang:
i'll remove what turn minecraft a unique and unlimited game to me see what happen
The head of the marketplace guy"brinkmanship" is now discussing about this! they might want to keep this in, so they are actually listening to the community
You can also do the second method in mobile.
Yeah, but… mobile.
@@AllMightyOsros as someone playing in mobile, the mods you can download in certain apps, in my case MCPEDL, varies so it really depends on the mod quality. But luckily, i have mods here as good as some in Java.
MCPDEL: im still standing!!!
What real sad because i love playing FNaF in minecraft but in mojang's eyes fnaf is "Not for kids" So i will never be able to play in my 5 year old world :(
Minecraft bedcrock 1.21.01-1.20.90 be like:You forgot to delete my version of Mojang 😂
Its so painful trying to defend bedrock when Microsoft keeps being Microsoft
Mojang does like making their players miserable, especially me😢
This is why i changed from addons creator to bedrock commander
Minecraft removing the only good thing abt it
The marketplace is terrible but at the same time I literally cannot blame mojang for trying to figure out ways to make more money. Minecraft is a one time purchase game and literally everyone has it if no one bought stuff from the market place they wouldn’t be making any money from the game
Java Modders: "It’s showtime!"
Mojang would rather spend all their time and resources killing the modding scene on Bedrock than actually add stuff into their own game 💀
you can get the same type of addons as the marketplace online too why does no one know this
This is why Legacy is still my beloved version
This is because they want people to make addons using their free Minecraft Addon maker tool.
Mojang went from being a game where i could add a risk to by adding mods with my friends now i might have to stop playing #unban mods
I haven't tried mods yet!!
if modding truly stops, this is how the game dies
My question is how do the marketplace mods work in the first place ....? Will it be possible to replicate it without pdb files..?
mojang hates fun frfr
Mods on bedrock still work. The pbd files affects only a few things that you normally wouldn't even get into, like modified server softwear such as BDSX or liteloaderbds.
@@XAssassin1065as someone who uses a ton of mods on bedrock I can confirm, yes the mods LOOK okay but function poorly, like furniture mods you can’t sit down in chairs and etc, and other mods are completely just gone,
@@AxolotlFNOffical that technically depends entirely on the addon. I usually avoid furniture mods due to their low quality and weird entity behavior.
Tho I do have a few that dont have those issues.
2:23 mainly Microsoft
I hope Minecraft gets fired cause removing mods! 🤣
No mods❎
Play version of Minecraft that have holiday features✅
But hard for console to do that
Well move might awaken a new mod launcher like forge, fabric or even modrinth but for bedrock like we used to have, remember block launcher ? This might just be the modern version but with limitations like only being available on pc or smth
Every single day, Mojang is slowly turning into Epic Games because of Microsoft
I think they tired of the game and decided to try killin it on purpose
Bruh that's so dumb more people are going to quit than there will to actually buy any of the horrible add ons they have
Even a fucking block game is getting overrun by battlepasses
I won’t be surprised if millions quit minecraft
can't you just download add-on packs from the internet?????
also marketplace doesnt have mods they dont modify the game's code, they're maps, texture packs or add-ons
Ima be honest i feel like we need to boycott the marketplace IMO
There are multiple apps you can use to get mods on bedrock edition for Minecraft
Mojang truely is greedy...
lets hope java will still have mods
I doubt that they’ll ever remove mods for bedrock. If they do, at that point, you might as well take Minecraft out back like ol yeller.
@AllMightyOsros edit your comment brah 💀
is this the reason i just updated the game and all my addons are fucked up
Every single youtoube video covering this has its video title implying that ALL minecraft modding is dead.
Every single time. UA-cam incentivises this.
BRO WTF WHATTTTTT WHATTT WHY THE HELL WE ALWASY NEED TO GET İNTO ONLY P2TW İN ALL GAMES WHYYYYYY İ HATE WHEM THİS HAPPEND
The mojang are scamming
What if people switch to java or just stick to old versions that wouldnt be affected by the change?
No MODs, No Servers!
W/o mods, Minecraft would've been a very boring game for most of the time. Since it lacks the things we players often request on Mojang but frequently rejects. (like guns, cars, furnitures of any kind, new dimensions, new mob variants & designs, etc.)
they did this for fucking microtransactions
we're so fucked
Well i guess after the update ill be hard stuck in a old version of mc
This is why minecraft should never have accepted microsoft buying the game. it would have been alot different
java 1.12.2 is better than newest versions bc of that
I love Java dude. That’s why I’m taking a programming in Java course for my fall semester lol
I loooove 1.12.2 it runs on pritty mutch anything and it’s not to simple I love that version
@Nocommentsuwu 😡😡😡🤬🤬🤬 don’t be so mean
i played in v1.16 before that happened
Thank goodness this is only for bedrock. It’s still not good, but it could’ve been way *way* worse.
