    I had my earphones on the lowest level and still could hear till the end (not beyond 20khz) and i started felling really dizzy after 17khz

    I love this mainly because I had an understanding of bit depth but no one has ever explained frequency. My limit was def 16Khz. This is super useful to know especially now that Apple supports lossless. I’ll no longer care about the frequency. I’m going to be chasing bit depth because even without a fancy test like this, bit depth on a track to track comparison makes the most noticeable difference to my ears.

      @PeterPee  2 роки тому

      Bit rate determines the dynamic range. How many fine steps you can have for each frequency. So yes, the difference between 16 bit and 24 bit will be there.

    Hi Peter, another great video! I watch everything you post. You should consider linking this video with your video about hires tiers (source, client, connection type and playback). I felt that video was also great but needed one last tier … the human ear (and this video just demonstrated there is plenty of variability with hearing … primarily age.

      The is for that suggestion! I’ll look to suggesting the video from there.

    You can't hear beyond 16khz because UA-cam uses AAC format which cuts off at 16khz. This test should be conducted in a Lab. Not through UA-cam

    Hi...I need a clarification...I use a sony A8g Oled tv 55 inch 2019 model....I usually use the usb port on tv to attach a external drive with movies to play them or use streaming service....I had not used external audio or home theatre systems so far...I am planning to purchase samsung q950a sound bar which has got many rave reviews...I was told by my friends that the A8g has only ARC and no eARC and hence I might not be able to get the Dolby effect...Is it true...if so what to do... kindly help....

    Hi Peter, I saw Sonos and Ikea have a new Art speaker. Would love to see a video on it. Do you know if that art speaker would be a worthwhile addition to an arc-sub-2 rear ones sonos set-up? I'd place it on a side wall of the room. I'm worried it might be more harm than good.

    • @PeterPee
      @PeterPee  2 роки тому +1

      In general you shouldn’t add more speakers to a complete setup. No matter how good the speaker is.

    Through both my stereo pair, center channel (mono mode), and wireless headphones, I was able to reliably hear to 13 kHz, right in line with me being a 49 year old male. It was at that point where I began noticing the ambient noise of my room.

      Oh yes, like I was trying to convince myself that I can but actually I can't if I get my son to pause and play without me knowing.

    I think the frequency response of your headphone, dac and amp matters. Things beyond mid range have a low fr, you can't hear much even if you are able to

    About 16kHz is my limit, maybe more with more volume, but I won't pursue that dangerous challenge. I do know though that tin hifi p1 amped powerfully, can make a sting on my ears, so I got enough of dangerous experience with highs.
    Low on other hand are more safe, I ventured down to 4Hz, not that you cannot hear/feel pressure at 3Hz down, just that it's impossible to describe that as a sound for me. Pretty amazing experience btw, made in total silence on the old cheap loss plug's, new liners bad 005 should do well too, but it's enough to hear once, it's not totally safe to listen to lows at high volume either.
    Anyway, want also to mention that though tin p1 earphones was quite harsh by being loud above 16kHz, I could hear like Bells or Voices more clearly, like close and real, so I guess hi freq matters.
    20kHz should be enough though, but 20hz and 990kbits not, depends on equipment and source though.

      Could be. I tried to convince myself that I can hear 17KHz... then I told my son to play/pause it without me knowing.. And I realised I couldn't hear it. :)

    There is a problem with the sound above 10 Khz for me : no sound heard. So, i found this strange...
    To be sure, i take the sound freeware *Audacity,* i add a track, then in the menu "Generate" and "Tonality", i can specify the frequency i want, and i listen it with the [Pre-Listen] button and... : i hear until 15 750 Hz.
    So : there is a problem with sound encoding in UA-cam. ^^
    Try this experience too ! ;)
    Thanks a lot for your job. ;)

      Hmmm... I got worried for a while. Thanks for pointing this out. So I have my PC's sound output to a Rode Rodecaster Pro. It's a mixer with sound level meters monitoring live input. At every frequency right up to 20Khz, the levels are registering so it is there. But I just can't hear it.

    Haha. Peter nice one… when I at 19 years old. I tested my ears in a lab to be at least able to hear 18khz pretty loud.. 20 years later….. I stuck at 16khz haha.. ear drum harden… haha that’s why the saying, 20+ ears was top notch but no money to buy equipment. When in the 40s ear deteriorated but started to care about sound, and buy HiFi stuff.

    • @PeterPee
      @PeterPee  2 роки тому

      Haha... the way you put it... Yes, you are so absolutely right... Actually, I started this hobby when I was 11 years old.. But using so called, higher quality headphones than the ones that came with the aiwa cassette player. The difference was night and day truly when you compare $40 earphones with free earphones. :D

    At 14k the frequency sounded lower to me. Anyone else?

  • @grant8653
    @grant8653 Рік тому +1

    The human ear can detect and perceive far beyond 20khz they just cant audibly hear it. Your tiny bones in ear vibrate to give sound beyond 20khz it still vibrates and can make you feel it. Which is still detecting sound.

  • @honigschlecker1

    A bit worrying - at 47 years the 5 khz was very uncomfortable, 7 khz a bit lower, and the 10 khz was _almost_ not hearable anymore.
    I do have a pretty bad tinnitus on top. 😉 Still love music, though. 🙂

    • @Watch4Me

    • @honigschlecker1
      @honigschlecker1 2 роки тому +1

      @@Watch4Me I guess wearing ANC headphones has made hearing of higher frequencies probably worse in my case. At least the tinnitus didn't get worse in the last couple years. (Not really better either, though.)
      Good luck!
