Installing MK8 Golf R Paddles on a MK8 GTI

So I decided to upgrade the shift paddles on my MK8 Golf GTI for a better driving experience. A must do DIY on any MK8 GTI in my opinion

Makes a great difference. I bought some aftermarket clip on type first and they were rubbish, they kept falling off. This is such an OEM upgrade with a great feel.

@DownShiftThrottle fitted them on my lunch break today and they look so much better than the buttons it had before! Glad I went down the Ebay route and picked some up for £70 rather than the £250+ VW were asking for!

I think the back of the steering wheel mounts are different on a mk7 and 7.5. These won’t fit

Im planning on doing this. Do you think it’s worth it to disconnect the battery? Is it really that dangerous to do it without disconnecting it? Thanks a lot

You should really disconnect the battery but won't be able to turn the steering to get to the holes behind the steering wheel

@@DownShiftThrottleI just did it…disconnected the battery, reconnected every time to turn the steering wheel to access the 3 airbag clips. Be ready to have a ton of errors when you’re done. A bunch of codes will have to be cleared with a scanner…

Should be safe, I did without disconnecting battery. I hold no responsibility if your airbag goes off though lol
