Sorry this one took so long, it was originally supposed to be another video but I tossed that script. And big thanks for all the feedback, keep it coming!
@@tmcoastguard hi, question about Punk, I always hear even among pros his neutral is exceptional, hes consistently called the best neutral player in the scene, why is he so damn good at neutral(outside of his insane reactions)
Gotta give respect to Punk for in such an explosive game choosing to still play a fundamental heavy neutral approach, and still controlling the screen second to none
A neutral drive rush has a minimum of 11 frames before before you can act, 3 of parry, 8 of drive rush start up. With the 10 frames of screen freeze, that means the fastest attack out of a neutral drive rush hits on frame 25.
This video is amazing! Breaks down an important fighting game concept in such a beautiful and understandable way. Also loved adding real world examples with the pros. You've got a new sub and can't wait for more amazing videos!
Putting Dupe Frog for disingenuous is absolute gold haha! Would have been even better if it were 2 for certain reasons ww. Joke aside, mega great video! Learned something new and was a fun watch! Nicely done Coastguard!
I think after watching this video, I'm like 4x times better at SF6 now. This is an incredible video man! I hope you post so much more and help make me a master-level player!
I looked at your subscriber count after finishing the video and was shocked at how criminally underrated you are. I was expecting at least 10K! The amount of effort that went into this is clear to see and I hope you grow to the following you sincerely deserve! Well done dude! 💖
Other than the music being too loud, fantastic video. The mental stack has been, honestly, one of the most fascinating aspects of playing fighting games to me. Especially to newcomers, it's easy to miss all the strategy and mindgames that occur in FGs, but that part is what makes them so rewarding and fun to me. Keep up the great work, you're seriously on a roll.
Glad to see I'm not the only person who wanted to make a video mentioning Mental Stack. Although the script I wrote included it from wanting to gush a bit about John Choi lol. Hopefully I'll be done with it early November.
Huge respect to the quality of videos, feels like you have 50 times the subs you do and I’m sure you will in no time if you keep content like this up. Commenting to give a little boost too never hurt
This is an incredible video, you really deserve a lot of recognition for it, explains really well how it sometimes feels playing a single match of this game
imo the problem with drive rush isn't as much that it is too unreactable, but that it is too difficult to have to guess what the opponent is going to do, and pray that whatever button you pick beats them out.
Good video, but In the future I recommend using a background with less colors or less saturated colors. It is very difficult to read much of the text in the video.
plus frame jump ins have always been a staple of street fighter that will never change, and I understand that but..... I am hobby game dev, and the way that I would make jump ins less... um... rewarding is that if a jump in attack successfully lands it would have the properties of a powerful knockback attack and send you flying perhaps 10 meters back, this makes it so that the insane combo damage from one successful jump in is non-existent Think of it, if I could jump 3 meters into the air and come to the ground with a flying kick attack, I'm pretty sure it would do more damage and knockback than any attack I could do on the ground.... jabs, roundhouse kicks, spinning kicks or anything
Neutral gotta end some time and if someone is mad at you for playing the game with your tools you gotta look over and see if they're playing a character like 3s chun.
If ryu cancels it late, then you can actually throw him out of it, granted he probably didn’t cancel late, but if he was reacting there was no reason to not be mashing throw, and we would have seen a counter hit indicator
@@wodij Geometry dash came wayyyy before SF5! They must've copied it from them, but that makes sense. Their soundtrack was groundbreaking when it released! ☝
10:53 I wouldn't call these a read. You cycle through all your options, focusing on the one the opponent currently has a hard time dealing with. Then you might have 1 or 2 things that are different that you'll throw out to keep them guessing. Wouldn't say it's a read and more about keeping the opponent guessing.
There is no way to skip neutral. You are in neutral before using the "skip" and you are taking an action (usually rushing in) to claim an advantage. If your opponent preemptively attacks, it beats your rush in. If you wait and punish, it beats preemptive attacks, if they wait and punish, they lose to rush ins. It's still neutral. Stop calling it a skip.
"neutral skips" ARE neutral. A fair amount of this video is disingenuous. Saying dashes are "faster" than drive rush may be true, but a lot of the "time" from instant parry drive rush is spent further away from the opponent. On top of that, you have to deal with inertia from the normal the opponent presses, making some drive rushes nearly impossible to check even if you react. Juri st.mk is a good example. You also can't cancel or abort your dash. If somebody does a super in response to your drive rush, you can super them back and win. Contrary to the video, you are nearly always in throw range after pressing a pdr button, unless you're doing it from ridiculously far out, which you usually shouldn't be. Street fighter 6 is designed around the concept of every option having a counter that, if you're ready for it, is rewarding and punishes the opponent for picking it. Drive rush's inertia is a flaw because it allows the opponent to shield themselves with a ridiculous hitbox as they move. Is this necessarily drive rush's problem? Not exactly, but it's a catch-22 because nerfing the hitbox or data of a move for drive rush makes it worse from standing too. Something else to consider in regards to "reacting" to certain options is *keyframes.* when something has a smooth, even animation without much oomph or action to it, it can be much harder to react to compared to a faster option that has a lot of action. Nash in season 1 of sfv was notorious for this, and Rashid in sf6 on release had a similar issue that they later patched. A major issue with drive rush is despite the noise and the green glow, the noise doesn't play until the opponent starts moving, and the green glow is only visible for a few frames before that. A lot of the basic points addressing mental stack are covered fairly well though.
Sorry this one took so long, it was originally supposed to be another video but I tossed that script. And big thanks for all the feedback, keep it coming!

"Skiping neutral is part of neutral" is my favorite sajam quote
That thumbnail terrifies me
" Prepare "
" Too Slow "
Always followed by " arrogant fool "
See guys I'm not being random, I'm mental stacking
Dont forget the biggest mental stack of all for these pros: the crowd, money, and pressure being watched, recorded and broadcasted to millions
I think they get used to it by now
You cant get used to it, you can just pretend to dont care

Why didn't I know of this channel and why isn't it bigger? Very well done, subscribed.
The Mental Stack is when you ask your opponent "You'd never get hit by this, right?" And the answer is "Yes I would."
10/10 this explains mental stack perfectly and is beutifully edited
The thumbnail got me visualizing M. Bison running with Drift Stage Main Theme blasting in the background like that one MoldyBagel video about Nappa.
6:58 me too bro. I can still see that Kawhi leonard like face he uses in his thumbnails and I can still hear the British accent

sf4 will always be the best street fighter era. Man I wish those cancels and fadc's were back... best thing ever to happen in neutral dude.
jumping in sf6 is basically a high risk high reward strat thats why so many players still choose to jump. Also, we human being sometimes just panic.
Bro this is a MOVIE.
Regigigas for slow reaction time is a hilarious detail.
This level of content is great bro, keep it up. Thank you for this.
Great analysis! Loved the editing too!
Divine narration my dude, the ending was Kino as they say.
Top shelf analysis. You just won yourself a subscriber ^_^
Increíble video , gran trabajo explicando el "neutral" y excelentes visuales.

please tell me your joking😭🙏

@9:01 just a small thing but this Drive Impact is guaranteed with this set up and Cammy's lack of level 1.

I think you need a video explaining strike throw mix because without that advantage isn't that clear to a new player.
Wow, amazing video! IDK how you don't have more subs. Also, love the geometry dash music in the end, brought back memories!

Yep, a few weeks after winning evo for kof
