We are using 2006 honda city ZX, odo 2.1 lakh. Had bought it brand new and this car although has idsi engine brings smile every single time I start driving even now with its butter smooth, sleek and short throw gear shift. Fan of honda for its supreme refinement and great reliability. Although our family will upgrade to another car after using this city for 15 years now, I intend to keep this baby with me due to sheer joy it is, to drive. One has to drive honda city to feel it. It can't be understood just by hearing praises from other people.

Was about to buy Hyundai Creta, but went for a test drive of this iv-tech machine and loved it. Proud owner of Honda City Zx Mt. One must consider it if buying a car in 12-17 lakhs segment.

Ground clearance has never been an issue both in Delhi roads (broken roads included) and on rough highway patches. This glides over them smoothly. Plus, there's an added comfort over compact SUVs.
Honda City has always been my dream car, probably one day I will buy. Superb, feature-loaded, an executive class vehicle and HONDA brand trust, What else one could ask for?
Fell in love with Honda City for the first time when my colleague asked me to drive his car as he was having headache. Then I waited and bought the 4th generation in 2009. I drove it till Feb this year. Now I'm a proud owner of the fifth generation VMT!!

Thanks for highlighting this car. The lower variants specially offer a great well-rounded package and this car would suit the needs of most tier-1 and tier-2 city customers. There's no need for that extra GC when 90% of your driving is within city limits.
I own a city and I really love it, however market has clearly moved to suv and honda has simply been a laggard in reacting to market scenario. City was clocking 7k a month sale at one point of time and now it barely touches 3k a month.. wake up honda !!!!
Exactly my feelings. Pathetic roads and monstrous speed breakers have diverted market from sedans to suv completely. And honda is worst and last to adapt to market demands all the time. They brought diesel engines also too late.
I have driven almost all brands which are available in India including luxury brands ..and I own them as well..but Honda City is different breed alltogether ...best car in terms of comfort and ease of driving...and best engine longevity ...no car brand can match honda citys drive and feel ...

I agree with you fully about City. One of the most desired Sedan in Indian offerings. With ever declining demand for Sedan in Indian market to be very honest City & Amaze might not be able to Survive for long. Other than Sedans offering Honda does not have good presence or portfolio. Hard times for Honda ahead.

Presently Jazz & WR-V both together are unable to cross more more than 500-600 Units per month. Whereas all the others in the competition are doing well.

I am using city zx 2008 till now no complaints. Plan are on in for this 5 th generation city. One more point why this car is the cruise control with peddle control speed. It is the most imp feature according to me. I use cruise control with my friends vento but u can’t use for more than 2 min. In new Honda we can chance the speed by peddle shifting on steering wheel.

It will look like a car on stilts. You want your car to look like it's standing on a stool. Every vehicle has a purpose. Sedans have low centre of gravity. If you want more ground clearance, you should consider a compact suv.
Agree, that's how it looks like if u n I design. Better leave it to the designers. If they could address the problem, great. Else v have other alternatives as you mentioned, compact SUVs
Howz the outside sheet metal quality? Have seen most older honda city with very bad looking door panels due to dents and undulations. Is this the case with 5th gen also?

Loved you review as always. City has been a benchmark in its segment. For small reasons it has been lagging in poor infotainment system with poor screen resolution , low GC and engine is noisy with the introduction of DOHC
Own v gen city,I disagree on GC have driven all around in city and hills never scraping anything, resolution is average , infotainment is at par in the segment,overall best sedan in this segment and even one segment above...
Have you seated 5 persons to check GC? I have my friends 5th gen city it scrapes at ramps of mall, large spread breakers and broken patches of road which a Skoda rapid clears off

Actually suspension of a city wasn't great though since it's launch but you've admired about the ivtech's suspension so it Should have modified by the co , no ? You've mentioned further that it's suspension is better than skoda rapid then I'll have to check it out !
Perfect sedan except missing few nicknacks like panaromic sunroof,adaptive cruise control, front ventilated seat,a little better infotainment system maybe. Otherwise this car seems to outshine all other rivals very easily.

only thing i dislike about the rear seat is the arm rest, it rests uppon the seat instead of holding itself up, I usually like to keep my phone under the arm rest, but i cant do that on this car without squishing my phone
Honda and toyota cvts are proven to be very reliable. Japanese cars are made to last. And never fall apart unless somethibg is wrong with user or mechanic. I use 2006 honda city ZX crossed 2 lakh kms as first owner. I am manual gearbox fan though.
@@sipkaro we are using petrol city only. Haven't added cng to it. So far we have changed ac compressor clutch coil once which is minor job. And normal routine service all the time including spark plug replacements. Engine, clutch, and gearbox is never touched or required repairs till now. Though our usage is 90% on highways so wear and tear of these critical components are minimum. In City area in traffic, clutch is likely to wear out more. We had changed suspension struts once and some bushes here and there along with wheel bearings quite a few times but their deteoration is also because of pathetic roads and speed breakers we have in india. It's not fault of the car. Only because of poor roads, most of the market is shifting to SUVs. Our next car would also be suv or muv.

Ground clearance is the one am not comfortable with for this car. Honda should increase it to 175 mm atleast. Rest it is just the best..

engine cover at bottom is working as hurdle in proper ground clearance honda should resolve it

Honda and toyota cvts are proven to be very reliable. Japanese cars are made to last. And never fall apart unless somethibg is wrong with user or mechanic.
I use 2006 honda city ZX crossed 2 lakh kms as first owner. I am manual gearbox fan though.

@@sipkaro we are using petrol city only. Haven't added cng to it. So far we have changed ac compressor clutch coil once which is minor job. And normal routine service all the time including spark plug replacements.
Engine, clutch, and gearbox is never touched or required repairs till now. Though our usage is 90% on highways so wear and tear of these critical components are minimum. In City area in traffic, clutch is likely to wear out more.
We had changed suspension struts once and some bushes here and there along with wheel bearings quite a few times but their deteoration is also because of pathetic roads and speed breakers we have in india. It's not fault of the car.
Only because of poor roads, most of the market is shifting to SUVs. Our next car would also be suv or muv.

Sonet: Looks attractive but look for service centres and let Kia stabilise in Indian market first.
Tigun: good option but look for practicality and budget
