    Lived and worked in Canada for years and now moved back home (Philippines) with my Canadian husband. For many personal reasons we decided to live here in Pinas for good. If the circumstances were on our terms we will stay longer in Canada, but let us respect someone’s decision on how to live their lives or where they wanna live. I miss Canada,my relatives and friends there but I’m happy to experience summer all year round. I’m loving to have fresh picked veggies and fruits given by neighbours . The best beaches around us which is healthier for us. You can never go wrong in living your life with joy and peace. Canada or Philippines it doesn’t matter. But I hope people will stop judging us why we moved back sooner in Philippines. I guess it’s a matter of balancing life. ❤️❤️❤️

      There is nothing wrong in moving back to the Philippines. In fact I admire them for their decisions to move back to the Philippines and have the guts to start a business there. They mentioned that they have good jobs with good pay in Canada. But what is missing in this vlog was they did not even mentioned how grateful they were for the opportunities Canada has given them. We have a saying in the Philippines, ANG HINDI LUMINGON SA PINANGALINGAN AY HINDI MAKAKARATING SA PAPAROONAN. I am always grateful on what Canada has given to me.

      Plan well while young. You can work 3 jobs in the States or America but learn to invest your money well like in stocks or housing. If you work 3 jobs and do not invest and use it only to buy the latest gadgets, expensive clothes, bags, cars, too many vacations in a year then by 40's you still will be struggling to make ends meet. By 45 years to 50 years old you should have some good investments(401 K, stocks or paid off house) and then semi-retire. That is how you make it in the west. True the first 15 to 20 years of both your lives as husband and wife will be just a life of robots but that is just how it is in the West. In the Philippines if you do not have a good business, life is hard because everything is expensive and people in the Philippines are so status conscious., the rich always looks down on the poor specially in the provinces, you are not invited in their parties..LOL..No government subsidies for the poor because politicians are stealing the money.

    Thank you for sharing your perspective. I know from experience that after speaking to many Filipinos in Alberta just as an example that life is not easy for them. They must have 2 jobs at times and both man and woman working! In fact almost all Canadians life is like that. The quality of life suffers from working so hard due to the crazy cost of living. This creates a lot of stress. So many Filipinos think life in Canada is a breeze… it’s not like that at all. I can’t wait to get out of here and move to Davao. It’s on my mind everyday!

    Watching from BC, Canada…Nice to hear your views about moving back to Philippines. I was 18 when I moved to Canada with my mom in 1983. My husband is not of Filipino descent, but agreed to spend part of our retirement days in Philippines. I plan to take early retirement and spend half a year there and half a year here in Canada starting 2025. Just like you guys, I will have to adjust with the climate and culture just like when I moved here; but what worries me is the medical system in Philippines because I now have hypertension and relatives or friends who may want to borrow money. My mom used to say, when relatives borrowed money, don’t expect it would be paid back. It’s “lista sa yelo” 😆. God bless you all.

    • @snarveien1853

      Live a bit away from your relatives, esp the toxic ones. I think most people who grew up in the west, they find it hard to say No. Also, there are relatives who will feel betrayed if you do not let them borrow money. So living away from them is the answer.
      Hypertension is a common problem in Philippines, so even a public healthcare can easily help you with that. Public health care in the Philippines, usually falls under local government. Thus, the big public health care disparity among cities and towns. Some cities, like Davao and Makati, have good Public health care programs for senior and kids. Seniors often gets free medicine from the government for common illnesses such as hypertension and diabetes. Make sure to get your senior citizen card when you reach the age. Ofc, as someone who have money, just get a private health insurance. For senior, get unlimited check ups in companies like Maxicare, and get private hospitalization health insurance in companies like Pacific Cross. You do not need to have very expensive package, as long as you do not end up in Makati Med or St. Lukes.
      I recommend to live in areas near Metro Manila, Davao, Clark and Cebu City, for easy access to top notch private hospitals and specialized public national hospitals, in case you go over your insurance limit in private hospital. I have been living in Norway and had talked with my friend from Canada, who have been retired in Philippines, Philippines is better in preventive whilst Norway and Canada are good when you are really in dying mode. lol

    From Norway here. My family doctor often tells me that Norway offers high standard of living but low quality of life. Hence, so many depressed and sad people.
    So if someone have figured out the health care system and culture of Filipinos, people can easily have both high standard of living and high quality of life.
    Make sure to live in a communities developed by Ayala, Megaworld or Villar group, because they do not only develop gated communities, they also often develop the surrounding into like a small and organized city.
    When I was living in Nuvali in Laguna, the standard of living was high, which is higher than what I have in Oslo, Norway, especially when I had the best health insurance back then. I remember not locking our doors in Nuvali Laguna.
    I always felt like living in Norway, or maybe Canada, is like a scam for above middle income Filipinos. lol. I felt scammed.

    • @paengguin9381

      Yup, when you have money, you have more options. I would not say the Philippines is the best choice, it is up to individuals to live where they are happiest. I know many retired Filipinos who prefer the US because they cannot stand the inconvenience, weather in the Philippines and the different culture of the new generations of Filipinos. They only take vacations to the Philippines and other countries but won't live permanently in the Phippines. Life is good in US once debt-free and retiree has healthy retirement accounts and other monthly income streams for life.

    • @sandan778
      @sandan778 2 роки тому +1

      @@paengguin9381 Do not compare bananas to apples, they both are different. America is truly the best country in the world, its government works for the majority. Laws treat the rich and poor equally( sometimes not so). Healthcare is the best, doctors do not easily give up on you. If you are sick with a certain rare disease doctors will find ways to cure or keep you alive unlike in the Philippines where doctors will say sorry but you are so unlucky in life and that's it. Doctors in the States or the West are of very different mentality, their train of thought will be there must be some treatment/ cure somewhere and they will find ways to refer you there. No matter how advance the States though compared to the Philippines, the Philippines offers a different kind of lifestyle, more carefree, like you can sing to the top of your voice at night without your neighbor reporting you to the police or your neighbors coming to knock on your door and stop your singing party. Filipinos are so tolerant to other people unlike in the States you make a little mistake and it becomes a very big issue because everyone will know about your little mistake. The States is very intolerant to little faults while the Philippines is the opposite and that is the reason the States is very advance in development.

    • @paengguin9381
      @paengguin9381 2 роки тому +1

      @@sandan778 I totally agree with you about the US that is why I retired in US. Lifestyle is so carefree in the Philippines that they become complacent and inefficient. Without discipline, law and order, I would not live there permanently. Things are changing as Philippines is now a developing country, Filipinos can no longer sing loudly past 10PM in most parts of the country and neighbors will report you to the barangay captain or police. They have laws now against noise pollution and fireworks when Duterte became President. As Philippines become more developed, laws will be more strict and will be implemented more. People work different shifts and are busy in US that is why they do not like noise so they can sleep and work. Depends on where you live in US, in our neighborhood in California, on weekends(starting Friday night), we can have loud parties up to 2AM without neighbors knocking or calling cops. Well, Southern California is pretty laid back that is why I retired here, and our Healthcare is advanced like rest of US. My family only vacation in the Philippines for 2-3 weeks every 2-3 years, we will not live there permanently.

    If your reason for coming back to the Philippines is to live a life without so much stress, then do it as long as you are happy and content with it. And if your reason is to look for opportunities, that is also a great option, because this is the best time to invest in the country if you already have enough capital. Because right now the economy is growing fast, 10-20 years from now the lifestyle in this country might be comparable to that of Korea, so yeah, as early as today, it is a very good option to find opportunities in the Philippines. In fact, many foreign nationals are looking forward to investing here; they are just waiting for the charter change that will allow them to own businesses 100%; the Comelec says the voting for the panel that will amend the constitution will be mid of this year. So yeah we should be very optimistic about the future of the Philippines.

    Good advise from the women answering the questions. I do worry about the “ using for money “ advise. But they said you must be careful, learn to adjust to the culture and be careful with people and money. My understanding is if they think you from the west people will try to take advantage of you monetarily because they feel you are “ rich. “ But I am happy for anyone who follows their dream. Life in the west is becoming more problematic for the entrepreneur. If you can persue your dream else where with less hassle and a more fulfilled life, I say do it. I am glad that are sitting in a business that one of your friends owns and feels a sense of accomplishment and a possibility for a “ fuller “ experience.

We would never discourage anyone from leaving Php. What advice would you give to someone who wants to take the big leap and bring his family with two young boys over there? My wife is half Filipina, her mom is full Filipina and lives in the US after retiring from the military. I know my wife wouldn't hesitate if her mom and sister were to move there, but her mom is mostly concerned about traffic and crime. My impression is that it is no different than any place in the US that experiences crime and traffic. I see more pros than cons to going to the Philippines.

    I think in the States and Canada, it is always drive drive drive and you become a coach potato because after work you have no energy for anything else, your body starts getting bloated as you get old. In the Philippines it is walk walk walk which gives you some exercise even though it was not intended to be. Walking becomes a daily thing of life compared to just watching TV or playing with your computer. As we get old we get lazy driving so we just stay home and either eat and eat more, watch TV or play on the computer. Every 6 months or every year then you go for vacation but you feel always in a rush so you can buy the next best computer or telephone or whatever gadget there is in the market. Work is always a stress in the west because you have this feeling of being watched by everyone. You feel like even the walls have eyes looking at you at work...LOL...

    You worked in Canada saved money bought real-estate and made a huge amount of profit
    So Canada was not all that bad to you ,,,

      Exactly and now they sound ungrateful to Canada, the country that gave them the opportunity to make money and gain knowledge or experience to start a business or investing in the Philippines. In the first placed they moved to Canada as there are less opportunity for them in the Philippines and now they have the means it seems they dumped Canada. I am Filipino Canadian as well and retired I love both Canada and the Philippines. I do not have the entrepreneurial acumen of these people here, so. Philippines is now just for visiting and see relatives and see more countries the beautiful world has to offer but I will never forget Canada who helped me achieve what i want to do in life. There is only one caveat, i hate winter now in Canada, too long and too cold and as as an old fart it and born in the warm or rather hot part of the world the bitter cold seeps inside of me. When i was younger I do not mind the Canadian winters.

      Bro, I don’t get that sense at all. They’re following their dreams, it’s not all about how much you can make in a country.

      @@kuluwawa maybe you do not sense it. But some people do noticed it like Williiam Dawes and I. They have not even mentioned that they were grateful to Canada if my memory serves me right. But perception is there. Maybe they totally forget about due to their excitement with the interviews. People have different interpretations but we can agree to disagree as this only a conversation.

      Hi we did not dump Canada, we love Canada which gave us all the opportunities in life. Lani still has a business and paying taxes in CA which help pay infrastructure, parks, health care, ppl on welfare and so on... we are merely living the lives we want to live while pursuing our dreams in our own terms here in the Ph at an early age. Thank you for the comment

      @@oursimpleandextraordinarylife Please this tax thing is getting long in the tooth. Stop mentioning the above. As Canadian we have to file income tax unless you declared yourself not resident Canada anymore for tax purposes. I am Canadian and i pay my taxes too but i will not be defensive about who helps my tax. Again you people have guts to start afresh in the Philippines as it help our economy there and you have to pursue your dream. I admire you for that. The point is if my memory serves me right no one even mentioned how grateful they are to Canada. It looks like and you all sounds like ungrateful sods as per the first commenter and so am I.

    Amen. Ask for God's wisdom and guidance. Life is short. Life is not about work, work, work, work or enjoy, enjoy, enjoy either... everything should be balance. Physical, socially , mentally and spiritually.. We are created to enjoy life but balance. But most importantly have a personal relationship with God. Be sure you have the Salvation through Christ, a gift from God.

      the fact that they’re “still Pinoy” doesn’t diminish the fact that it’s still hard adjusting to their culture/country of origin.
      And yo, they left the Philippines at 7 y/o so that should be pretty self explanatory. They were raised in an environment and culture that’s largely different from that of the Philippines.
