- Charlie Curnow could do no wrong in a career-best night, toying with West Coast and kicking nine goals to spearhead the Blues' 108-point win at Optus Stadium.
The athletic key forward kicked his goals from all angles and dominated four different opponents as the Blues made a statement in the west, winning 23.14 (152) to 6.8 (44) in a ruthless performance.

Some footy fans are a hoot. Expecting a lot from a team that is missing 17 players, and up against a side that has two Coleman medalists, the most recent Brownlow winner, and star players around the field. It's gonna be a rough season unfortunately.
It's not like they had 14 players and asked to borrow a few to make a game of it. They are highly paid professional athletes. Come on now
i agree but they still should’ve put up more of a fight. we beat them incredibly easily with a few players back from injury themselves. 24 points at 3 quarter time is just terrible, even for a side who are injury struck.
The 'injured players' excuse can only work for so long. The WAFL side of west coast are just as bad at playing, and they dont have any injuries (that ik of)

@@Royal__Kitsune the WAFL side which is missing a large number of players because they're in the main side filling in for injuries you numpty. We are literally bringing players back from retirement to fill in for the WAFL because of the injury woes.
Even as an Eagles fan our club has been run so poorly the last few seasons. We only have ourselves to blame for resigning such injury prone players every year. Also there's no talent coming through either considering the WAFL side lost to West Perth 217-48 last week.
It's funny how the crowd thins out after half time then again after 3 quarter time 😂

The talent is there but the trend in the AFL is to only draft baseball height players. Plenty of 6ft and under players that could run circles around these so called 'athletes' in the VFL, SanFL and WAFL.
Have watched AFL over the years here in California. It's not carried on the cable service and I miss watching, nice win Carlton from a yank!
The bad news is that the Eagles are at the bottom of the AFL ladder. The good news is that they will win their 5 th flag before Freo win their first.

Wow, I didn't see this coming and I don't think many of us saw this coming either. Charlie Curnow's 9 goals broke the record for the most goals in a game by any player at Optus Stadium. Sadly for West Coast, he was playing for Carlton. He could've had 10, but he was humble about it. Can the Eagles catch a break? Are Carlton back? Will Adam Simpson get sacked?
Carlton still have to learn how to score against a well organised and disciplined team as with St. Kilda last week. Otherwise they won't fair well in September.
