I think the part that says "all obscurity will flee from you" is mistranslated. I think it should be something like all corruption or defilement will flee from you. You do not become enlightened upon ingesting the elixir but it does purge all defilement and corruption from the body
In my opinion it means that once you grasp the relationship between your mind and the world without you begin to see the cause for every effect that’s presented in your experience; hence lifting the obscurity or ostensibly random nature of events.
