Addendum: Firstly a thanks to Tweak who supplied images of their IIDX 8th style cabinet! And so sorry I missed you out on the credits screen 🤦♂ Secondly, I made a mistake with DDR Solo's networking. I said it uses a ring topology like you'd get in a token ring network (similar to what Sega used for the model series and the Naomi) - This isn't correct, it's actually a multidrop bus more like how the JVS port works with RS485. (Thanks to Hydreigon for pointing this out).
I need more Konami / bemani arcade UA-cam content injected into my veins. I love bemani so much I paid $500 for a “if you were here with me” dancemaia vinyl 😂🥴 Love your videos, keep up the amazing work homie
What an incredible journey and amazing video. Been working with 573 for some time now for our barcade, and this truly opens up my knowledge to maybe try to fix some broken systems I have laying around. Great to know all in all.
This video is such a wealth of knowledge - thank you for making it and for your contributions to making the open source schematics and SDK! Those will undoubtedly be instrumental in maintaining these machines and preserving such an important portion of gaming history.
I have been working on 573’s for a very long time. I recently got one for my red japanese DDR cabinet. And i owned a ddr cabinet about a decade ago. This is incredibly well done and incredibly thorough. Well done.
You and I both know that I don't know anything about the subject of the video, so to please the alghorithm gods I just wanna say I think you are doing the lord's work by including full lists of timestamps and music in the description. Although butt day was a fun bit of trivia. :) Edit: I have just reached the end of the video and I am appalled by the fact that you did not credit me for letting you borrow my car to get your arcade cab footage.
The idea of making an arcade cabinet based on the first PlayStation is intriguing, did not know that. But yeah, not surprising that it was not used much, since the PSX graphics looked dated quite soon after it was released.
@@NaokisRC I remember that Soul Blade / Soul Edge was on PSX, but from what I remember Soul Calibur was released on Naomi / Dreamcast only (and then more modern machines after that)
Somehow arcade systems based on PlayStation felt like the best for me. You can see IIDX, DDR in it's past using it, and the PS2 to PS3 era with Tekken 4(if Im correct?) to its T6 days Just shows how really impressive the PS was.
Wow that was amazing so much I didn't know, so well put together , so intriguing and then you went and unlocked some deep suppressed nightmares 'getting ATAPI Drivers working under HP/UX and True64' ughh shudder
HELLO, I HAVE A PUNCH MANIA FOR THAT SYSTEM, BUT I REQUIRE THE FILE FOR THE RTC TIMEKEEPER CHIP, DO YOU KNOW WHAT THAT FILE IS? THANK YOU VERY MUCH, GREETINGS.
What cd Roms are compatible with system 573 fisherman’s bait 2? The one in it is CHM-56 S. I can find one that is CHM-56. No S what does the S stand for?
I had to come back to this video to say this. Somehow we're all sorta wrong about those arcade games not being able to run on a real PS1 or rather PS1 emulator. I was messing around with the app that runs Simpsons Bowling on the Simpsons Arcade1up cabinet and its running a Baby Phoenix game with Duckstation. A Konami game made for their arcade hardware running on what is seemingly a simple PS1 emulator, something that should be completely impossible in the first place just like the Wipeout port to the 573 you showcased.
The thing is, most of the retail based PSX arcade systems such as the 573, Phoenix run games and the games and even the “BIOS” as PSX apps, Im actually trying to make a retail PSX run 573 stuff since it is theoretically possible, provided they dont need IO like the digital IO
@@GUCFan i think retooling an emulator like DuckStation to run PSX-based arcade board games would absolutely be possible, especially since modified versions of RPCS3 already support Namco’s PS3-based arcade board games
SpicyJPEG has WipeOut running on a DDR cab, is that not enough? But in seriousness, it depends per game. It's possible but not a trivial task, wipeout was chosen because sourcecode is available for it.
The PSX was used in a load of games however. Tekken and Soul Caliber come to mind
@@NaokisRC I remember that Soul Blade / Soul Edge was on PSX, but from what I remember Soul Calibur was released on Naomi / Dreamcast only (and then more modern machines after that)
Soul Caliber ran on System 11 if I'm not mistaken, so it would have been ported from PSX hardware.

For once, a video game examined from the inside.
Why am I somehow not surprised Konami used a slightly upgraded psx?
They loved the PSX hardware, even IIDX got its start with it.
This is an incredible video ! Are there any games/bios patched for sata/compaq flash loading available ?
Not as of yet. It would require making per game patches aswell.
