Jaque Coustaue wonderful tv of my childhood, (not whats my line)and not widely know in this time except Bennett the publisher about his book . interesting that nobody thought the sea worth exploring and no pickup to the lead about boats to inner space taking second place to outer space (much as today) thanks Marcus really interesting upload. Shame he had to walk of anonymously like that.

He didn't. The host told them is name. That's how Cerf knew about the book and film

Imagine that they didn’t recognise Jacques Cousteau!! Incredible.

NOT incredible if you know how history evolves and how people become famous, before and after.

@@enriquesanchez2001 He was already well known by then, to those whose bookcases were not limited, that is.

He was not a part of the movies and theater land, which, to judge by their questions to the contestants, was, for the most part, the extent of their knowledge.

William Bendix was more a dramatic/character actor than a 'comedian'

Ah but his RADIO SHOW - was a true display of his comedic talents! That was a "REVOLTIN' DEVELOPMENT"!

I like William Bendix very much, he was so talented. I am surprised they didn't recognize his voice though because he was not doing too well at disguising it.

Interesting that Dorothy and Bennett were educated and supposedly well travel people, yet, they didn't know Jacques Cousteau. Their ignorance of him is stunning. Not wonder he and John were amused.
