    I am so sorry about your straps this is actually WHY Louis Vuitton has changed those hard wear points they are not oval anymore they are square. Great review!! Thank you!!

    I know what you're saying, Coach does make some very substantial & nice leather bags. I love my Alexandra and it is just an easy to use, carefree bag. Something to be said for that. Thanks for watching!

    I just noticed the same thing on my bag tonight and found your video that has the same exact issue as yours. I was just like you and ticked off that I paid so much for a bag and this happened. I don't over stuff my bag either. Thank you for the review. I will be contacting Louis Vuitton to see what they can do about it.

      Prettypolkadots Question to both! Is it the light colored leather or dark? I buy dark LVs because it seems the lighter leather is untreated and thus softer. I had a Keepall for 30 years that endured EVERYTHING a bag could, and never had an issue with the handles. Positively have it serviced, it won't cost much.

    Yeah, I agree that it is really the placement that makes it an issue... I guess the other thing that I left out too - is that I moved in the time between when I bought it & when I noticed the tear... so I would be comfortable going into my old store in MI - but I don't have an SA over here in IL or even a store I like frequenting... so I think that is part of why I haven't taken it in. I may have to make a point to go see what they can do though in the next few weeks. Thanks for watching!

    Thanks for letting me know your experience! It is good to know that the style can stand up to that kind of use, it seems like it *should* be able to... because of its design! I may have to find a store near where we live now to take it in and talk to them about it, unfortunately I no longer live near my "home" store, the one where I bought this. :( Thanks for watching!

    I always look forward to your videos! They are packed full of great info and we get to see beautiful bags. Just bought my first LV :)

    I've heard about the cracking issues with the NF, sorry your had to deal with that! :( I agree it is disappointing, because you go into buying an LV bag thinking that maintenance won't be an issue... but that NF problem was one that a lot of people had actually. Hope you can get it fixed in the future! Thanks for watching!

    @bagobeans 12 років тому

    I can't believe you took the time to respond. I was just talking about the leather on your bag. Just that one bag. Not all the LV bags. I know leather, and sometimes leather dries out and cracks or falls apart. I actually had a speedy where the leather cracked and pulled apart. I took it back and they exchanged it. You never know what condition the leather is going to be in when you buy the bag. I even had a Coach leather bag fall apart. So any bag can be faulty. Depends on the leather.

    I agree I'm pretty laid back... I probably would have taken this into the store I consider my "home store" that I either know or recognize the SAs (well, did when we lived there still anyways) - we moved inbetween the time that I bought this & when I found the leather imperfection... I don't have a SA or even a particular store in the Chicago area that I prefer to frequent, so I think that is part of what has held me back from going in. I might take it in to the store I've been to the most. Tks!

    Thanks, I may contact them and see what it would take for them to fix it. If I totally have to get the straps replaced, I'll probably wait until next summer because I won't be using it this winter really anyways... Thanks for watching though! :)

    I have a totally gm which I'm sure I've overloaded at times and I have not had issues with the leather on the straps tearing. The handles have thinned a bit from use as expected but overall the bag has held up very well! I believe I have had my totally for about 2.5 years and it was used a decent amount during that time. Sorry t hear that you had bad luck with the bag. I hope that when you make it to LV they can help you out!

    My neverfull GM in the damier ebene print had cracks on all four handles after one year of use. The cracks were on the each side of the base of the handle near the bag. I am a student and I do put my laptop in it. It's disappointing that they advertise that the handles can withstand up to 250 pounds each but in the end it cracks. I don't know of it was specifically the damier ebene painted handles but I expected to carry that handbag the rest of my life. In order to replace the handles it costs

    Honestly, this has been in the back of my mind - and without going so far as to declare it 100% for all bags, it does make me wonder why I've never had an issue with some of my older bags, and my newer ones make me nervous. Just hoping I never have an issue with my Lumi, because then I'll be more than annoyed, lol! Thanks for watching!

  • @Bags4Bubbles
    @Bags4Bubbles  12 років тому

    Thanks! I will have to figure out which store to take it to, since I don't live near the store where I purchased this from any longer. :( I wouldn't totally sway away from this style, because other than the issue I had with it - it was a really great style functionality wise... I definitely would think twice before really over loading it though. I seriously don't put too heavy things in my bags, so definitely makes you wonder how much they are "supposed" to hold, if that makes sense.

  • @treistay
    @treistay 11 років тому

    I've been using mine (GM size) for 3 years, nothing wrong and still holding nicely! Sorry to hear yours one has got leather problems. You should take it back to LV ....

    Hi Di,
    I think you should return your Totally to have LV look at it. Its just good enough that this has happened to the strap. I was seriously considering purchasing the GM - but now l would be scared to load it up - same strap capacity in terms of strap thickness etc on all Totally's - PM,MM or GM. :(

  • @Bags4Bubbles
    @Bags4Bubbles  12 років тому

    I don't know that I couldn't, I just really would prefer not to carry anything "heavy" in it and honestly since i noticed this - I haven't used it at all. I think a Totally should have been able to handle a magazine in addition to every day use items, so that is why I'm leaning towards this was just a fluke/bad luck issue on my part. I've never heard of anyone having this type of thing happen with them. Same thing with the jeans transfer for me, but it doesn't bother me.

  • @Bags4Bubbles
    @Bags4Bubbles  12 років тому

    Hi! First off, this is a wear & tear review - so I've tried to give an accurate representation of any W&T issues with the bag, like all of the other videos in the W&T series. That's the point of them, not to really be a review of the style or function. Secondly, I actually did not use this for anything other than personal items (as show in What's in my Bag) & for a magazine, boarding pass, etc for traveling. DH carries our tech items in his laptop backpack & the kids have their own diaper bag...

  • @Bags4Bubbles
    @Bags4Bubbles  12 років тому

    I try to respond to everyone that leaves a comment when possible. :) I would love to get to a store at some point, with a toddler & infant - and full schedule with activities to get to (swim class, play groups, etc.) for them every day, I haven't been to a store in months... It is a substantial drive to get to one compared to where I used to live, I used to be about 10 minutes from a store in MI. The stores here unfortunately are not as convenient to get to as where I used to live. :(

    It worries me that the newer LV bags aren't as up to par as it used to several years back... And it just got my 1st : l

  • @Bags4Bubbles
    @Bags4Bubbles  12 років тому

    Thanks for watching! I wouldn't totally sway away from getting the Totally because of this wear & tear issue, because think this was a rare issue with mine... where as the NF has had some pretty well known issues with their handles in the past - but those are supposed to be fixed now, I believe. The Neverfull always made me nervous because of the totally open top, so I prefer the style of the Totally with the zipper - but of course with the issue with this particular bag, I don't really know!

  • @Bags4Bubbles
    @Bags4Bubbles  12 років тому

    (continued)... So my purses really are used just for purses, they contain just my personal items - even when traveling. While I did have an unfornuate experience with this particular purse, I believe it was just a material flaw & not a widespread issue - I've overall had very good luck with LV bags... which is why I've continued to buy them. I moved within the past year & now live 6 hours away from my "home" store like I mentioned below - I hoping to go to a store here soon. Thanks for watching!

  • @Bags4Bubbles
    @Bags4Bubbles  12 років тому

    I don't really do anything to mine, but you could try clipping them down into place (with something that doesn't have teeth) to help them straighten out. Kind of like the idea of placing a book on a rug that has a fold in it... to just smooth them out. HTH! :)

    Ughhhh!!!! I just saw this video. Background on my LVs: I've had a Bandouliere Keepall 60 for almost 20 years now. That bag has been put through the ringer. I travel with it all the time. It's been shoved, squeezed into (and then ripped out of) airplane compartments, many accidental spills on it, and a sweet little pug puppy even graced that bag with his pee. Basically what I'm saying is that bag is a work horse, as (IMO) all LV (travel/totes) should be. That bag, I call her "Rita" gets it done. My Rita rocks. I always spied/eyed "Rita's" accomplice. It was the Totally (GM). Long story short, when I had the cash to flat out buy the Totally GM, they disco'd it!!! Of course they did when i could afford to buy my "dream bag" in cash. I was so pissed. So I set out on finding my damn Totally GM. I FINALLY find a Totally GM from a very very reputable dealer (she actually contacted me to let me know they had one). So I buy it, it's awesome...but then I start seeing the straps look week, at the seam, at O ring. I was (still am) p*ssed. I know my dream bag (that I've been hunting for at least 7 years) doesn't have a strap flaw?!? But mine does. Makes me not even want to carry the bag. But then I think, I have my OG Keepall with zero strap issues. If any bag (in my collection) should've had them, it would be that keepall OG. It would also have been my OG Cabas Mezzo. Nothing wrong with any straps on those bags. But as soon as i buy my "dream bag", the straps start breaking at the edge of the seam at the O ring.It's like one strap just gives up on life and decides to start fraying at the seam for no reason. My Totally GM strap seam is way over dramatic, and way under performing compared to the Louis Vuitton brand. Open letter to the LV big wigs....Dude/Dudettes... Y'all rock with the luggage. Y'all rock with the shoes. (I'm speaking of only leather goods here). Fix the issue with the Totally's straps. Please and thank you.
    First world problems. l00%. BUT, LV makes bags for a reason. There's a reason people pay $xxx for that brand of luggage/totes. It's because I can still lug my OG travel, 60 keepall, whatsitsface big bag around, like a champ for the last 20 years. Now I finally have this bag I've always dreamed about, that may or not been built as workhorse bags. All LV's in my opinion, are built to LAST.Except for my dream bag. Meh. Oh well.
    Girls, if it feels right, take it. If you're like me, and have to buy the one piece that was missing in your life, just go for it.

    One of the handles on my Totally started to tear away from the oval brass ring as well (I've had mine for 2 years). It actually ripped to the point where it was hanging on by a shoestring. I took it to the local shoe/luggage repair and they told me they could fix it for $15 which was a pleasant surprise. But I wanted to first see what LV would say. I took my bag to the San Diego store, fully expecting them to tell me that they wouldn't repair it.. or that it would cost me $$ to repair. But what a shock! They simply said they could take care of it for me.....I didn't even have to fight for it. That must mean this is a known issue and that I'm not the first one. I should be getting my bag back in 3-4 weeks. So...while I was at the store, I went ahead and purchased a new bag I've had my eye on!

    Hi, I'm really interested in purchasing a Louis Vuitton Totally MM but after seeing your wear and tear video, I'm second guessing getting this particular style. I know you asked if anyone else had run into this problem and I was curious if you had any response? I would greatly appreciate your comments and also if you ever contacted Louis Vuitton or decided to continue not using your bag? Thanks so much for your videos, they are very informative and helpful!

    That's the shame what happened to the strap. I would definitely contact Louis Vuitton, they could probably send it out and have the straps replaced with new vachetta straps (granted it may cost somewhere around $100 to have them replaced).

  • @TheOrganiclady
    @TheOrganiclady 12 років тому

    I think that you are probably a very easy going type of person, who doesn't let too many things get the best of her. Now, that being said...(this is just another opinion) you should really bring this bag back to the LV shop you do most of your purchasing from & insist that they replace the strap. Don't get upset or anything but be assertive.You could ask to speak to the manager and if that gets you nowhere, you could email them and state your case. I think they will be fair & do the right thing.

    Hello!
    Thank You this review was very helpful.I own the Totally GM in Monogram print and it was actually my first louis vuitton.I had issues with the bag as well.I no longer carry it either,I'm not rough with my bags .The wear and tear on this bag seems like it isnt LV quality in my opinion.I'm wondering if thats why they have discontinued the GM size,I only carried it for a year .Now im carrying the Tivoli Gm and this bag looks as good as the day i bought it and almost a year old.

    Hmm I like LV but I am starting to think the brand is overrated. I know people talk about Coach like it's a starter designer brand or about how they think Coach is more for the youth. I honestly think Coach's quality is better than LV, I've never had a Coach bag tear on me like that. Also they have a lifetime warranty on all their items. I just feel like for the price you pay with LV they should have a lifetime warranty as well.

So you can't carry heavy things in this bag anymore? not good.I have the same purse in pm size my straps are fine(been using this bag alot for last 2 years) but i notice that it's tuning blue on the corners(maybe it's from my jeans) kind of annoying lol, but still it's a great summer purse:)

    The leather is tearing because of the stress on the leather. strap. I think it has to do more with how you carry it. Leather dries out and the constant pull weakens the leather. I don't believe you just carried a wallet and a magazine. Rather then complain about it, go to the LV store you bought it from and see what can be done, if anything. I am sure they will fix it for you. It may cost you, but you will be happy in the long run. Use your common sense, don't complain about it on a video. :(
