Honestly, as a core of the army it seems perfect. All you really gotta grab afterwards is a second Character and some transports and youll be golden, not even talking about the rest of the awesome EC specific kits they revealed.
Hopefully they'll do what they did with the Night Lords and Bl/Dangels and release an upgrade kit for standard legionaries if you want to expand a little more or do themed armies. I've been waiting for EC to be a real army since 1994, I think I can wait a little longer for said sprues.
@steweygrrr honestly yeah, this is really the first legion troop I reckon they could get away with that with. If not, I'm sure a box of Legionaries would mix very well with the EC guys for variety anyway.
My plan is to buy that box fucking ASAP, get the noise marine charecter, build one of each infantry unit and split the infiltrate guys into units of 5. I've already got 2 daemon engines and can proxy vashtorr as a daemon prince. (Not to mentioned 1.4k of slaanesh)

Honestly, my biggest concern is that everything showed off at the preview is going to be the entire range. Don’t get me wrong, everything looked fantastic, it just wasn’t a lot. No terminators? No sorcerers? No human cultists? They could even have had their own take on Hellbrutes with a new sonic dreadnought. TS, WE and hopefully EC all need to be brought up to the same standard as DG.
What did you expect? It was always gonna be similar to world esters and we got everything from the rumours. Don’t set yourself up for disappointment by expecting too much
Originally when I started Warhammer I wanted to do the Slanesh army but Nurgle had more to choose from so I started with Nurgle instead but now that Slannesh is coming out I'm going to be finishing my Nurgle army this year and starting the next one because this time I really want to get them when they come out because I really just want to paint the whole thing Slannesh army. I'm tempted to do them all synthwave style

I cant wait for this box! My first warhammer book was about Fulgrim and his fall from grace and I've loved the legion ever since. Even if they end up not being good on the table i cant wait to play them.

I'm definitely gonna be picking up some Emperor's Children, I've been waiting years for some Slaanesh, but I'm not sure about picking up the box. If they swapped out one of the squads for a squad of Flawless Blades I would be more tempted. I'll probably end up picking up a few things when they release separately. I'm already working on a Slaanesh themed CSM army so it would be nice to add in some noise marines.
One thing I noticed is there are only 5 unique torso/legs in the regular troops. Unlike regular CSM and Beserkers who are all completely unique. So 20 of them you'll have 4 repeats of a single pose/body... You'll just be able to change weapons and head... Put a slight downer on it for me
Im personally picking up the Boxset, just to have some EC models on my greedy hands right as they drop. Though to have a more battle ready army, I have some termies to paint as well as Havocs with the old noise marine upgrade kit for Noise marines, and some possessed to act as proxy for the Flawless blades. Unsure about picking up the Combat Patrol since I feel like EC is going to be a very elite army with not too many units on the board, and if you've been playing CSM for a while or just have some basic marines with bolters or chainswords I doubt anyone is going to care all that much that you're using basic legionaries to proxy for the new EC battleline units.
Glad to hear you don’t need to mechanize the battleline like World Eaters do. My son and I also plan on using them to spice up the regular chaos marine battleline squads visually I do wonder if noise marines will have a transport capacity of 2 like Gravis marines, this limiting their ability to mechanize. I am trying to figure out general chaos auxiliaries to make a 2000 pointer. Like Bikes or Raptors or maybe just a couple of predator tanks

Assuming it's not an insane price, I can see it as an absolute win. I already have a pretty robust CSM army, so if all else fails I can borrow uses of pre-existing models that'll likely slot in without much issues. I also got Daemon slaanesh units I haven't used and a few resin Noise Marines, plus their special-edition one I'm dying to make a Lord Kakophanous at some point, allowing for an even easier time transitioning to a full EC setup.
Since other armies do all the "Eldar" things better they don't know how to write an Eldar dex. Tau and certain marines are faster. Almost every army gets more rerolls now. Eldar weapons have half the shots at 2/3 the range of other armies. They were really built around fate, and that was apparently too good, so now it's next to useless. They need more evasion. Dodge saves in the form of FNP. More hit mods. More flexible movement (swap move and shoot maybe?). All those things though make other players cry. We'll see what they did with it. I'm afraid it'll be like the Armored Warhost so we can pay CP just to get abilities other armies have built in.
I feel like the multi-build potential for both the troops and the lord saves the prospect of buying this plus a combat patrol as an army starter. Should be roughly 1100 points between the two, which isn't a half bad start to a new army for just under $400 USD. Now, I just really want to see a demon engine with Fury Road style giant speakers for the faction.
So in the Points in the Box section i would also say about 700 because If you take things from "normal" Csm then this would roughly be a 700 Points list
This is as good as I can realistically hope for from GW. It’s all new models and unique to the army so if you are going to build EC it seems genuinely useful and the combat patrol does exactly what GW wants it gives you battleline and multiple generic HQ.
I wanted Emperors Children as my Chaos faction decades ago! I have the old Lucius in metal and a couple of old marine squads, but that's about all there was back then. These new models are Lucious (see what I did there 😉😄)
I think it's an excellent army box to build with. While I initially wasn't really interested in the faction, these reveals have certainly piqued my interest and I'm now considering getting my hands on them. I do have a fancy Keeper of Secrets on my shelf, could be a good reason to get to use it.

Even before discounts, cause most I know of offer a discount even on launch boxes, its a good deal. 35 for most ICs 62.50 for Havocs, aka Noise Marines 65 for General troops 60 for normal Codex 25 or 35 for datasheet cards, havnt bought in a while so cant remember EXACTLY so anywhere from 375 to 385 USD, and its selling for 230? Means a minimum savings of 145 and max of 155 USD, so anywhere between a 37 and 40% discount.
If I didn't have a 3d printer this seems like a good deal. 2 boxed of dual build battleline units, 12 elite infantry, and the character seem like a nice mix, and adding the combat patrol on top of it still seems fantastic even with 30 battleline Assuming it's at the 230usd price point I could see getting this, with how obsolete balance updates make codexes it makes it feel a little pointless but that cover looks fantastic
I think I know what will happen to be'lakor it's possible he gets put in the basic chaos space marine codex and thus meaning he works alongside all of chaos while also being chaos undivided
It’s a great deal, imo. This + the Combat Patrol gives you a really amazing start to the army. Can’t wait to see how they push the army further in 11th!
Personally a 7/10 box which is a lot better than most of the army boxes they've made. I'd have put it at an 8 or 9 if they had 1 more character, a Kakophonist or Lucius would have rounded out the box perfectly

I bet it will be released before Adepticon (March 26th), so between March 15th or 22nd, because surely in this event they will announce the Space Wolves and I think they will want the ECs to be released before the next announcement, or at least this one It's my theory.
If its in the £130-150 range it may be a good buy. Probably gonna end up being 50ish for a box and 25/30 for the character after release. Probably going to be impossible to preorder though seems people are salavating like crazy over it.
Yes and no Think of it like this, we got a custom baseline of units, and a daemon primarch, would you rather another big tank but no infractors? Or infractors and a bunch of daemon engines and tanks? Because you forget we have like 4 daemon engines and tanks

It ain't bad at all if you want all of it, which you most probably do since this is a faction's release. Pretty good, as far as 40k goes. Plus the fact those look heretical as hell and as degenerate as it goes for marine bodies, which is absolutely on point and really good.
Yup. Just looked at the store order form. The release is pathetic. No box, no combat patrol. Exactly 1 new character and a bunch of resculpted reduxes. No more info on the codex (sold only as a standalone). Pretty sure Eldar got the "B" team treatment and were launched briefly between imperial and marine forces that got all the attention.
@Swampert919 maybe but its still a possibility we get the EC launch box early in like February tho i cant recall the last time theyve dropped two codexs at once besides maybe a battle box of custodes vs genestealers or thousand sons

TBH this is not the direction I thought EC would go. I like Fulgrim, but the rest of the range is not for me. I am looking forward to what Thousand Sons will add, if anything.

If Noise Marines are going to be in units of 6 no more no less, a box with 2 of the max 3 youll be able to field seems worth it to me.

Hoping for a terminator or vehicle unit, love the noise marines but I think they're imaginatively tame compared to second edition design's.

Well since I have two other 40k armies and two AOS I'm going to slow burn EC get this box and the combat patrol down the road. I guarantee that fulgrim is gonna get a Christmas battle force box

Pretty good, as far as 40k goes.
Plus the fact those look heretical as hell and as degenerate as it goes for marine bodies, which is absolutely on point and really good.

Yup. Just looked at the store order form. The release is pathetic. No box, no combat patrol. Exactly 1 new character and a bunch of resculpted reduxes. No more info on the codex (sold only as a standalone). Pretty sure Eldar got the "B" team treatment and were launched briefly between imperial and marine forces that got all the attention.
No doubt that this'll be sold out as soon as it comes!

Untrue! The starter sets and Custodes combat patrol are great.
@@LordCrate-du8zm the starter set is worse than leviathan was in every way. and the custodes starter set doesnt give a very good discount its only 27%. neither is particularly good compared to the boxes GW used to sell. GW keeps putting less models in boxes and charging more.
