    Great video sir. What would be helpful on all would be a middle ground. The initial breakdown is great. Then you go to a full execution. In between having a slow but continuous with call out of each move.

    A genuine question , what do you think works more effectively during a real fight, Katas/Karate or MMA?

    • @KaratePlaybook
      @KaratePlaybook  4 роки тому +4

      Great question. It really comes down to how you train your Karate. I'll say that in most cases MMA will win SIMPLY because they train to confront the emotional stress that you will face in a real fight, where "most" karateka train with lower intensity.
      On the flip side, karate (especially in Kata) teaches many techniques that MMA does not since they are illegal in the cage (ie. Attacks to eyes and such). Karate also teaches distancing and timing much better than most MMA.
      Of course these are all generalizations. Its all situational and often comes down to WHO'S WILLING TO TAKE ACTION FIRST (or commit the most).
      Hope this all makes sense.

    • @zommellemmoz3999
      @zommellemmoz3999 3 роки тому

      It is "irrelevant" just as much as the colour of your belt ~ MMA uses technique from all martial arts and you never see any form of the style the fighter claims to be doing. Kata is for quick & short encounters ...not long protracted fights. For fighting then will be how much of your karate is "in you", temprement, aggression and brain power. For kata and kumite then both can you switch from cool dude to a fighter immediately 😏 Keep well.

    • @KaratePlaybook
      @KaratePlaybook  4 роки тому +2

      Hey chorse70, your worries are completely common. Just know that there is a way for everyone to learn every kata. If you are unable to jump super high, just do the jump shorter with good technique. Personally l even teach that move with and without a jump. No need to worry, just keep practicing and you'll get there. Remember it is a lifelong journey, not a race to the next belt.... You got this!

    It’s been a year I started karate, and I was wondering how to apply some of the kata bunkai during kumite; is that even possible to apply those techniques while kumite or in real life?? Would you make a video over how to apply some of the important techniques of the katas in kumite? That would be really helpful 🙂

    • @KaratePlaybook
      @KaratePlaybook  4 роки тому +3

      Awesome suggestion, we actually just put up a poll in our community tab on UA-cam asking what types of videos everyone wants and "using Kata in Kumite" is an option. Great minds 😁

    • @zommellemmoz3999
      @zommellemmoz3999 3 роки тому +1

      Kata is for short & quick encounters as in self defence. The guy touches you or wants to punch and grabs ~ there may be an application from kata. This can happen in a crowded space. Kumite is for the longer fights and cannot take place in a crowded area...you need room to move ~then you need to know your karate, tech's must come automatic and you must switch between calm to aggresive fighter in the moment. 😎 keep well be vigilant be safe

    IDK if you ever read these comments anymore but I quit Shotokan for almost 2 years and just now getting back into it. This kata was horrible for me first time around and I failed my test doing it. Now that I'm back I'm having serious problems with it again. I absolutely hate this kata and I'm afraid of breaking my ankle doing the jump because I'm overweight and clumsy.

      @PMG it is great to know different kata, just make sure you don't become a 'collector' instead of a 'perfector'. It is really easy to fall into that habit at your rank. Keep up the hard work and Happy Training.

    When he does the full kata why is he breathing so loud? The ibuki breath is fine but when striking he is make a breathing noise??? Wierd

    • @KaratePlaybook
      @KaratePlaybook  4 роки тому +4

      I appreciate the question and we quite often see things that are different from what we have learned as weird. As for why we breathe audibly, we use sharp, dynamic breathing during motion because the fast expulsion of air from you lower diaphragm forces contraction in you lower core. This allows for better Kime, since the whole body locks all at once and for good timing. This type of breath causes the breathing sound you hear.
      Just out of curiosity, what is your primary style? (I ask only because I know that various styles have different approaches to breathing).

    The Rhythm of the Kata in the end is wrong lol

    • @KaratePlaybook
      @KaratePlaybook  4 роки тому

      All depends on who is teaching it and what the implied application is. The rhythm is only wrong if it does not watch the intent.
