WHO ELSE LOVES RE-MAY-KE MONTH?!?!
Forget the movies, I just want my banana. 🍌
Can you do the ORIGINAL “Fame” and “Footloose” and not the remakes?
„Do you wanna know more?“ yes, I do
👈This Guy
If you're doing remakes you have to do The Blob from '88, it's a great movie and the practical effects for the blob are amazing.
The sitcom applause when your daughter showed up: PERFECT!
It was like Kramer just entered the room!
It's a good thing she walked in when she did compared to other parts of this movie
That really made me laugh
@@SirRobinBP
Nah, little kids love The Fly.
@@shawbros Yeah, I did! It was the 80s!
This is one of Cronenberg's best movie.
Cronenberg is the master of 'body horror' and this film really illustrates the concept.
The movie is more 'horrifying' than horrible. It's the physical decay of Seth that is truly horrifying.
At first, many critics speculated that the movie was an allegory for AIDS which at that time had become widly known after the death of Rock Hudson, but no, he said it was about old age and how the physical and mental decay of our loved ones getting old affects us.
The team for the make up and fly animatronic got a very, very, VERY well deserved Oscar for best make up.
Even almost 40 years later it's grossly impressive.
But what makes the movie so good and resonating with the public is the touching love story which makes the events unfold all the more heartbreaking.
For me, it’s a toss-up between this movie and Videodrome. They’re both very, very good.
Imagine if you could time travel to a 1950s movie theatre and show them this version of the "Fly".
The theatre might be burned down.
Why would I want to imagine people from the 50's forming a mob and murdering me?
They would flip their shit and run out of the theater. On that note they should re release it in theaters today. I would love for this generation to get a taste of real moviemaking.
Imagine showing them any film about the lgbqt movement... you'd get the biggest reaction. Wish I could they needed to be warned
@@thomasjefferson2676what do you mean "this generation" i was born in 80s and my generation is still very much alive and will be still too long. Apparently your generation is also still alive. If you mean z generation why dont you say z generation and not this generation
Cronenberg has said the film is analogous to having a progressive disease. As a person with MS, this really hits to the core. Having a disease that you know is only going to get worse. Also going through the 5 stages of grief. Shock, disbelief, anger, bargaining, acceptance.
That's a very good way to look at it. Thank you! Also a person with MS.
As a comments need to die

"Fusion of Brundle and fly at molecular-genetic level" is probably the best line that a computer has delivered in cinematic history.
“I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that”
"Crew Expendable"
Imagine that line delivered by HAL 3000
Absolutely *_LOVED_* the applause & cheers when your daughter popped out from the curtain, like a surprise guest star on a chat show or a sitcom! *_LOVE IT!_*
When the little one came in and the applause started I laughed my ass off. The fly is probably my favourite horror movie, they don't do body horror like this anymore.
@Chris Stewart from the master of body Horror himself David Cronenberg and the little one was so cute i really don't think she would stick around for the rest of the movie AHEM ... you and i both know why !! LOL! CHEERS.
Have you seen Annihilation? Slither? Tusk?
@@tylermiller5904 I haven't seen any of those yet but i will get around to it is TUSK the Kevin Smith directed Horror film ?
This film did relatively ok at the box office, but it's biggest pop culture impact was that it had one particular line in it that became one of the most revered and quoted in modern movie history: "Be afraid, be very afraid."
If only Seth Brundle could have been a fly on the wall for Jeff Goldblum's dialogue in _Jurassic Park._ He was a scientist who was so preoccupied with whether or not he could that he didn't stop to think if he should. 🪰
Both The Fly and Jurassic Park 2 contain unnecessary gymnastics.
mel brooks has done a lot of cool stuff in his life, but one of the best has to be helping to bring davd lynch and david cronenberg to mainstream audiences
Man, when she pulls his jaw off and then his head splits in half? Good times. Great reaction.
BTW, Cronenberg gave an interview and said during the test screenings the sequence most women screamed at was when she hugged him during his initial transformation.
As a parent, I relate so much to your daughter walking in during filming. I can't tell you how many virtual meetings my kids have decided to crash during the pandemic.
The cheer when your daughter pulled back the curtain was fantastic 🤣
Did you guys know they had to do the final transformation over because, the first time, the top piece didn't fall off the fly's head. So they had to reassemble the pieces that were to come apart in that scene. Incredible artists who did the makeup.
That 80s/90s sitcom applause for the little girl is one of the greatest touches on a reaction video I've ever seen
In the original movie we see what happens to the fly/human. Without being graphic it's quite horrific. Ends up caught in a web, fly body, human head (consciousness), with it screaming as the spider closes in. The original is a whole different movie.
34:38 **Bart's voice** You can watch the exact moment his heart breaks into pieces right here
Even though this is considered a horror/ sci-fi movie, I’ve always thought of it as a tragic love story. Jeff Goldblum deserved a Oscar for this imo. Check out the third great remake from the 80’s, The Blob.
Yeah, it's definitely a tragedy. The whole fly transformation is a sort of metaphor for aging.
I used to watch this movie every Valentine's Day.
@@corbydaniel4256 I saw it more as a metaphor for loved one with terminal illness.
@@lulub517 That too.
Geena Davis improvised giving Goldblum that hug after his ear falls off, not realizing she was pressing her head right against it.
Cronenberg is the absolute master of body horror. I always wanted him to direct a Clive Barker story.
Your child wandering in, that was adorable! And very funny. Great stuff.
One of THE ALL-TIME GREAT sci-fi/horror movies. Oscar winning make up, a stunning score, and kudos to Mel Brooks! Cronenberg's masterpiece.
Loved the cameo! Wee star ❤
I love this film. It's such a silly concept but it's made without an ounce of humour and if you were to know that before going in, you'd think it would never work. But man, they COMMITTED and it completely works. It's such a sad film, so much wasted potential through recklessness. The performances are just perfect. Weirdly one of my fav bits is when he has his ultimate transformation and the shot follows their feet moving across the floor and it feels like such a 1950s shot. Nice homage to the original. 10/10.
Oh hell yeah. Can’t believe I’m excited to watch other people watch a movie 😂 you should do more cronenberg after this!
Let’s see how the fly goes lol
Hardly anybody ever does videodrome, its such a classic
@@kevindorn2508 I wanna see them watch that one. And Dead Ringers.
Isn't the fog a kronenberg film ?
@@solomonkane6442 the Fog is John Carpenter
If you are going to do remakes you should also do the originals for comparisons. The 1958 version of "The Fly" with Vincent Price was a fun sci-fi flick.
29:15 The Fly is a classic. Brilliant performance by Jeff Goldblum. He should had got a Oscar nomination. Outstanding makeup effects by Chris Walas.
The part in which the daughter comes into the picture all smiling and happy... Omg! Hilarious and adorable
"Is he a serial killer?"
No, that's Jeff Goldblum, Kathy Baker and Alan Bates in Mister Frost. One of Goldblum's finest performances.
Both versions of "Invasion Of The Body Snatchers" were great, & both versions of "Cape Fear"! IMO, original The Fly was good too!✌😎❤
Great reaction and I think what made the ending very sad was that Veronica wasn't expecting their to be anything left of Seth in the creature after he forced her into the telepod, but the fact that he showed his humanity and wanted to do the right thing by being killed is what makes the ending so sad
I love dream sequences in movies but the writers should have had Seth dream he was a fly stuck in a spiders web.A perfect tribute to the original movie.
When you told your daughter that you didn’t have any bananas. An old Lois Prima song popped into my head. 🎶 yes we have no bananas, we have no bananas today 🎶
12:31 "I would be hesitant to let a baboon that has been teleported.. hang out with me..." rofl, I'm with ya.
The original version of "The Fly" came out in the early 60s. I remember because my sister went and saw it and Freaked the F out, she had nightmares and cried for a week. Our parents then wouldn't let the rest of us siblings ever watch any scary movies until we were teenagers. I'm 60s now, but i'm going to text my sister and tell her that I haven't forgotten.
1958.
@@laustcawz2089 Back in the days before home video, films were commonly re-released in theatres.
So he still may have seen it in the 60s.
This is one of my all time favorites !!! Jeff Goldblum at his best !!!
Lmao your daughter's mannerisms are so hilarious.
11:40 ...
-Gina: "Tastes funny"
-Jeff: "Funny how?"
-Me: Funny like it is a clown? Like it is here to amuse you? What the f**k you mean by funny?
I saw the kid and freaked out. 😳 Like "You *CANNOT* let her see any of this movie!" 🤣
"YES! WE HAVE NO... BANANAS!!!
WE HAVE NO... BANANAS.. TODAY!!!"
Completely Adorable.
Will you be doing more Cronenberg? He’s a great director the fly 2 is also good but made by a different director
Yup, directed by the guy who did the special effects in this one.
@@Fedorevsky And that scene with the melting face terrifies me to this day.
@@elih9700 Oh yes, horrifying!
Dead ringers !

The 1981 Oscar-winning animated short The Fly was actually a whole movie through the eyes of a fly. I'm sure it's on UA-cam and other places, it's very short.
I didn't know y'all were parents until that surprise cameo! She is just the cutest! I just have to say, it seems like Mrs. Movies has gotten more confident and sassy compared to the early vids on your channel. That's a good thing! I hope y'all flip the script and have Mrs. Movies introduce Mr. Movie to some of her favorite movies and TV shows!
1. Banana hungry child was a good piece of comedic relief in the Director's Cut of the film. Haha
2. This film is amazing. Second best remake after "The Thing".
3. One quibble is the idea that he'd turn into a fly. Humans and flies share 60% of DNA. It's probably most likely that the fly part would have just become a tiny tumor on his body.
But then we wouldn't get an awesome movie out of it haha.
I was head over heels for Jeff Goldbloom after this movie came out. He is Everything! Smart, tall, handsome, & charming... * swoon *
Awesome and creepy movie and interesting facts about The Fly (1986) Several sequences were filmed but cut from the final release, including a sequence where Brundle sends a cat and the surviving baboon through the telepods, resulting in a mutated creature he beats to death with a pipe; a scene where Brundle climbs the outside of his building as an insect limb emerges from his side; and an alternate ending in which Veronica has another dream of her unborn child, this time as a baby with beautiful butterfly wings. Geena Davis wasn't acting when Jeff Goldblum's right ear falls off. Her reaction in the film was genuine and she was genuinely shocked when it was filmed and David Cronenberg kept the take of her reaction in the film. Marky, the barfly whom Seth gruesomely defeats in one-sided arm-wrestling, is played by George Chuvalo, a famous Canadian heavyweight boxer.
25:04 I think at this point, Seth is trying to cope with this uncontrollable change as a scientist while unfortunately slowly losing his sanity. He feels that he is out of options to save himself so he's leaning into it.
I remember seeing this in theaters. the one scene that made the audience recoil, was when he was in pretty bad shape and said, "help me" and she hugged him. That line was made famous in the original fly film--which had a much more disturbing and horribly sad final scene. but the reboot far exceeds the original as far as grossness. Cute edit at the end of the review, though. but to support her argument, watch the final scenes of the original fly.
Several things to say here, first,I love you two, your daughter looks like such a sweetie, great reaction to a disgusting but amazing scifi/horror movie and the little special effects after the movie were so funny.Jeff G is an amazing actor as well as Geena D.Stay well and safe(and stay away from flies). ❤
"At baboons R Us?" No, at Bed, Bath, and Baboons. Best. Leo.
Finally a worthy movie!!! This movie is in my Top 10.
in reality, it's impossible for matter to be teleported or travel through time: since fermions are mass particles, they cannot overlap with one another; any attempt to accelerate a fermion faster than light would result in an anti-matter annihilation reaction - as the subject particle would immediately collide with another version of itself
this reaction is necessary for quantum fields to maintain thermodynamic equilibrium and temporal relative entropy; as well as to foster nucleosynthesis and molecular formation
bosons, however, can be "teleported" and/or travel through time, since, under certain conditions, they have no mass - which allows them to entangle and overlap with other versions of themselves without incident
Yeah, I was thinking that, all the way through the movie.
That fly edited on the shirt near the end had me shook. With heaphones, I thought there was a fly in my room.
I just rewatched this and I tried to put myself in Ronnie's shoes start to finish. I wound up crying at the part where his ear fell off, because oh my god you're front row to the expedited decay of a human into a monster, someone you love and want to help but can't. It's. So. Horrifying.
Your daughter's the star of the evening. Happy Mother's Day!
Fun fact:David Cronenberg plays the doctor delivering the baby in the dream sequence 😉
4:10 banana emergency

Oh my gosh...I can totally handle graphic body-horror movies, but I nearly died from the cute factor when your daughter strolled in! Appreciate you guys not editing that out, plus adding applause! Lofl...
Watching it again made me realized the reason it was turned into an opera.
Trivia Note: The Fly was produced by Brooksfilms Inc as in Mel Brooks and his son Max, Max is also the author of The Zombie Survival Guide (2003) and World War Z (2006)...
"Weirdest genetically modified creature ever"
Biollante says hi. The Thing also says hi.
Can’t wait to see this. I saw this as a kid. That and the first Alien movie with my dad at like 4-5 years old. I turned out ok.
Wow! No way I could have handled them at that age
4:02 I laughed so hard when she came from nowhere
Highly recommend Videodrome! Cronenberg is the master of body horror movies (alongside Shinya Tsukomoto)
One of my youngest childhood film memories is seeing Telebrundlefly come out of the final teleporter, turning to my parents, and asking if he was malfunctioning.
(I was a huge fan of Short Circuit.)
26:32, this was #33 on Bravo's 100 Scariest Movie Moments!
Baxter: Let me out. *banging on the door* There's been a terrible mistake.
AHHHHH!
When I’ve been asked, what’s the grossest movie I’ve ever seen, The Fly remake is my answer.
Peter Jackson's Braindead is pretty high up there as well.
"you work form home you can do what ever you want..."
On another note, It's like the little one know it was movie time. Had to be a part of it.
The Popeye that propped up when she said "G-g-g-g" just killed me! Props to the editor!
I'm not usually a kids person but holy shit your daughter's cameo was the most adorable thing I've seen in ages
This is my favorite movie as a child, they gave it to me along with my first DVD player, my mother doesn't like it because my father invited her to see it to the cinema on a romantic date and says that when I left I bought her a trinket in a park like the protagonist of the movie.
Are you a bodybuilder? Yeah I build bodies for a living, I take them apart and put them back together again.
Wow, giving us 8 days notice, very generous.
I know you’re being sarcastic but this is the first time we’ve schedule a premiere. Wasn’t sure how it would work. We always upload our videos to YT a week in advance as soon as they are edited and it made the chat when we scheduled it.
Honestly, after thinking about it. A good week reminder might be appreciated by a lot of people. They might not have seen the film yet and that gives them a week to find time to do so. So they can watch along and enjoy it more, etc.
@@YouMeTheMovies I understand, sorry if I came off like a jerk.
The editing in the outro 10/10!! Loved it! My favorite quote from this reaction: "Flies are gymnasts?" Also if you haven't seen it yet I recommend the Evil Dead remake for remayke month.
The applause when you’re little one pops in had me in tears of laughter 😂😂
Kids are all "WTF is going on in there?!?"
@@Cheepchipsable lol
I always thought that in original, when dude sees the fly with human face screaming help, while on spider web was well done.
Jesus, your daughter made me jump, popping out of nowhere. I was like where the hell did she come from?! Shaved 5 years off my life.
Another hilarious video of the missus reacting to disgusting movies. Fun editing also throughout. The wait was worth it.
the underboob answer was both unexpected and chuckle-worthy
If you search on UA-cam you can find a deleted scene where Brundle-Fly tries splicing a baboon and cat (which is why you don't see the baboon anymore) and he beats it to death, and a scene where he starts growing an insect leg and gnaws it off. I'm glad they cut the scenes because it made Brundle-Fly a true villain and took away any sympathy you may have had left for him. Pretty disturbing stuff, but the Cat-Baboon did look goofy tho.
The sci-fi premise is so rock solid. If human and fly DNA were combined suddenly like this in a fully formed human, it probably would be a gradual horrifying transformation as the new hybrid DNA starts expressing the new hybrid proteins. Fly and human DNA isn’t as different as you would expect either, Flys are used in developmental genetics because they are easy to work with and have a set of proteins and genes that roughly match up with our set.
The ending in the original was a great concept and makes the movie worth watching.
A Scientist became a Fly.
And
A Journalist became a Human.
More Cronenberg films please. The king of body horror.
this is the first time i seen someone set a premier so far ,but it doesn't bother me. gives me something to look forward too :)
Fun Fact: David Cronenberg had a Cameo in this Movie - He was the Doctor delivering the Fly-Larva Thingy in the Dream-Sequence.
Great Reaction again - really like watching you two.
No flies on you two with that reaction. Still love the original with David Hedison.
If you think about it, what good is Brundle's teleportation system? The pods have to be connected by a cable (no wireless technology in 1986) so if you wanted to send something from New York to California, you would have to place the cable underground for protection. How do you guard against sabotage? Earthquakes and flooding? If all you used it for is to ship goods and put UPS out of business, that's great but I can't see people using it as a method of regular transportation.
One of the best sci fi horror films of all time
Bogart's "Maltese Falcon" is actually a remake.
So is "Gaslight" with Ingrid Bergman (1944).
They're not really remakes when there's source material (book, comic etc.) e.g. The Thing, IT, James Bond, Batman. EDIT: Judge Dredd and Dredd is another example.
LoL “I dont like his hair...”
Dont worry he’s gonna look a lot better later on without it! 😆
The clapping was a nice touch. 🤣
Hey, a new movie reaction. I haven't seen this one. I think that I will go and get some food and eat while watching this. :)
26:33 .....This scene could be the best prophylactics advertisement ever..... Just roll the scene, fade to black and add the title: "USE PROTECTION....OR ELSE".....XDXD
A perfect movie. Love Cronenberg. He acted in Clive Barker’s NIGHTBREED. Kinky.
I rewatched it recently & I remembered Doug Bradley being in it but it took me a while to remember that Cronenberg is also in it.
He also got murderlised in Jason X
Been waiting for this one.... because you announced it well in advance!
At the end, the Mr. is so pleased with himself and I'm laughing so hard that I'm fuccin crying right now 😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭😭
All while the Mrs. has a face stuck somewhere between disgust and confusion 🤣🤣🤣
Remember. Watch on an empty stomach. :)
I do love watching reactions to this movie, one of the best most f-ed up flicks ever.
