    My personal reasons for carrying a concealed weapon. There are other reasons why people carry, so feel free to disagree and/or agree with anything I said, but at the end of the day this is only "my" opinion and "my" personal reasons. You do what works for you.

      unless you are confronted by a threat & you're trying to deescalate the situation but it hasn't worked. at that point "hey I'm carrying" should be shared along with reaching for it. or as TheFireArmGuy says "don't go to stupid places with stupid people doing stupid things."

    I disagree with some of the things you've stated. i have a CCP and own many handguns and several rifles. I have at times "showed of" some of my weapons to close friends who are CCP holders and I see nothing wrong with that. Some people such as myself and my friends are responsible gun owners and enthusiasts as well. I own some classic handguns/rifles as well as war memorabilia such as a few of my close friends and there have never been any problems or safety issues in regards to showing and even allowing each other to fire weapons at a range while following safety rules. As for people who have been victimized in the past and choose to legally carry a handgun, I see nothing wrong with making such a decision in order to put themselves in a position where they can successfully protect themselves in the future given there was proper training on the particular weapon chosen. Instead of alienating each other, we should be united, support, and educate each other on the great importance of of responsible firearms ownership and rigorous defense of our 2nd Amendment rights.

    I carry because I am an old man and want to protect myself and my loved ones.
    I guess we carry for the same reason.
    Although the law gets funky in a hurry, I'd probably step forward in defense of someone else, too. I've done it in the past ... that seems to be how I am wired.

    I like the video just disagree with your perspective on those who "were formally victimized by violence" as "dangerous"... not so.
    I have been, I guess victimized by gun violence starting from high school walking from football practice about 23 times until I started carrying a gun at my father's and grandfather's request who were cops. But you could be right, because I'm the type of guy who would rather fight then use my gun and have been in fights while carrying a gun and never showed it. Maybe it's the type of person and not the motivation to carry a gun?

      The statement doesn't apply to all victims. Just those buying a weapon immediately after being "victimized" without talking the necessary steps to make themselves "whole" again, so as to not become overly reactive. There are many reasons that would determine where an individual may fall in the grand scheme of "making whole". And you're right, it is applicable on an individual basis, but that still makes the statement true.

    Hey brother I just discovered your channel and I have to say I really enjoy your videos. I definitely conceal carry for the last two reasons you mentioned: I want to be able to step in for any other innocent American if the worst should happen while I'm present, and that has a lot to do with my background as a former active Army Infantry officer and a current PA National Guard officer. But the most important reason I carry is my wife and my 7-month old daughter. Why should I, or any other father in my position, wait for other men with guns (cops) to come protect my two ladies, when I'm better trained than most of them and I'm already right there? Self-defense, and the defense of family, is not just an individual right, it's an individual responsibility. One I take deadly seriously.

    @Aaargojay  11 років тому

    It’s the same principle. But now you have a victim whose OODA Loop process is off. It happens to most of us and training does help but time is the only real cure for this issue. The people you are around may or may not have had enough time pass, but every human is different and I would rather err on the side of caution than to become an accidental target. Still just my opinion though... Thanks for watching! Stay safe and stay the course!

  • @Aaargojay

    What many people fail to understand is the nature of humans directly after a traumatic event. A large percentage of people look to arm themselves too soon after the event. When this happens the body/mind doesn’t have the time needed to reset its “threat sensor”. It’s like if your car has ever been broken in to. How willing are you to park and leave your car in the same place? Or any place for that matter. Do you continuously look out the window at your car or go out to check on it?(Cont. below)

    I think the only reason people compare the two of us[Mr. Colion Noir] is because we are two educated black men who speak their minds about the gun culture today. We do share similar ideas and stances, but so do a lot of non-black gun guy here on YT. We don't hear anybody screaming comparisons with those guys now, do we? I will say this, with all our similarities and ideas, I was "inspired" by Mr. Colion Noir to start these videos. See my intro. Thanks for watching. Stay safe and stay the course.

    there is a 4th kind of carriers, the one who carries as they think guns are cool, feel safe and are willing to protect themselves and others being at the same time responsible and knowing how to use and when to use a gun. I assume this is you and quite many of those who carry and want to carry. Anyway good point and nice to see another person who responsibly talks about and handles guns :) a thumbs up for you mate.

    Carrying a concealed weapon is like taking responsibility like almost sitting on a commercial jet next to the emergency exit door. The flight attendent asked if you can perform the task of opening this door in case of an Emergency. Some people are not up to this and choose another seat but I sit there sometimes because I know I can do this because you are accepting responsibility of that task if things go bad. I have pondered the idea of a conceal carry permit for a couple of years now but my gun stays in my truck in Louisiana. When I go on Vacation in the car with my wife and kids I bring along it like the old commercial about the American Express Card "Never leave home without it". In other states the laws are different about guns in vehicles but I do not care about that. I will protect myself and my family comes first.

    Guns are cool, and fun. But carrying is a lifestyle, its a mindset. With great power comes great responsibility. You must be willing to move toward the fire when others are running away. I believe anyone that carries must accept that they are a protector for those that do not, as an obligation and a duty. In the many scenarios I've experienced, the best ones were the ones where I wasn't alone in the fight. Thanks for repping WI, I was worried WI was going the way of NY/CA.

    good video bro, not everyone has your mind set about carrying. I love my guns but I enjoy them on the range when I'm not using them they are away. I haven't had any run out a shoot anyone, its all about fear of something they don't understand. we live in a sheltered society

  • @jjfaughn
    @jjfaughn 11 років тому

    good vid man. I carry because of a combination of some of those reasons. I carry because I have been victimized (matter of fact that situation is what got me to consider carrying) but I did not just go out the next day and buy a gun and start toting it everywhere. I informed myself and did months of research and educating myself on the issue. That is the key. Second I carry to protect not only myself and family but also other people who could potentially become victimized as I was.

  • @Aaargojay
    @Aaargojay  11 років тому

    True indeed. However, see comment in response to latentprints360 and the rest of my comments about why I feel this way. Like I wrote there, there are many types of people to avoid. This is just highlighting why "I" carry. Thanks for watching. Stay safe and stay the course

  • @Aaargojay
    @Aaargojay  11 років тому

    There are some people(not cops, military) that leave there homes everyday knowing that they will be ready to defend their fellow citizens. That is their right and I think that they are exemplary Americans. I too think it's cool to have the right to be able to carry a gun and protect myself and my family. However, that is altogether different than carrying because you have a gun and looking for reasons to show it off. This could presume to be problematic for some. Thanks for watching. Stay Safe!

  • @Aaargojay
    @Aaargojay  11 років тому

    I was just speaking about "some" concealed carriers. There are many types of people to avoid in this world, the point of the vide was why "I" carry and not about anyone else specifically. However, I explained my statement about victims further in the comments above. Give it a read to see why I said what I did about victims. Again this doesn't apply to all, but it does to a large number of people. At the end of the day it's still just opinion. Thanks for watching. Stay safe and stay the course.

  • @Aaargojay
    @Aaargojay  11 років тому

    No worries brother!! You are entitled to your opinion. Frankly, that part of the reason I do this. However, I will say this; the media has portrayed minorities of all kinds in such a negative manner, that it is almost shocking to see an educated black man who loves America and loves gun, but furthermore, is responsible with his firearms. As a matter of fact, you just gave me a new video!! Thanks for subscribing. Stay safe and stay the course

  • @Aaargojay
    @Aaargojay  11 років тому

    I gotcha brother!!! But just know, I was not stereotyping, only identifying one reason why some people who have been victimized are dangerous. That's all. Hell, I've been a victim for the record. It took me a while to get back to "zero" too. Thanks again.

  • @jjfaughn

    So basically I feel I chose to start carrying because of a combination of reasons. I believe the number one weapon for anyone who carries should be their mind. Reacting before thinking and not educating yourself is what gets you in trouble and gives us 2ed amendent believers a bad name. A gun is a LAST resort. Educating yourself is so important. Anyways just a little of what I believe. I could go on forever. Great vid though man

    You had me at "bacon" :-D Two of my best friends saved their own bacon because they had a CCW. One was told to hand over her purse and then strip. She pulled out her revolver. Even though they already had a gun pointed at her, they ran! My other friend was driving down a road and a car pulled up alongside and paced his car. They pointed either a .22 or a pellet gun at him (he says pellet gun). He pointed his .45 back at them - they sped ahead and took the next exit. Happy endings! :)

      In a situation where you don't have a gun: find a person that does. In a stadium you should look for an officer and attempt to warn them of any armed or dangerous person in the immediate area.If no officer is around and you still have time, call the police, or pull a fire alarm. After that, get out. A bar is a different story because bars across the world have different regulations and some may bend the rules for frequent visitors or high ranking people. If in a bar and a situation occurs(Hope you didn't get hammered just before) Make an attempt to disarm any intruder if they are armed. If you can do that, get your bartender to get an officer or if its a big bar, get another guy (or gal) to help you out

  • @qaomowale

    we agree to disagree (regarding the effectiveness of concealed carry). I will say that it is a double standard to have a permit/"permission" to exercise a basic human right of self defense. there are also some people who carry & infringe on the rights of others (a small percentage, but any infringement is not right).

  • @mistereveready

    Aye, I wasn't trying to argue against carrying if that's what it seems like, just that stereotyping is bad. IMO conceal carry shouldn't require a license and there should be no federally mandated no gun zones. Only place would perhaps be visiting stations in prisons and maybe courtrooms

    Good points. I agree with your first reason why most CC. Makes them feel like a badass. The same guys that study Krav Maga for 10 years living under the illusion they're going to turn into Jason Bourne or John Wick when it gets real. But, what most CC people overlook is the fact that it's never going to be one on one. The chances of that is as good as winning the lottery. Any time it's one man against many....in a gunfight or empty-hand...
    As well, most CCW people have never been shot at. They've never been in that situation. At most they've gone to weekend tactics seminars taught by alleged ex-SPEC OPS guys (why would the reveal they were SPEC OPS and risk certain groups finding them for pay back?). Just like the Karate "expert" that's never been hit or stepped in as ring. And thinks he's now a lethal weapon with his 1st degree black belt. Spending years training in one on one controlled sparring. :) In the same class. 2 nights a week.

    I don't see why there is anything wrong with someone who have been the victim of a violent crime to decide to carry a gun, so they can protect themselves if faced with a serious threat again. They need to have the right attitude, but the whole idea of carrying a gun is to protect yourself, and nobody knows that more than someone ho have been a victim of a violent crime.

Let me just say this now, I will never convince you of what i believe and there is no way you will convince me of what you believe. I'll give it a shot though. Lets start with your comment about misjudging a situation. Presenting your firearm should be the last resort. People that are active in the carry community know this. next i would rather have a firearm in a shooting then be unarmed, no matter the outcome.

  • @Gunrunner92FS
    @Gunrunner92FS 11 років тому

    I agree that the people that are trying to show off are dangerous. But sometimes when a person becomes a victim, it opens their eyes and makes them realise they should have been practing their rights all along. I wouldn't be afraid of anyone that would choose to carry because they got the shit beat out of them. They simply learned the hard way that passivism doesn't work. I'm not saying being an aggressive asshole does; it certainly doesn't... but always be ready and on the lookout.

    I agree mostly about what you are saying, however the victimization part not sold on 100%. I can see someone who has been trained and was a previous victim being in the 3rd category. Either way it's all opinions, love what you and Colion Noir are doing. Keep up the good fight. God Bless.

    So anyone who has been victimized shouldn't carry because that history makes them dangerous? This is the tool that allows them to defend themselves from a repeat abuse. That's not the message I want to give someone.

    How often do you carry your firearm? Do you feel like you are better equipped to defend yourself and family when you have your firearm with you? If you carry it regularly and you do feel better equipped, why the need to disparage victims of crime that choose to carry? The only gun owners you should fear are irresponsible owners and criminals. A sheep dog is just as likely to shoot bystanders as a former victim and that is why I believe that portion of your video is a disservice to gun owners.

    Why I carry was fortified by the toddler shot in the head while sitting in his stroller last week in GA. I have two kids and a wife. I can't comprehend this type of evil, so I can't predict it either. i just can't wrap my head around it. He was just a baby.

    Not all victims are dangerous conceal carry people. I think that may be an incorrect statement. Not saying that you are totaly wrong, just partially.

    Message to me from Sabiancym (why it is not public--dont know): "Criminals rarely harm their victims. Very rarely. So why bother complicating things by pulling out a gun. I'd much rather have more crime than have less crime, but more deaths and injuries per crime. Which is what gun happy vigilantes could do. I'm not saying all who carry are, but you know damn well there are people out there watching die hard movies just itching to justify shooting someone."

    You & Colion Noir should do a collaboration video!

    It's always the same reason. "I should be able to protect myself." but you fail to see anyone else but you. "Defense of the public" my ass. Why should I be put in danger because you decide to go all vigilante at a Wal-mart that's being held up? You could start an unnecessary shootout, hit an innocent civilian, or fuck up in any other of the countless ways. And don't say you're trained so it's ok. Even if you are absolutely perfect, others aren't.

    Another great video. I am from Texas, and live in Kentucky. Open carry bothers me up here unless your on a ranch or in the woods. I believe it is dangerous to flash a firearm it raises intimidation and alarms. Cops are alerted, and dangerous people get skitzy about things like that. I love cowboy shit but if your not out packing to kill Coyotes and Rattler's then your really immature to be brandishing a weapon in public like that for Billy Bad Ass reasons? You could say the same for people's choice in clothes, cars or bumper stickers but those are not weapons either?

    Scenario 3 at start sounds a bit like vigilantism. If you carry you should never look for an opportunity to "step in". Civis don't have the same rights/protections under the law that LEO's do.
