    isn't the grey matter of the spinal cord, inside the spinal cord, and the white matter is on the periphery of the spinal cord, so the pia mater of the spinal cord should be attached directly to the white matter and note grey??

    Dr.You have pictured vessels in the second layer:Arachoidea.Isn't this feature only of the pia mater layer which is made from losse connective tissue?

    The epidural space does lie between the skull and the dura mater. Not strictly in the spinal column.

    Isn't the pia mater fused to the white matter and not the gray matter??

    • @aurelcato7465
      @aurelcato7465 8 років тому +2

      +Barbiiee360 the gray matter is the neuronal cell bodies while the white fibers are the axons( nerve fibers). For the bray the gray matter is on the outside while the white mater is inside and vice versa for the spinal cord. The pia mater is attached to the cerebral cortex(gray matter).

    Sir I was wondering if there was no epidural space in the brain, then how come we can have epidural hematomas there following a trauma to the skull?

    • @geLicious008HAHA
      @geLicious008HAHA 9 років тому +2

      A very interesting question razaz el-sheikh . I think Sir Wolf is correct. Normally, there's no epidural space in the brain (dura-skull interface), but during Middle Meningeal Artery damage (most cases), this can cause epidural hematoma.
      As seen in Netter's 5th Edition Plate 99, it is written there that the dura-skull interface becomes the site of epidural hematoma in the brain. Thank you for the question I was confused at this at first also.
