Just saw this video, thanks for the inspiration! I bought a LdA this year with high hopes but it was nothing doing. Decided after I saw your pinching video to pinch again, finally have some figs on it that are coming along v fast! Hoping they will ripen before season end, weather has been so warm and dry here in S Jersey. Really glad I didn't give up on this fig if it's anything approaching yours

Ross, Spectacular fig. Congrats. Hotter dryer weather is a true friend to fig growers and this bears it out. This cultivar looks like a winner! Thnx for sharing but still trying to just say no to more figs!! You are not making that decision any easier...Randy/GA

I have 7 small plants of LDA, and prepare to put two into a pot. if its figs are good enough, I am gonna propagate an army of it. LDA is one of the varieties of which figs can dry out and still attach on the tree.

Would you let those of us who grow in colder climates than yours, and must grow in pots which go into our garages or basements for their winter dormancy, whether these two mentioned today, and each you do a video about, would be suitable for us? It would be so helpful. Many thanks for the education your videos, blog, and podcasts have given me🥰

Looks amazing! I love huge huge tasty early figs that don’t split. What’s the hang time on longue Daoust? In other words How many days would you say are needed until the figs are ripe from pea size figlets? My cuttings are starting to fruit now so I hope they will ripen by mid October 🙈
    Thanks Ross!

Hey Ross, thanks for the video! Will you be putting out a list of the trees you’ll be offering for sale in the coming months?

Now you see Ross(the breba hater) you have had a shift in weather conditions and seen what quality brebas can be. Here in PNW we basically have no rain for July and August and get to eat high quality brebas yearly. It's good to see you showing brebas some love now

    • @RossRaddi
      @RossRaddi  2 роки тому

It's true. They're typically no good here. On the in grounds, they seem to be much better.

@@RossRaddi yes breba hold much better with in ground trees plus they taste way better. There is quit big differences between varieties with a trees ability to hold breba while in container

I see your plants are closer to foundation, heard specifically fig trees are not supposed to plant closer to walls, foundations, can you clarify? I have a spot 3 ft closer to my house foundation, I’m in dilemma whether to plant or not, your answer will help me a lot.

Plant it next to the house.

It seems like the older your trees get the sooner they are fruiting.

you have a breba in ground in 7a philly? Nice. Carmel flavor? Sugar flavor? What was this breba like? Probably not berry flavored im assuming

Ross, I’m living in New York City. How come my breba figs taste like cardboard? I don’t get it. They look really good and big, but just tasteless.

Colder temps, not letting them hang enough, variety. Lots of factors.

Hey Ross, have you tried a GE Neri? Very similar.

Similar in size and drying - not exactly flavor.

      Hi Ross
Thanks for replying to my question regarding the I/D of my variety.
Unfortunately there was only one survivor of the first crop, which started to rot but when I cut it, unfortunately it wasn’t ripe.
Thank you for taking the time to speak to me & I have to say I’ve learnt a lot about figs by watching your videos.

Ross I know you don't care whether you pronounce things properly or not but I laugh every time you say Long Dedoot. There's only 1 D. Just say Long "Doubt" and you'll be way closer (but still wrong)
