So start doing them without the hammer. You can only do that on PC. Your guide is worthless to console players. We don't have the option to throw the hammer when we're in normal melee distance. It just does a normal melee and there's no way to change it.
Actually you can. I just switched my melee to up on the d pad. Here's this and you can hit them with your hammer with them literally right in front of you.
For those asking how he throws his hammer do close to enemies. Go into your settings and change the button layout to custom. Go down to auto melee and unbind it, now change charged melee and unchanged melee to the same button. (I make my punch up on the d pad.) What this does is flip the logic of your melee button so it will always use your charged melee first, uncharged second. (But mines up on the d pad.) Not that this will screw up then shoulder charge melee in your other speed yes because of you aren't sprinting you can't melee. ( Me I don't care I'm only doing this for hammer) simply change your button layout back to default if you play those other specs. My writing is inside ( ) those. And I found this of of one of my other videos and it's a life saver and pretty damn sweet too.

My buddy plays on Xbox and he bound it to a different button. I'm sure there's a tutorial hiw to keybind for console players out there
