Tricolored Blackbird colony foraging and collecting nesting material

Tricolored Blackbirds are a threatened bird species in California. On April 17th, 2022, I was out conducting surveys of stockponds and wetlands where these birds have been known to nest. After multiple sites with no sign of Trikes, this spot lifted my spirits! Watch as the birds fly in formation, foraging on grass seeds and collecting nesting material.
