Growing up as a neo-maxi-zoom-dweebie comic-addict, I can't convey how happy I am now to see Stan Lee get to realize his brilliance in front of a global audience. Marvel comics in the 1970's weren't just comic books. They were brilliant stories with complex characters. I was literally addicted. The writing was way above grade, and the animation (most of the time) was stellar. You can only imagine how badly Lee wanted to see his characters shown on the big screen in a significant way. Bravo!

Stan Lee, he taught me everything about Super heroes and mutants, heck he wrote the books!
I remember Stan in his younger days in the 90s, back when he had brown hair.
Stan Lee, is a great comic book writer, I hope he will continue to inspire upcoming super heroes for generations to come.
    X-men were always my favorite.

Stan Lee & Steve Ditko are the fathers of Spider-Man. period.

  • @Szeicheng
    @Szeicheng 12 років тому +1

According to Steve Ditko: "That is the total of Kirby's Spider-man 'creation.' That is what he 'created,' brought into existence - five un-used pencilled pages of an unfinished story... Almost all of the bits of this 'creation' (the scientist, magic ring, etc.) were discarded/never used. So what is left of the 'original creation'? A name, a teenager, an aunt and uncle."

spider man was definitely one of the very first superheros who actually had flaws and normal everyday problems. of course today, that's considered normal and necessary, but it might not have been if it wasn't for stan lee. ^^

While moving through a cosmic storm in his experimental spacecraft, a writer is bitten by a radioactive spider, and crash-lands back on Earth into the heart of a gamma explosion. Seeking a cure for his various afflictions, he journeys to a strange land, but only becomes a master of the mystic arts as well. By default, he accepts an invitation to teach at a school for gifted youngsters, where he is given the code name of Living Legend.

Ditco and Kirby made the magic, Stan had the ideas and an uncanny sense of marketing. It's a shame that the first two don't get as much credit as Lee, but antagonizing him like it's the trend these days isn't fair either.

That is understandable I guess if Stan thinks violence is dis-tasteful. I think that only applies to, real life situations. VIolence in any kind of art form doesn't bother me, you have fun with slasher films. In some films they want you to take it seriously, like letting you reflect on a characters actions. Overall I kind've disagree.

Because of that, his other muscles became incredible strong! When his beloved physiotherapist was killed, he made himself amazing Fighting-Prothestic legs, and a costume, then he wasn't just a man without legs... He was The Prothesis!

@DashHedgehog unless they are calling you gay in a litteral homosexual way (meaning they actually think you are homosexual and mean that with what they're saying), you should take it as the old english definition*wiki*: It was originally used to refer to feelings of being "carefree", "happy", or "bright and showy".
Or if you want to shut them up, you could reply to their "gay" taunts in a forcefull and serious manner saying you are Bi (still allowing you access to girls, but throwing them off).

"I don't like stories where children are harmed or mistreated." "I don't like stories where men take advantage of women." AMEN! Nowadays it feels like comics are more about who can be more violent, shocking, and offensive. And that's fine if you're talking Watchmen, Punisher, adult graphic novels for mature audiences. However, I do not nor have I ever wanted to see a 17 year old girl be tortured to death (Stephanie Brown, "Wargames") in a Batman comic. Know the line between action and violence!

  • @ReMeDy_TV

@MustyMarkus1 For games back then, there were poor ones too. Publishers, like Ljn, rolled out awful stuff, especially movie licensed games. There was severe lack of thought invested in some. For example, it took X-Men games several tries before finally giving Wolverine permanent retracted claws (see AVGN's review).
I think the production qualities in games have skyrocketed tremendously. Companies have a better appreciation for fan-bases. There's still crap, but it's better than how I remember.

JACK KIRBY is the true main figure for Marvel. If you think Kirby was just drawing Stan's ideas you need to look at the facts. Kirby joins Marvel and shortly after, they have a thousand new and inventive characters. Kirby leaves Marvel and creates an entire universe of characters for D.C., many of which are still huge. Stan, at this time, QUITS WRITING. Jack comes back to Marvel and creates more characters that are still quite big. The facts are undeniable. Stan was good but JACK WAS THE KING

Welp, although a lot of people, including some American comic writers, find violence 'distasteful', it still exist in our world. You'll find in maybe manga that violence is always emphasized. It really is all about opinion, although extreme violence may be more realistic, a 4 dimensional world, like today we don't care about the fourth dimension. Just the first three. Marvel really does emphasize action more than anything, which is still entertaining.

Jack co-created Spider-man as well. Jack drew the first appearance. However, Stan does deserve a lot of credit, BUT Stan Lee getting more credit than the artist and ESPECIALLY WHEN JACK WAS THE ARTIST, is like giving a screenwriter more credit than a director even though the director wrote half the story. And Jack created Dr. Doom as well. It is one thing to say I want this guy named Dr. Doom but who would care without JACK KIRBY'S DESIGN??? JACK BLOWS STAN AWAY!!! And so does Ditko.
