The theme song, "A View to a Kill", was written by John Barry and Duran Duran, and performed by the band. "A View to a Kill" reached number two on the UK Singles Chart and number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States, thus becoming the peak song in the James Bond series.
Duran Duran was chosen to do the song after bassist John Taylor (a lifelong Bond fan) approached producer Cubby Broccoli at a party, and somewhat drunkenly asked "When are you going to get someone decent to do one of your theme songs?"

Genius!
Thanks. Glad you liked it.
Now this is certainly up a level compared to the version in the C-64 game "A view to a kill"... and of course it couldn't it be done on a single C-64 like this (vocals and all).
I overlaid the vocal using a DAW. My approach is to mix the old SID with the new tech of a DAW.
@@GavinGrahamBitpop8BitMusic It could be a C64 with a twinSID cart, a guy with a mic, and a simple Dodgy Darren Doubledecks mixer though, eh? Still arguably doable in '82 if you had the money and a convenient branch of Tandy.
Gorgeous!! More Duran Duran please!
Definitely more coming!
@@GavinGrahamBitpop8BitMusic Music to my ears. Much love to you, and happy holidays!
Nice! and a special hello to Sir Roger Moore! and Christopher Walken
Thanks SIDWave! Glad you like it. :)
Totally amazing!!!!
Haha! Thank you! :)
I used to have a crappy 99 cent View to a Kill ring tone on my old nokia. I'd love to download this without the vocals to relive to glory days. Any chance that is around somewhere?
"Dance, into the fireeeeeee"
........To fatal sounds of broken dreams. XD
I'm trying to figure out if you somehow got an acapella stem of the original or did a cracking job impersonating LeBon... The vocal doesn't quite sound true to the original but I can't put my finger on why, other than if it's accent or something.
Wrote that and immediately the end card came up with the credit. "Tency Music" slayed it.
(And the backing track slaps too, I'd have enjoyed that as an instrumental)
Yeah, I go through Tency Music to get most of my vocal stems. When I don't use Tency, I sometimes sing the lead myself and other times I have others do it for me but that not the usual case. Tency have a huuuge collection of songs and their quaality is generally very good. :)
@@GavinGrahamBitpop8BitMusic hearing it again in headphones, it's a bit more clearly different, but it's still a damn good effort
