Dad always said a man who spends 50 cents on greasing up before his daily use, saves $5000 in repairs. His equipment never broke down on a job; because with his daily grease he could spot little problems before they became big ones. Love that you show and discuss your maintenance habits!

I know what you mean about cutting wood helps you keep your sanity. Watching you cut wood relaxes me. It's so calming to listen to you while you're working! I have no idea why. I've used wood hear in the past, maybe that's why. When I was a kid we had 1 chainsaw, 1 trailer, 1 tractor, and an axe. I remember how much work that was. Maybe it's all that great equipment that I like. Keep up the good work!

I’ve been clearing the woods outback and I’ve accumulated somewhere around twenty four stumps that need to be removed. I sure wish I had an excavator like yours. I’m 81 and the thought of having to pay someone to pull those stumps is going to be costly for sure. Going to look nice someday soon though. Pleasant video Mike!

Thanks Mike enjoyed that, we always prepared our units after we finished everyday, but then we always worked them 6 hrs a day so sometimes, depending on the job they would be lubricated at mid day, makes a huge difference after a busy year, nobody wants to replace bearings sooner than needed! A friend of mine, who doesn't own a backhoe but he owns several large tractors and a commercial zero turn mower. He washes and waxes them each time he gets through using them. If someone was to walk into his barn right now they would think it was all new equipment. I have been following you for many years and sometime I ask myself why because all I have is ten acres and it's 98% pasture but I have to admit I have learned a lot about using a tractor. I guess what it comes down to is that I enjoy watching your videos. Keep up the good work.

Monday morning I decided to remove 2 crap trees growing close to my building and it's pretty steep in that area. So I cut the first tree but not all the way and the other one was right next to it. They were about 4 inches in diameter. I then took my 20 foot strap and after some fighting got it around and back through itself. Then came a clevis and hooked another strap into the long one. At the bottom of the hill there is a wooden fence. So then I added 3 sections of 10 foot 3/8 chains to that and then drove my tractor up to the chain and hooked to the bucket. Put the tractor in low gear and 4 wheel drive and started pulling until I couldn't pull anymore. I had to finish cutting the back tree with pole saw. Now these trees had vines growing everywhere. As i pulled it along the hill I started removing the chains. Until i got it where I could remove the main strap, then put the fork attachment on. I picked it up and tilted it and started my way through the gate opening and into the pasture, brought it down to my brush pile and then got on the other side to pick it up and set it on top of the pile. Hard to believe I hardly lost any branches, just a few to pick up. Came back with vegetation killer and sprayed the stumps. Now the area looks great! The people before us threw garbage everywhere, which really ticks me off, that's just laziness.

Here in south central Texas Matagorda county diesel went up right at .30 cents last week from $3.69 to $3.99 some places to $4.09. Gasoline stayed about the same $3.17 to $3.29 depending where you go. We live within 10 miles of a Phillips refinery so you wouldn’t think it’s due to transportation costs. I have 2 Dodge diesel trucks 2003 2500 quad cab lwb 5 speed manual 4x4 and a 2010 3500 single wheel 4 door lwb 4x4 w/ automatic . My son drives a 2023 GMC 2500 4 door 4x4 diesel w/ Allison automatic, pretty much the same thing you have. Between him and I we have about 8-10 trailers from 12 foot tandem to 30 foot tandem duals, travel trailer cattle trailer goose neck lowboys, we can haul just about anything. Lol. Love the channel have a good day!

We did a 6,000 mile tour of the west in May. Lotsa cheap gas but lotsa expensive gas too. Flagstaff, Arizona, we paid 4.99.9 a gallon. Leaving Texas into the wilds of New Mexico we saw prices of 5.59.9 a gallon. I know our prices are high in PA but some of those shocked me. I think Arkansas had the lowest prices but I forget how low...Might have been 2.99.9 or 3.09.9 something like that. Also stopped at three different Buc-ees on the way to Texas...Wanna talk about a gigantic gas station, sheesh!!!

The reason they don't put grease fittings on those bucket pins is because they are in the dirt and the dirt mixes with the grease and it turns in into a grinding fluid and accelerates the ware in those areas.

Hey Mike, there’s another product out and has been out for a lot longer than that one that’s called creepy oil by morel it’s red in color got a pleasant odor to it. I use it a lot on all the door locks in the house. The key locks on the doors of the vehicles ignition switches put a drop in there and you can forget it for a year or two and that’s just fine. It works really really well. You can also put it on the end of a bolt have the nut above where you’re putting it on, and it’ll creep its way up the threads. It isn’t real good at that but it’ll do it.

I have some red oak to be blocked and split. I know it won't be ready for this year. But here where our humidity is relatively low there's little doubt that they'lll be ready for burning next year. Ponderosa pine that we split several weeks ago is dry enough to burn this winter. I had a single round that I hadn't collected from when we dropped a tree in June. It's about 24" and it's quite light now. firewood pieces I've picked up are definitely lighter than when we split. This area is considered "Semi Arid". Dew points in summer are usually in the 40's or low 50's.

Diesel is 4.59 here but I found a station in Lansing that was selling it for 4.09 so I filled up the tank. 30 gallons at .50 a gallon I saved 15.00. Not bad but I can’t believe I’m boasting about 4.00 a gallon diesel. When I bought my Chevy diesel in 2003 it was under 2.00 a gallon. By the way I live in Mason Michigan. Enjoy the video sure do wish I could afford a excavator I could really put it to use in my woods. Everyone have a great day.

Werk Brau is a good place to work. I've been working there for 26 years. I used to build those rakes. I like it when you used to wear the Werk Brau hat.

Diesel jumped to $4.50/gallon in the past couple of days. $141 to fill my Duramax. Premium Non-ethanol is $4.60. If I am in Rapid City Diesel is $.20 cheaper. How long it would take to chip that pile depends on the chipper. The one we used to clean up after a storm a few years ago would probably do that in 20 minutes. But it will take a 20" tree with ease.

The cheapest I have found at Katy Tx is $3.19 for unleaded (cash price). You could have brought down a load of fresh spit red oak to Texas back in May, and it would have been fully dry by now. I don't think we have had a high temp below 98 since mid-May.

Hey if Mike brings a load of red oak we could him trade a load of of this good Texas Mesquite in return....

Yes, I have plenty on my 5 acres at Schulenburg that needs to be cut. I love cooking ribeye steaks over mesquite. Also use it for smoking salmon. Nothing better!

Always good to see a man taking care of his equipment. Way back years ago, you really amazed me how you'd clean up the machine you rented before returning it. That's a great mindset to have. I don't use diesel, but it is over four dollars. Gas is $3.35 to $3.60. We really can't afford another 4 years of Biden, money wise or morally. I'm one of your followers now on X. Thanks Mike.👍🚜❤️🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸

Fuel costs went up under Trump, Biden had nothing to do with it. Biden actually stopped from staying at $5/gal.

I try not to think about how the oil companies are raking in the money. On a nicer note, keeping the equipment clean and maintained is a smart ideal. Depreciation control!!
