Two class acts and great ballplayers. A highlight of being a fan as a boy was watching them leave the field together after an inning was over at a game I saw at Yankee Stadium. They knew very well that they were the Gold Dust Twins that year in '75. And if Rice didn't get hurt at the end of that season - they beat the Reds in the '75 World Series - absolutely and without any doubt. They gave that Reds team everything they could handle and more.

While eating dinner, I had the honor of meeting both of them and getting their autographs while they played for the AAA PawSox!
Both of them were, and still are, class acts.

I got interested in baseball right in that period. What personalities! I had all their baseball cards. I recreated broadcasts on a tape recorder of the games- "George Scott (from the Brewers) goes deep and puts us in the hole..." We always came back....

that was a great season, '75 - second only to '67; Jim Burton should have stayed in that 7th game of the WS, he had the Reds stopped cold

Jim Rice was a far better player than Fred Lynn. Far more integrity also. Jim Rice's entire MLB career was with the Red Sox. Fred Lynn was passed around several MLB teams in his career.
