Places like these, including Temu, Wish, Ali Express, eBay, and Amazon, are "allowing" Chinese sellers to sell raptor feathers, which is a violation of the Lacey Act. I doesn't matter where the bird comes from, in the USA, it is illegal as hell to possess raptor feathers, unless you are an enrolled member of a federally acknowledged Native American tribe. I've contacted all of them about it, but they want ME to do all the work to report them...all of them...hundreds of them.
No doubt it will be just the listings cited in this video, not the million other fake crystal listings, but it’s cool they responded at least! 💜

What makes me the most mad is walking into craft stores such as joann or Michael's and seeing them sell fake, plastic malachite as a REAL crystal. Blows my mind they're allowed to do it.
Michael's at least has more recently been calling it "reconstituted". But the average Joe doesn't know what that means.
As someone who makes beaded jewelry, the bead labeling situation is maddening. This has been a problem with things like turquoise and fancy types of jasper forever. So much badly dyed howlite and even plastics.
If you live out west, dont overlook your local rock shop!
I enjoy all of the goldstone colors, some of the lab created crystal, and smelting quartz I own these pieces. If sellers are honest and the customer loves that "stone" that's all that matters. It's the over pricing and misrepresentation that ruins things.
Ive seen people justify the fake crystals as "saving the earth" but what chemicals were used to make the fakes??
yes I've seen this too, but agree its not always chemical free to grow them in labs!

Great video! So glad you’re putting it out there about Opalite and Goldstone (those two have irritated me for decades). Bismuth can be found in nature, but true bismuth is kind of a grey blob with a few areas that attempt to get geometric. Nothing like the shiny peacock sculptures that everyone is familiar with.
Those crystal clusters are a mess! It looks like a cheap plaster composite is used to put it together.

The sellers I go thru also sell smelting quartz. But they tell you that it's glass. But alot of people who aren't familiar with the term smelting wouldn't know that. They really need to do better. That's just crazy.
Bismuth is a real mineral but to get the crystalline structure requires a lab to control the cooling of the molten mineral.

Opalite was more to "copy" Australian opal, which has been most common for ages and ages. Opalite is actually really old, made into brooches, etc, that our great grandmothers wore. I've gotten screamed at and cussed out telling someone something they were selling as opal was actually opalite. People HATE being told their stuff is fake, especially if they're trying to sell it. Friend bought an "amber sphere with trapped insect". Yup, it was yellow plastic with a plastic bug. I happened to be wearing amber that day, and showed her with a hot needle how to tell the difference.
Why are the vendors that are selling fake crystals not kicked out of the big rock and gem shows? I am taken aback that the other vendors would let another vendor get away selling fakes. Or, do the vendors admit that they are man-made crystals?
some do say lab grown, but they are totally allowed to sell them and people buy them, people also sell misrepresented stones too.

@@meepenjaap7999 It's one thing if they are labeling accurately and the stones are lab grown stones. Glass and mislabeled materials have NO PLACE in a fucking gemological show. Free country doesn't mean you are allowed to scam people, and these really well respected trade shows are going to go down hill if they don't start kicking out these Chinese scammers. I've seen the same problem ruin arts and crafts or small business trade shows, where you end up with half the sellers just being scammers reselling Chinese garbage. It ruins the event for the sellers who have authentic merch to sell.

I find that one kind of pretty in a videogame asset sort of way. Reminds me of the calendula clusters in Elder Scrolls Online. lol The producers should stop growing them on whatever that white substance is and grow them on something clear that they can stick a light inside of. Please keep the fakes and display them (as fakes) so that people who don’t know any better will learn the difference. Many vendors are unscrupulous, however, Temu can be especially deceptive with “everything”.
Anyone shopping at Temu needs to read every description and scrutinize the photos. I have been burned by them before but it was my own fault.
If I buy something from them I really look at everything sizes, all photos (they do lots of photo-shopping), I read product make up etc. If I do my homework I usually come out ok.

Thank you so much for this video! I don’t shop on Temu, but I do shop on Etsy so… ugh just advertise honestly people! People still buy pretty glass if you are honest about it! I personally like Opalite too. It was advertised as opal from the seller but I knew right away that would not be possible. It is beautiful though and most sellers advertise it as opalite. Honesty would sell more than false advertising because no negative reviews 😂❤

Elemental Bismuth does occur naturally. Atomic number: 83. A lot of the "crystals" on there are made out of resin.
OMG I brought 2 fake malachite eggs a couple of years ago. The stock photo was of real malachite. I knew something wasn't right when they arrived. They looked dull and the pattern looked weird. I also noticed they looked nearly exactly the same and the same size and they felt weird as well. There were a couple of tiny holes in them so I got a needle and had a little dig and yes white powder. I messaged the seller and asked why they were so dull. I also asked if they were real. They said it was malachite powder. So I went away and looked it up and they crush all the waste malachite and get a powder I'm assuming they then mix it wih some plaster powder or something put it in molds and then paint them. So I asked for a refund but the seller was not happy with me at all lol. They wanted me to send them back hahaha omg so I said ok. Then asked them for all the details for the customs and excise form and HELLO refund no need to send back. Anyway I'm seeing a lot of this stuff everywhere so please be careful my friends 🥰
Yeah, I bought an opal ring, because the photo was of an actual opal, and what I got was resin with glitter in it.
I actually found your channel because of your Temu reviews, after I went on my own mini Temu adventure. I have been collecting crystals and minerals for years and one of my favorite past times is looking online, especially ebay, and seeing what new fakes are being whipped up. There are trends that come and go.
I did get a decent enhydro agate from Temu. But yes the biggest issue is that there is no extra protection with shipping. I got a broken pink agate tower that came with absolutely no bubble wrap, just thrown into a bag (I got a refund). And I also got a rose quartz bottle pendant...that could hold nothing because the bottle was filled with glue inside (also got refunded). Overall, I'm over ordering from there. I don't like how the item is just random, I like to pick the exact pieces I would want.
there for sure have been some decent pieces! And I've noticed some are disclosing man made or lab grown but not all! shipping is for sure a problem!
To me the funniest one is "smelted quartz", like, no. Smelted glass haha.
Watch out for 'volcanic glass', too... that's what they call the same slag when they try to sell it as rare forms of obsidian. China is ridiculous.

Hi, Barbie! I bought a string of 6 mm stone beads they advertise as Yooperlites or Glow Stones... Even under magnification they seem to be real Syenite known to americans as Yooperlite. And they have a beautiful glow under 365 nm UV light... Have you seen those?

I have one of those mushrooms from Temu in red. No idea what it is but it feels cold, so it's not plastic. Red agate perhaps.
Bismuth is not man-made, it's just the name of an element, but crystalized bismuth is. They use pepto bismol just because the main ingredient is Bismuth subsalicylate
Crystalized bismuth is elemental (real) bismuth that is melted and cooled very slowly to form the crystals. The color is also natural. How slowly the melted bismuth is cooled will determine the quality of the final piece.
Thanks for your video on this important issue. But, this brings up a philosophical question. What is fake? Is the material being sold essentially the same as the material advertised (i.e., lab grown vs. natural)? If the listing doesn't say "naturally occurring", is it lying? Obviously, I am not talking about resin being advertised as stone. But a silica carbide crystal still meets the definition of a silica carbide crystal, even it is man made. Same with bismuth crystals. There is so much manipulation with crystals and gemstones (dyed/heat/stabilized, etc.), that unless you are buying from a reputable dealer and at a decent price, I would assume there may have been some manipulation. Clearly, buyer beware at Temu, but I have seen better quality stores not correctly labeling stones.
Well, I bought an "authentic chakra crystals bracelet" from Temu, but it was just painted plastic beads. Not one bead was a crystal. How'd I know? I could see where the paint ended right before the hole for the string; it was just white plastic. So, yeah, it was advertised as real crystals, but was fake because it was just painted plastic beads made to imitate crystals. Luckily, I only paid like $2 for it, but the fact I thought I was getting real crystals, but received plastic beads was disappointing. And Bismuth is real, even the ones made with Pepto Bismol, because Pepto is made with bismuth, so you can grow bismuth crystals with a Pepto tablet. Now, whether or not the one you order from Temu is going to be an actual bismuth crystal or not, will be a roll of the dice. You may get a real crystal, or you may get an imitation plastic or colored resin dupe. Hope this helps.
Sadly the crystal traders that sell crystals without full or proper disclosure is giving the industry a bad name. Even the so called “gray areas” such passing off ATH as “real” citrines to me is not good for industry. I am ok if people still wishes to buy pretty items or even crystals that are not accurately described. Traders should disclose exactly what the item is so buyers can make an informed decision. Lab grown, lab treated, etc should always be disclosed.

I bought some of those pyrite in "garden quartz" spheres early on in my crystal business journey. They are pretty, but when I got them I could tell it wasn't natural. I will probably still sell them, but I won't represent them as natural. I have also seen a lot of that cherry quartz, but wasnt sure if it was natural. Glad I didn't buy any, although I did get some in a mini mushroom mix.

I heard that a Crystal can help with Anxiety amongst other symptoms. I have tbiptsd and sometimes it’s worse than others. I heard about wearing a clear crystal could help manage those feelings. I know the Crystal I bought is fake it feels like plastic but I don’t have the money to waste to keep buying and I don’t leave the house often so now that I’m to the end of your video you say you have a shop How much would a tiny clear Crystal that’s real cost?
that silicon carbide, many said to be able to absorb odor so yeah, it works. For me I don't think labmade/man made to be fake crystal if they have same chemical make up, it's just dishonesty from seller part. The first one can be considered fake as they just put artistic part together. What considered fake to me will be if they make out of completely different material let's say they sells opal but it's actually cheap resin or plastic.

I do love Opalite but I absolutely know it's glass. There's just something about it, it's so pretty to me for some reason.
I also think Goldstones are pretty too, though I know they're also man-made. I just recently got some Blue and some Green Goldstone and I think they're super pretty. Super pretty man-made. 😊

The original "brown" goldstone was created by monks, who put copper shavings into molten glass.
Don't forget to get your money back. Temu will reimburse you if you either didn't receive something or if it's damaged or if it's the wrong thing.

Take a piece of both fake & real quartz hold each one of them up to a bright incandescent light.. the shines through one it's glass...

its chemically identical with diamonds, but can man made and earth made be considered equal, I still don't 100% know. With smelting quartz, it's not chemically identical so it really shouldn't be called quartz but glass mixed with quartz
Lab diamonds are not considered real lol there’s a huge price difference and jewelry sellers are supposed to label them as “lab diamonds”

Lab grown diamonds are identical if not higher quality than diamonds from the earth. Lab grown quartz are not the same quality as natural, they have a looser molecular structure and break easily. Quartz and Diamond form in a vastly different manner, with one being easier to replicate in a fast process than the other.

Anyone who pays for a natural diamond when they can get the same thing from a lab without having blood on their hands for it is a fool.

You mean Australian jelly opal, right? Ethiopian Opal is very amber hued. Australian Jellies are the closest thing to opalite in nature.

I just bought a meteorite from Amazon today I’m not sure if it’s teal or not it’s made of iron so they say I’m not sure how to test it
Lab grown crystals are still real crystals, though. 🤷🏼♀️ So, the amethyst could still be real, even if it's lab grown. Crystals grow from crystals. Just like the bismuth grows from bismuth, amethyst grows from amethyst. I'm not even someone who claims to know about crystals, I just remember science class.

@@ColdBrewBarbieNot to mention the "points" of single pieces are obviously unnatural, especially since many of the crystals they sell as "points" don't naturally grow with that cystalline structure! Like tiger's eye, lapiz, etc. Matter of fact, editing to add I just saw "genuine" emerald "points" with veins of gold. First, emerald has a cubic structure, and does not grow in with gold. Quartz does, however.
I bought once beads and it was supposed to become a chrakra beads bracelet, she claimed he selected himself real beads and needed to order so I said okay. So after they arrived I went to pick them up and made my bracelet but after a short time my bead started to fade and one the paint came of! It’s was just a p.elastic bead with an harden shell! I told what a bummer that for a shop that sells real things and I specially known for it I’m sad. So I searched for an online shop in Europe im living in Belgium 🇧🇪 so I found two websites that sell real stones in beads and they even tell from where they are and if heat treated or worked on. So one know what and how. And in Europe it’s normally the rule a seller has to provide the provenance. But not everyone does it. I bought last time heat treaded tiger eye so they turn darker.

yes, and it occurs as a crystal in nature also. What she is saying is that the specific crystals Temu sells are synthetic/made in a lab. Sorta like how lab grown sapphire is technically real sapphire but it's considered synthetic because of the growth process and therefor worth 1/100th the price of natural sapphire.
Amethyst is cheap enough. It seems like it would be more expensive to make it.

Look for those spikes that go straight up, they almost look like a crown, also the faded tips and mini spikes all over the points!

Google genuine amethyst clusters. They don't all go in on direction, they stick out at different angles, may have "babies" growing off them...
The structure is less dense and more fragile. You know the difference in sound when you tap on cheap china vs stonewear? It's like that. It will have a high pitched sharp 'ting' to it which is a dead giveaway that it's not durable having been forced to grow very fast and loose under artificial conditions. Natural quartz is dense with strongly bonded molecular structures, so it will feel heavier, colder, and have a lower sound when you tap on it.

Bismuth is found in nature. It's not man made. You can make it using Pepto Bismol tablets, but bismuth has been around far longer than Pepto Bismol, as it was discovered in 1753. It's not named Bismuth because it's made out of Pepto Bismol. 😂 Pepto Bismol contains Bismuth, that's why you can grow bismuth with the tablets. Again, not man made, just can be produced by man using bismuth that was already made. Yes, Pepto Bismol is named that because it contains Bismuth, but not because Pepto and Bismuth share a common ingredient. The ingredient IS bismuth. Bismuth creates bismuth, because it grows, because it's a crystal, and that's what they do.

@@justingalloway2128 No one claimed bismuth is man made. The crystals are. You don't find bismuth purified and formed into crystals like that in nature, that's all. I agree she made a mistake about the oxidation effect. In some metal heavy stones oxidized colorations are in fact induced using chemical treatments, however.

I find this video quite irresponsible. It's important to note that lab-grown crystals are not inherently fake. Repeatedly using the phrase 'lab-grown fake' is inaccurate. If someone is interested in a crystal for its mineral properties, a lab-grown crystal can be just as interesting and, environmentally, a better choice.
Additionally, as a content creator in this space, one would hope that you are mindful of cultural sensitivities and avoid making generalized statements about sellers' nationalities or countries, as this can perpetuate stereotypes. I have personally received 'fake' crystals from an Etsy store claiming their wares are from Brazil. Ensuring that content is inclusive and respectful of various perspectives is vital.
While I've genuinely enjoyed your previous videos and found them very informative, saying the word 'fake' 63 times in 19 minutes and then plugging your own store at the end is distasteful. Are there fake crystals out there? Absolutely! Do sellers mislabel products to boost sales? Absolutely! Buyers should be cautious when purchasing crystals online, especially from mass-discounted companies like Wish, Shein, and Temu. Is malachite one of the most counterfeited stones? Absolutely! Providing a more educational tone about what to look for and what to avoid would help less experienced individuals identify genuine crystals. For instance, instead of stating, 'It obviously feels like plastic because it is light,' which can only be determined when holding it, you might explain that changes in natural malachite are more gradual, and harsh lines with highly contrasting colors may indicate it is not genuine or naturally formed.

In the case of this lab grown quartz it IS fake, as it's physical properties are vastly different than in nature and it is produced to trick people. So yes, FAKE. A lab grown diamond on the other hand would not be fake because it has the same properties as it's natural counterpart.

China deserves it's reputation, and they would never be so sensitive to the rest of the world. In China there's a popular saying that translates to 'if you can cheat, cheat'.
I understand what you are saying but I would be upset with the amount and finding out they are fake . I don't agree this video is irresponsible I honestly feel like she was trying to help us customers know the truth about temu
